Hidden cozy coffee shop located in Tempe. As soon as you walk into the shop you feel like you have been transported into a different place. The coffee shop has stained glass windows and an extremely unique atmosphere. The barista was extremely friendly and conversational, she made it so any customer felt welcomed as soon as they walked through the door. I ordered a large hot fireside chai with oatmilk. This chai is now my favorite that I have had on the East side in Arizona. The Chai was spiced well, the vanilla added a balanced sweetness, and the drink was super creamy. Just writing this review makes my mouth water!!! I definitely recommend checking out Gold Bar Espresso!!!

My friends really liked this spot, and the range on the menu was nice. When we walked in, there was a strong mildewy smell probably from the cleaner they use which was a little off-putting. My drink was pretty decent, just a bit on the sweeter side. However, I was disappointed that the barista didn't call out our drinks. We were left waiting while the cashier/barista disappeared, which made the service feel lacking especially since we had left a tip.

Nice friendly baristas This place has been there forever and has nice deco and a wide selection of flavors The latte was really delicious but was too sweet for my liking so I will probably order half sweet next time I visit

Great place with a variety of mocha drinks. I went with the white mocha and anywhere that uses Ghirardelli chocolate for mochas are legit. The barista was really friendly and helpful. The moment I stepped into the place it reminded me of places I used to go to when I was in college. Very local vibe and chill. Thanks Gold Bar keep it going!

My husband and I use to frequent this place about 6 years ago and really enjoyed their space and beverages! Today we decided for old times sake to ride our bikes here! Still a quiet space with lots of tables to snag for studying, work or meeting friends. Quirky atmosphere with lots of art and mismatched decor. We don't usually venture to much out of our realms for beverages and stick in the chai or cold brew range. Today, I opted for vanilla chai one of five chai options they have and my husband cold brew. They have an extensive speciality menu, as well as rotating seasonal specials. Prices are pretty on point for cafe and obviously vary based on what your ordering! Service is friendly and overall still great space from our first visit 6 years ago to today!

Absolutely the best! Locally owned, warm quaint and no longer the best kept secret. The service is great. I came to Gold Bar as a GCU student to study for my BSN in 2012. I'm back as a grad student studying for my NP. I adore this place. The owners and staff are consistently cleaning which reminds me of studying at home.

Cool little coffee shop tucked away in a shopping center. I could tell some of the customers there were regulars which was awesome! They had quite the variety of mochas and teas. I decided to get spring the spring cherry iced green tea and it was so refreshing! Super nice staff here too, I would recommend.

All I have to say is no bathroom. I don't know why, but there's no bathroom for customers. Couldn't focus on my drink because I had to pee.

One room is set up with more traditional tables and chairs and the other room has a very cozy atmosphere with couches and comfortable upholstered chairs. The shop was extremely busy, but the noise level was surprisingly not that loud. The barista was extremely customer friendly and even though he had multiple orders before me, he finished my drink in record time! I got an iced Rose Vanilla Latte with oatmilk and it was phenomenal! The drink was a perfect balance of flavors and you can taste the coffee, the coffee tasted rich, bodied, and high quality. The balance of ice and drink was great, the drink did not have too much ice and it was cold enough. Overall I had a great experience with Steve's Espresso and I am looking forward to visiting again and trying their other drinks and their food.

Located in a strip mall, the space has a cozy, eclectic feel with a darker interior and a variety of seating options ranging from traditional tables to upholstered chairs, couches, and wooden booths. Steve's Espresso is often described as a longtime neighborhood coffeehouse with a comfortable, lounge-like atmosphere, which definitely came through during my visit. The staff was friendly and welcoming, and overall I had a good experience. I ordered a cold brew, which was well made but leaned more full-bodied and strong than smooth and mellow, which is generally my preference. I was also surprised that there weren't any cold foam options available, as that feels like an easy addition that could expand the menu. One thing worth noting is that it got pretty noisy around 9 a.m. The space has a lot of hard surfaces, and some sound-absorbing artwork or acoustic panels could go a long way toward improving the atmosphere during busy periods. Overall, a solid local coffee shop with plenty of comfortable seating and friendly service. While it didn't quite wow me, I'd happily stop by again and try some of their other offerings.

The staff was friendly and welcoming. I even saw them offer a customer a small sample so she could make sure she liked her drink before committing to it, which was a thoughtful touch. You'll find Greek, Asian, Hawaiian, BBQ, and then spas for days, right next to a paint and sip studio and frozen yogurt shop with ice cream tacos! It's no surprise they opened a magical flowers and coffee shop where the hippest most romantic looking couples and poets seem to drop by to do their work for the day. However, I might say that I was sorely disappointed that they are not a dog-friendly establishment and they don't offer any pet treats or doggy bowls or puppichinos. :( Although their bouquets are BEAUTIFUL and absolutely STUNNING - you'll find that their DoorDash options come with a flower, but if you order in person, they do not.* I only found this out when ordering in person and asking about it. BUT you can buy a small bouquet in person for something like $12. The carrier is not included. Something to get when you are absolutely having a spoil yourself date. Also very convenient when they have their to-go window open as their full menu is also available outside as well. My first time there, they had not remodeled yet and the coffee shop was a tiny hidden spot in the back with their pastries crammed in tiny displays (which made them even more elusive) and their specials were much more rare, written on little chalkboards. I had their pumpkin chai with almond milk and it was absolutely stronger than the Hulk himself. I couldn't be happier. The next time, I had a London Fog (earl grey with almond milk) and honey which had its own unique charm to it and ordered some of their small bites which were also very delicious and creamy, just enough for satisfy that morning burn in your tummy. I also really loved this with that gentle froth. The last time I went (and they had remodeled and relocated to their new pink brick) I went ahead and tried their turquoise rose matcha which was also everything it's made out to be, but next time I will definitely order it COLD so I can see the color changing happening! You won't be disappointed!

I had their regular cold brew with a splash of cream and a Sunrise Sandwich- both were so good! The cold brew had a lovely aftertaste that in my opinion, reminded me of dark chocolate and whiskey. Service was also fantastic- the lovely barista was thorough in her explanations of each cold coffee option to help me find what I was looking for! My sandwich was also lovely- the Sunrise Sandwich on an Everything Bagel is easily my favorite breakfast sandwich in Tempe. The Basil Pesto adds a bit of freshness to an otherwise very rich sandwich. Also stopped in a few more times on my evening walks for a Lavender Haze (seasonal earl grey sage honey drink: EXCELLENT!) and their seasonal energy drink- it was a Sunset Spritz (energy with grapefruit pink cordial): both delicious. Happy to say service has improved greatly. Employees are on task and happy to answer my questions. The drinks on the seasonal menu are very good, and their classics are also great. If you're going to go soon, I'm a big fan of the Sage honey and a big fan of the cordial syrup on the 2026 Spring Menu. Will definitely be hitting Infusion up for some future study sessions.
