This place is absolutely the best dental place ever. When I had to switch insurances, Shannon at the front was AMAZING. She helped figure out everything and made it so easy. Then, for dental cleanings the whole staff is friendly, knowledgeable, and skilled in how they actually get the work done. Sydney is the best too! Patient beware, especially if you've been told you need your teeth Deep Cleaned. At least get a second opinion to protect yourself. I chose this office due to the proximity to my house. My other dentist was close to the office that I no longer work at. I read the reviews, just didn't happen to catch it at first, but there are several where patients seemed to accept the fact that they needed their teeth deep cleaned. The office staff is nice. My appointment was for a check-up and cleaning. Xrays were taken and the gal did the usual procedure to measure your gum line, however, I cried out in pain at least 4 times because she stuck the thing really far down, something I hadn't experienced before and I've been going to the dentist for over 50 years. The power went out, so they were unable to finish my appointment, but in the hallway, the gal said I need my teeth Deep cleaned. I immediately became suspicious and concerned at the same time. I was able to get back in the next day to have my teeth actually cleaned by Trish. Boy, that wasn't any funner than the prior day. The manner in which Trish talked to me was as if I was a child and needed things repeated over an over. I mentioned I used to see Dr Joyce, since they took over his practice. When Trish asked me when my last cleaning was, I explained it was about 1.5 years ago (I lost my insurance until recently), she said YOU Couldn't have seen Dr Joyce, HE retired 15 years ago. That is one example of her rude behavior. When she proceeded to concur that I did in fact need a DEEP cleaning, I asked if this was something this office did a lot of. She proudly said YES, it is very common. It was almost as if she was directing the dentist when he came in to do his part, they told me I had severe bone loss and if I didn't get my teeth cleaned they will eventually fall out, and that I had needed a filling. Talk about SCARED!!! After that was thankfully done, I was walked to the front desk where they schedule the multiple appointments for DEEP Cleaning. I was very uneasy and shocked to learn what was being recommended. I did some research online, and felt it best I go back to my prior dentist for a second opinion. He reviewed my teeth and not only did he say my gums and teeth are fine, but I don't have severe bone loss and I don't need a filling. WHAT?? Before you sign up for anything with this dentist, you owe it to yourself to get a second opinion. Listen to your gut. read more

Sought Dr. Nima for his expertise. Found him to be a responsive, caring doctor we could trust, with precise attention to detail and doing good work, rather than a production line operator. So far I've had crowns, fillings and cleaning. They have a crown fabrication machine on site for faster turnaround. Every procedure has been thorough, with impeccable outcomes. I was a patient for many years at Gold River Smiles but had seen a decline in service. The problems started with the front office changing policy and began texting instead of calling (many times my texts were delayed for hours) when they had an opening due to cancellation. I missed several opportunities to get in sooner, especially with the periodonist who is only there twice a month. After several calls to the office staff I was able to convince them to call me instead of texting. Another issue was when Dr. Nima failed to remove all of the stitches after dental surgery. The dental hygienist discovered the remaining stitch and removed it fortunately before the gum grew around it. The final blow was when I called after hours on Easter weekend and left a message with Dr. Nima. A cap had fallen out on my back molar causing pain and discomfort. I never received a call back from anyone at Gold River Smiles. When I asked Dr. Nima about it, he said he wasn't available. What's the point of having an emergency number if no one is available? As a professional, I thought he was supposed to care or at least pretend to care. Obviously I was wrong. I have since taken my business elsewhere. read more

