A msn comes out and I explained I wanted to replace the center stone on a vintage ring and I believed they had experience with old pieces. He looked at it and said it would cost couple of hundred dollars for a sapphire or something similar; I said ok, however I explained that I was thinking about a particular gemstone. He said he would get back to me and and wrote my name and number on the tiny flip page calendar on the desk. Not the best way to treat a potential customer - but needless to say, no one ever got back to me. As I was leaving three women who were not a person of color, walked in and the short older woman emerged from the back and eagerly went to help them. Way to discriminate- just don't bother! I had a friend of mine tell me that her fiancee got her ring at Baxter's, so i put that feather in my hat. I "snuck out" and went to Baxter's thinking I was just going to inquire about a ring but I ended up walking out with a slip and a down payment on a ring! The staff at Baxter's couldn't of been any better to me. They had beverages, a cozy couch to sit on, and most importantly WORKED WITHIN MY BUDGET. I was looking at a princess cut ring, but it was WAYYY out of my budget. Fortunately, the awesome people at Baxter's got a smaller diamond from the back and even let me use the glasses to inspect the diamond as they explained it to me. There was no "shadiness" with them. They really put me first. After I proposed to her, we went in and got her ring sized to fit. They're customer service was just like when I went in and they adjusted her ring for free. We'll be getting our wedding bands here too...If you need a jeweler...Baxter's got your back.

I happened to be in Warwick and did a Google search for "gold buyers" and Atlantic Metals Xchange popped up. The location is easy to find (near Trader Joe's) and the parking lot is accessible and the store itself is lovely: it looks like an upscale real estate office which is understandable once you learn that the affiliates of this location are located in Greenwich, Ct and Charlotte, NC. The owner is gracious, receptive, knowledgeable, and patient and as other reviewers noted, he was willing to explain how he ascertains the quality of the pieces and assesses the value. (Mostly it's done by simply weighing items once they've been inspected.) Atlantic Metals Xchange offered absolutely fair (the best I encountered) prices in an environment that made me happy to be there. I would definitely recommend it and if I can find some other mismatched earrings, silver, and/or coins, I'll be back. What a welcome alternative to the other metal traders that seem to be everywhere.
