We were treated like an inconvenience rather than paying guests, left stranded in limbo by an establishment that had already taken our money. The solitary saving grace of the entire night was our waiter, who staged a one-man rescue mission. He quietly stepped into the line of fire, brought us drinks, and fought relentlessly to salvage an evening that his superiors had already abandoned. He demonstrated the kind of spine, grace, and leadership that was entirely vacant from the rest of the room. If anyone belongs in charge of that restaurant, it is him--not the invisible leadership currently collecting a paycheck. Where management should have been, there was only a vacuum. It felt like a bizarre psychological experiment: a restaurant with no tables, and a kitchen with no food. Just when we thought the experience had hit rock bottom, the house grabbed a shovel and kept digging. The arrival of the bill was the final, insulting blow--a predatory pile of hidden fees and arbitrary surcharges tacked onto already premium prices. We left feeling actively scammed, staring at a receipt that forced us to wonder what exactly we had just financed. This establishment possesses breathtaking views and limitless potential, but a view only gets a customer through the door once; hospitality is what brings them back. We walked in expecting a dining experience worthy of the price tag, and we left with a front-row seat to an operational disaster. Walked in on a sunny Monday evening (sunset at 12am!). It was busy but wait time was just 5 minutes before getting seated. The Alaskan interior had a modern feel. On the walls hung artwork by Alaskan artists. Had great views of the mountains while dining. Service was great. Our server knew the menu very well and answered all our questions. Food was very good. They were all presented and arranged carefully and were very visually appealing. Alaskan salmon was Japanese inspired with contrasting textures of crunchy breaded broccolini and soft carrots and potatoes, aioli glaze and unagi sauce. Halibut sandwich had generous parts of the fish. It had rosemary flavor with little kick. The veggies had some sweet flavor in them. Summertime cake was soft pound cake with strawberry sauce and candied orange. Good for sharing. Because our experience was very good, we went back the following morning for breakfast. We went here for dinner since Salmon Baked House was already closed for the season. Like most places in Seward, it's on the pricey side--halibut was around $36, which seems pretty standard here. I got the halibut and loved it--perfectly cooked, super meaty, tender, and flavorful. The mashed potatoes and Brussels sprouts on the side were also delicious. My husband had the sockeye salmon with rice and Brussels sprouts. He really enjoyed it, though I wasn't a big fan of the rice. Our server was super friendly too and we loved the "high-end" ambiance. We ordered the halibut piccata and it was spot on. I would agree with other reviews that it was more salty than I like so I'd recommend telling them "no added salt". I substituted the potatoes for rice. The small salad portions are huge can definitely split between 2-3 people. The drinks were perfect. We had Erik as our server and he got everything right, including all our substitutions. I highly recommend this place. If you're an Alaskan resident make sure to let them know. read more

Svetlana at host stand was very weird. We had a reservation, she told us to wait, and then never called us while letting in everyone who came afterwards. After waiting 30 mins, a different hostess came up, and sat us at our table immediately when we told we had a reservation and were waiting for 30 mins. This caused a domino effect of delays from taking order to preparing food, and ended up being a 2 hour ordeal, with the end result being pathetically tasteless food. To make matters worse, Jeremy, our server, was quite rude, and lost interest in our table when I told him we don't drink. At the end, he was constantly peeping over the card reader while I was adding the tip, and gave us a judgemental look, never acknowledging that the restaurant failed in every possible manner. read more