We got an upgrade on our dental insurance and were able to see a dentist of our choosing after having a very bad experience with another provider. My daughter did all of the searching - I was so beat down by the last experience that I didn't even want to go to the dentist again, and hadn't - in several years. Anyway, daughter found Dr. Nima and had nothing but good things to say about him and his staff. Many months later I had a need to see a dentist and finally made an appointment. I had a chipped front tooth that had been filled in and repaired twice over 20 years. It had chipped off again, leaving me with a jagged front tooth. Very unattractive and dangerous to my tongue! I called and spoke to Shannon. She was very helpful. She was very accommodating and was able to get my husband and I both an appointment within a fairly short time. I had also explained my husband's anxiety when it came to dentists and she was completely understanding and assured me that they would handle his appointments accordingly. She emailed me paperwork for us to fill out and we sent it in before our appointments. Very handy! Upon arrival, I was greeted and checked in. In a very short amount of time I was called back by Sydney. She was friendly and took her time going over my medical info with me. She was informative about what we were going to be doing. There were extensive x-rays and also photos taken and Sydney was very good at it. I usually gag with x-rays and didn't have much trouble with her at all. She was thorough in her exam and didn't pinch and poke too bad when measuring my gums. She started to clean my teeth and then Dr. Nima came in and took over for his exam. He went over much of what Sydney had already explained (I had pre-periodontal disease and needed a deep cleaning). He was also thorough, friendly, personable and made me feel at ease. He also showed me that I had 4 metal fillings that were cracking my teeth and suggested refilling them with a non-metal substance. We then made a game plan for the deep cleaning, refilling the 4 teeth and also getting my chipped tooth fixed. Sydney finished my cleaning and sent me out to Shannon to make appointments. She was very good at getting me appointments that would work for me, all by the end of the year to take full advantage of my insurance. She is very knowledgeable about insurance, billing, etc. and made it very easy on me. I came back a couple of days later to get the first 2 of my fillings replaced, get the front tooth fixed and also the first half of my deep cleaning done. That appointment was a little more involved and overall, went okay. The only negative thing was that while Dr. Nima was drilling out the old fillings, the Dental Assistant was pressing super hard on my tongue to keep it out of the way. I've had a lot of surgeries and dental work done over the years. I'm not a sissy and I have never stopped a dentist mid-work before but I did then because it really hurt. She made a comment that she didn't want my tongue to get pierced by the drill - and although I can appreciate that reasoning, she was still pressing down too hard on my tongue and her somewhat smart-ass remark rubbed me the wrong way. What she should have said is, "I'm sorry, let me see if I can make an adjustment so that you'll be a bit more comfortable." I will say that she was good with the vacuum. She didn't let water or saliva pool in my mouth. Other than that, I'd prefer a different Assistant protecting my tongue. After the fillings were done and the front tooth fixed, I was sent back to Sydney for the deep cleaning. She was amazing. I actually ENJOYED my cleaning. She was super gentle on the injection and really took her time. That appointment was on a Friday. After I could feel my whole mouth again, I knew that something wasn't right with my front tooth. It was too long and was hitting my lower teeth. Also, there was a line coming down the tooth where it was obvious that it had been filled. Basically the coloring was a bit off. I called Shannon and she was able to get me in Tuesday morning. Dr. Nima refilled the tooth with more of a blend of colors and shaved it down so that it wasn't as long. The tooth looks and feels much better! Although the first try wasn't perfect, the fact that I was seen again so quickly to get it fixed was definitely much appreciated. The very next day I saw Sydney for the second half of my cleaning. It went well again and I'm pleased with how my treatment has gone so far. My husband made it to his appt and had the same process take place but with Jenny as the Hygienist. Considering his anxiety level, he did very well and said that Jenny, Dr. Nima and the entire staff really made it easy for him. He still has a lot more work to get done but his anxiety level isn't off the charts now. We're thrilled that we found Dr. Nima and his staff and look forward to a continued relationship. read more

With these Irish potato teeth of mine, I have seen a LOT of dentists over the years and had a LOT of dental work done. I guess you could say I'm a bit of a reluctant dentistry aficionado. And I'm happy to report that Dr. Nima at Gold River Smiles is simply the best dentist I have ever had. Period. I've been going to Dr. Nima for several years now, and I always feel well taken care of. Just today I had a new crown put on and it fits like a glove. His bedside manner is gentle and caring -- he'll frequently check in with you and ask "You doin' ok?" during a procedure to make sure you're comfortable. He's so skilled that I never even feel the initial numbing shot. I used to go armed with headphones to drown out the chaos and noise of a dental visit, but now I don't even bother. Dr. Nima took over this practice a year ago from Dr. James Joyce, who I had been seeing since I was a child. At first I was wary. Dr. Nima is quite young (and he looks like he could star as the male romantic lead in a soap opera!) so I wasn't sure how experienced he would be as a dentist. A year later, I am so happy that Dr. Nima purchased the practice. His customer service is top notch. I have had several appointments with him - cavities, check ups, root canal, crown, etc.) and each time has been stress free. He greets you by name, smiles, and touches your shoulder when he enters the room. When giving you a shot or working on your teeth, he checks in with you constantly to make sure you're okay. He remembers little details about your life and your teeth, and provides helpful hints for tooth care without it turning into a lecture. I have nice things to stay about the rest of the staff, too. Most of them have worked there for years, if not decades. All of them say that they are very well treated by Dr. Nima, and the changes he made when buying the practice were only to do a little modernization. He seems to have kept the full staff on. The dental assistants are super knowledgeable, patient, and kind. They go the extra mile to make sure you're comfortable, checking your preferences on everything from what flavor of cleaning gel you prefer to even offering you an iPod and headphones to help you relax during your appointment. And the reception staff greet you by name and they always give you many appointment options so you can get a time that works well for your schedule. For all of these reasons, that is why I highly recommend Dr. Nima and his staff. I am happy to make the drive from Roseville to Rancho Cordova to continue with him as my dentist. read more

Dr Nima took over the practice from a coyple of dentists who retired last year and he's doing a great job!! He's updated a lot of technological stuff like digital x-rays, computers in the rooms, and even apple pay. He has an in-office dental plan to help those without insurance... I love it!! Personally, he's really easy to talk to and I alsways leave the office with a smile on my face because something funny always comes up. I trust that he will alsways take great care of my teeth and me, as a person. All of previous hygienists have stayed on board and that says a lot about Dr Nima because they like and trust him too! The office is way out in Gold River but it is definitely worth the drive knowing that I can trust Dr. Nima. Other offices always try to "sell" you something but I never feel that way over here.
