My family goes here because of the wide selection of designer frames and their ability to handle insurance/cash paying methods/Korean ahjoomma haggling. The only con is that the opticians here (all male) seem so pretentious, snooty, and miserable working there. They basically want you in and out. They do not look happy, and don't mind showing it either. Their suggestions/compliments are not genuine, and I always go to other optometry centers to adjust my glasses when I accidentally step on them. I went here about a year ago, but it was the worst experience with a licensed professional I've ever had. The people in the front were nice enough, but I didn't like the optometrist doing my eye exam because she seemed stuck up and criticized my medical history. When I told her my medical history, she started admonishing any medication I've been taking and how they're all unhealthy for me, directly contradicting my family doctor and all the specialists I've seen. The issues were outside of optometry and not within the scope of the visit. I won't be coming back or recommending this practice to anyone. read more

I had visited this store on 12/14/2019 in order to replace the old lens. But Mr Park was not professional for Optometry. I requested the reading area for my lens to be wider. Even though I have problem for far-sight, I requested the focus of the lens to be upper area and I received it on 1/16/2020. But he made the regular lens for me and I requested to fix it. He said it takes a long time for approving from Insurance company. He said he'll call me after fixing it. I had visited there in order to check the status 2/10/2020. But he showed me the glasses not to be repaired. He insisted he fixed it but my old one is better for me. That means he charged without replacing it. I spent $520 (from Insurance) and $250 (from my pocket) for only replacing the lens only. I suggest please never visit this store. I'll keep on visiting the Lenscraft again. read more

I have been coming here for at least the last 5 years. Tony is the best, now everyone in my family comes here for their glasses. I recommended my friends come here and they do as well. They take my ins, and even see my family who doesnt have Ins. We are all non Koreans (my family and friends) as we are not treated any differently. The optometrist remembers me every time I go in and ask about how my life is going along and what not. Very personalized if you ask me. They are professional and the salesmen provide awesome service. They're quite busy so I find it best to call in and set an appointment or ask my question to see their availability before heading in. Busy is a good thing - it means they're doing something right and that people respect their business. They're always accommodating and the optometrists at both locations are very friendly and willing to listen to my concerns or questions. I've been going to Gold Optometry in Garden Grove for the last three years and I just had my yearly eye exam last week with Dr. Chang, my optometrist. As usual, the doctor and staff were great. They're very nice about not making a big deal about my bad eyes even though I'm practically blind without my glasses and contact lenses. Dr. Chang is so thorough and answers all my eye related questions. He always hooks me up with the latest contact lenses and makes sure my eyes are healthy. The staff is really nice and they provide excellent serivce. I brought in my two year old glasses that broke and they were able to fix it right on the spot. I'd highly recommend Gold Optometry to anyone who is looking for high quality service and thorough eye exams. I'll be back next year! read more

The people here are very shady. I picked out a pair of eyeglasses that I really like. The guy told me it was 30% off because they were having a sale. I also asked for a quote on the lens polycarbonate with anti glare. Without taking a look of what I currently have he quickly quoted me $110 the thin and expensive kind. He didn't sound like he knows what he was saying so already I was skeptical. Well I came back an hour later and now the price has changed. The frame is no longer on sale and my quoted price for the polycarbonate with anti glare is now just a regular high index lens for $110. He knew that I like the frame and took advantage of the situation to raise the price and up sell. He had a smirk on his face and a condescending look. The people are friendly. However, the sales staff will try to upsell. I think they try to take advantage of older people that don't know how to shop around. They quoted me over $800 for prescription sunglasses. I was appalled by their pricing so I went to another place and was able to get a nice pair of prescription polarized sunglasses for $300. We came here for the first time because we were referred to by family friends, but they were extremely disorganized and rude. We came on a Saturday, but they told us they will have time for us on a different day, so we came back Monday and we drove 45 minutes each day. All these people care about is money. I went in to buy contacts and asked them for my prescription and the guy looked very shocked that I asked. He proceeded to look in the computer and then told me that my prescription was 2 years old. He completely lied to me because when I went in 6 months ago they told me I didn't have to take an eye exam. I had taken an eye exam a year ago. He lied to me so I would take an eye exam again and not buy my glasses at another store. Their prices also went up for a 6 month supply of contacts. They are now $130. I ordered the bifocal ( double focus glasses) and went for 3weeks. At that time they made mistakes the whole reading glasses. So I have to waited for another 2weeks. Finally, I went to there, they didn't do color, they said " after I finished I will call you", but didn't call. So I called them checked ready to glasses. Another sunglass need fix nose pad, suddenly they don't have, so I have to wait another more than 2weeks. I can not believed it how they working like this. I've enjoyed both my visits to Gold. Both times I received excellent service. The doctor was cool as hell too. He asks 1 or 2, I respond 2. He asks 2 or 3, I respond I can't tell. About the same. Can you go back one? And he kept doing what I asked and was very patient. I am Korean, but my Korean is abysmal. Unlike many places in k-town, the doc's English was great. I have been coming here for about 6 years. They have a wide selection of frames ranging from under $100 to designer ones. My optometrist is nice and she always keeps me in the conversation when we try to decide what kind of contact lenses I'm going to get, depending on my usage. The guys in the front are really nice and let me try on a bunch of frames without getting annoyed. They can install nosepieces on frames that don't have them. I can see why the ratings are not good. Service is just okay. I went in to add nose pads to a pair of sunglasses.. the guy said "it's at least a 40 minute wait". There was 1 other customer in there. I also called ahead of time and the manager I spoke to said it would take less than 10 minutes. The worse part= my nose pads added on to my sunglasses are slightly crooked! Not sure I have the energy to go back and get it fixed, but my $495 sunglasses can't be worn until they get fixed. read more

There was wide range of price for sunglasses and the gentleman working in the store didn't pressure me to buy more expensive pairs. I finally faced the fact that I needed some reading glasses and visited Gold Optometry a week ago. I had not gone to an optometrist for 10 years (since I got my Lasik surgery) so I went by a word of mouth referral. In all, I was impressed by the customer service by the optometrist and the opticians. I walked out with a great deal on sunglasses and reading glasses. They carry a variety of frames in a wide price range. This was my first time getting sunglasses at an optometry and it was great to have my glasses adjusted by an optician. Also gave good feedbacks on what frames suited my face. Another plus- since they are in VSP network, no paperworks for me! I also needed the invoice for my Flex Spending Account and it was done quickly and professionally. When I went to pick up my reading glasses a few days later, I also had my 5 year old daughter's eyes examined. Since both my husband and I have the history of bing nearsighted, reading a chart at her pediatrician's office alone just didn't cut it. The optometrist was great with her and I was in the exam room with her with my 4 year old! I will definitely go back here. I am somewhat surprised by the lack of feedbacks on Yelp since it is a pretty well known establishment in the Korean-American community. But I guess, most of the Korean-speaking customers don't necessarily give feedback on Yelp but pass on the review through the grapevines. Keep up the great work!!! read more

this place is so much cheaper than lens crafters! i've never been to a lens crafter so i went to check it out and get my eyes checked out. at GOLDs... if you get your glasses... your eye exam is pretty much included. lens crafter charges you about $80 for eye exam, then you gotta pay for frames.... then your basic glass lens start at approx $190. are you kidding me?!! $190? basic glass lens are about $60 with anti scratch and anit reflective coating. polycarbonate lens with all those coatings is about $90. and sometimes they can even make ur glass in the same day... if not next day! read more