Decided to come here despite the yelp rating since we were staying at the lodge and view was beautiful. Food was sloww, probably sitting around for a while before getting served. Soup, salad, entrees all came at the same time so temperatures were off. On a positive note, burger was meaty, juicy and flavorful and fries were crispy. Salad solid. Seafood chowder was nice and creamy but not warm enough. Oysters weren't really chilled. Both salmon and halibut felt overcooked (halibut was a bit better), and the potatoes that came with the salmon were really soy-sauce-salty. Fish and chips was crispy but inside batter was runny and undercooked. Most frustrating was the quinoa bowl, hard and undercooked. We told our server and he sounded like he knew but decided to serve it to us anyways. He took it back to kitchen to fix but returned with the dish looking and tasting the same. Saw another party also order the same thing and ate about half. Our server kindly took it off our bill and we ordered a small cheese pizza which was alright. Overall disappointed about the food given the scenery and the smiling and attentive front lady who offered to take pictures for us. We made reservations for dinner to show up early, and we were able to get in since it was dead. It took forever to get service to find an unpleasant waitress helping us. 2 people ordered drinks, and the rest had water. When she came back to take our food order again unhappy and short. I then decided to go to the bar to order a drink and noticed she was coming back with our drinks. After that she was nice. The meals were 2 burgers. 1 was mediym as is. 1 was MW with just meat cheese and fries. I had to tell her a couple times, just those items which also meant no bread. Stopped by for a couple of drinks before walking back to our hotel. Place has a real Alaska feel to it with all the wood and stone fireplace. Walk through the lobby and dining area to get to the bar. Very nice bar set up. We sat at bar and enjoyed talking with the bartender. They have a pretty extensive selection of craft draft beer. Good selection of liquors. Service was subpar, it took a while for someone to acknowledge us at our table. No spoons with coffee, and had to ask twice for cream. When our waitress asked how everything was, she was told the pancakes were lukewarm, she couldn't get away from our table fast enough. A decent waitress would address the issue. We were surprised by the additional "remote location fee." We've been all over Alaska multiple times over the past few years and we have never seen such a fee. Stayed at Windsong for 2 nights so we ate dinner 1 night at the Roadhouse. We got super lucky and found a table in the bar about 30 minutes before our scheduled reservation. So, I gave my reservation to someone else. Anyways... like everywhere else I've been... they are running short staffed so be patient .... just sit back and relax. I love that their wine list by the glass has 2 sizes.... 6oz or 9oz pours. We got the large ones since it had been a long day. ha! We were pretty hungry so we ordered all sorts of stuff... soups to start and then shared the 1/2 size beet salad with chicken, cauliflower tempura and crab cakes. All of it was great! Hit the spot for my mom and I who were exhausted from a full day of 'adventuring'. Note... I think they gave us a whole head of cauliflower. We came here a couple times while in Seward. Breakfast was delicious with soft French toast and salty home potatoes. For evening appetizers we got the beef skewers and salad. Gayle and I recently stayed for 3 nights at the Windsong Lodge. The Resurrection Road House is right next door, and this is where we enjoyed 3 breakfasts and 1 supper. This place is pretty much out by its lonesome, so for us, this became our meal choice by default if we were already settled at the Hotel. The Resurrection Roadhouse is an attractive and large lodge-type building, which has spacious dining areas and a separate bar space. It has large windows for scenery and great light. Because of all the post-COVID related staffing issues, getting a seat at a table and/or the timing of food from the kitchen was sometimes a little slow. However, the staff that served us working very hard and professionally. In other words, a generous tip was always appropriate. Tip 1: If offered at breakfast, go for the buffet as that speeds your meal up and takes pressure off of the Kitchen. Tip 2: You're in Alaska. Think "Island Economy" meaning that restaurant prices are higher than you might expect. As for the food, that was very good, whether that included omelets, and American Breakfast combination, or a nice Halibut dish for dinner. Please not that if you want some variety for dinner, the nearby (and walkable) Salmon Bake provides and excellent alternative. read more

Definitely recommend this place. We were almost going to skip this place considering the less number of reviews but glad we didn't. Ordered the half roadhouse salad and smoked chicken to split with another person. The salad was fresh, however the smoked chicken was not as described. The description was smoked half chicken with crispy fingerling potatoes, blistered cherry tomatoes, chicken gravy and roasted seasonal vegetables. Instead of cherry tomatoes and seasonal vegetables and chicken gravy, we received olives and pickles that were sliced in a way to look like potatoes and zucchini. There are no cherry tomatoes on this dish and very limited fingerling potatoes. It was a pretty small portion to share so by the time I took my 2 bites of chicken and bit into an olive that I thought was a potato, the plate was gone. Wish they would have just told me they were out of the ingredients to make the dish but had the chicken. When I told the staff the menu was incorrect, no apology was given, probably because we ate it all. I would not recommend this dish at all, it was not good. read more

On vacation with my lover and wanted to get some halibut before leaving the state. I was not disappointed. We both got the grilled with polenta and beets. Interesting combo but it worked. The blueberry cobbler is their best dessert. Our service was good but they seemed a little short staffed when we were there.
