I attempted to place an ordered from this restaurant multiple times for multiple items. I am mainly a DoorDash user and in trying to order from this business a lot of of the additional items to custom make the orders are not available like adding protein to the burrito burritos asked multiple times what to do. Their staff is instructing me to pay for gluten-free tortillas that would be about the same cost. That way I was able to add him or any other protein. I'll let them know that the options are not available on the DoorDash and it would be nice. They would allow you add these items since the restaurant puts instructions at the top. Today I told him to place an order and actually got the owner on the phone. I tried to place a normal order that I do and she instructed me that she is the owner and she is not going to allow that and I need to do it the correct way on the website. I asked her how and she says it's on there just look it's under protein. I said I'm going to Line by Line with you. It's not here. She was getting cross with me. I went back to the DoorDash website to take pictures of the golden bagel Café Paige by the time I had written this review, the owner had gone in and fixed the Paige for her restaurant instead of saying I'll look into that as soon as I'm done taking your order and make sure you get it out she gave up my business for her pride In a small town, poor service, poor communication and no appreciation for who comes to be a patron mean death for a restaurant. Out of stock at 9am dried out onion and pizza bagels left absolutely no one wants. The juice bar is just okay, we tried one once in 2021 and it was not appetizing The staff could literally care LESS you exist or are ordering anything. The Bagels : Stale, dried-out, everything bagel just doesn't even taste like an everything bagel. Heavy garlic. Massive amounts of super cold cream cheese gets it all cold within 6 seconds. I keep thinking if i wait awhile , years, it will improve. Not yet but i really hope it does. This place has potential. Outdoor area and next door to starbucks which used to be a really badly managed KFC. Parking is stressful. Place could use some cleaning. They did downsize on all the grandma stuff knick knacks and miscellaneous stuff for sale by register. Coffee is really blah not good at all. I hope the owners can turn this place around. I was looking for a local spot that made their own bagels so I came to the golden bagel Café. I was very pleasantly surprised with how delicious the bagel was. I did grab the last chocolate croissant because I thought it would be good but I was slightly disappointed. I ordered everything to be eaten at the restaurant and my bagel came out on a tray, but my croissant came out, warmed up in a bag so all of the chocolate was on the bag. Overall, the bagel was good and the ambience of the place is really nice. They do have a lot of of extra items that you can purchase as gifts. This place has definitely gone down hill. I used to love going here when I lived in Napa. My family was visiting in January so I decided to put in an online order one evening for the next morning. Get there to pick up my order and they don't have half of my order and said sorry we are sold out of those items. Ended up throwing out all the bagels I did get as all the onion and garlic on them were burnt and they tasted terrible. Do you not account for online orders when making and selling items? Was told I would get a refund. Refund never came. Called the store a month later to check on refund and was told the manager was out but would get my refund sent. No refund sent still. I've only experienced Golden Bagel once and it was to go, but it definitely hit the spot for breakfast! Consistency in all the bagels, good spreads, and very fair price point. Service was great as I was in and out in a jiffy so no complaints on that front. There was a bit of a rush, but their staff handled everything without any hiccups. I know there are a few negative reviews here, so unsure if it's hit or miss, but from what I experienced, it was worth it, and I would happily revisit for another bagel run! read more

As I walked into the store, I could hear them in Spanish assuming I don't know how to speak or understand Spanish (I am half Mexican half White, grew up with family that speaks Spanish) But they assumed otherwise and said "I think she's the one who called, what a dumbass." And started laughing as I walked up to them, I let it go as I picked up my order but this is truly messed up. First time here since ownership change. Our cashier was polite, and table service for dine-in orders was a nice plus. Items hanging from the ceiling blocking the view of the menu board on the wall was curious. The wait at our table for our food was double what it should have been in my opinion, one of those instances where one begins to wonder if our order was lost. For the most part we enjoyed our breakfast sandwiches, however they would REALLY benefit from two things: 1. Bagels were pretty dry and need butter or something added prior to assembling the sandwich. 2. Scrambled eggs were plentiful, but bland. I'd suggest adding diced onions or scallions and some spices before scrambling. The low prices were very refreshing in today's environment where most restaurant breakfasts push $20 per person. The last 3 time I've come it's always an excuse why it took us 30 min to get our bagels and usually met with an attitude. By the time we get out for our latte/coffee are cold. I have been (or had been now) coming here for 25 years since moving to Napa. It has gone downhill ever since the new owner took over. At first I gave them a pass figuring that they would work out their issues. But it has been a couple of years and it just isn't a good experience anymore. About 50% of the time, they are out of bagels except some plain or everything bagels. My favorite is a Jalapeno Cheddar, I even asked one time if it was not very popular and was that why they always seem to be out, the answer was "they are very popular". I have been there at 8:00, 9:00, 10:00, 10:30 am when they were out of most bagels. Here's a crazy business idea - Make More Bagels ahead of time! Just left there today (a Saturday) huge line, one cashier, slow, slow, slow, we left after about ten minutes. Here's another idea, when there are long lines, open a second or even a third cashier!! I loved coming to Golden Bagel when I was younger and admittedly, I miss the dark walls and house plants. It was a very cozy and welcoming spot with good pastries and smears, now it feels forcibly plain. The ambience has changed significantly from what I remember it being like, and TV and paper menus are now all over the place, making it overwhelming and slightly confusing if you don't know what you're looking for. The items on the menus, if you can find them, are consistent. I'm glad they haven't changed with the interior of the place and I know some other locals are glad as well. The food and smoothies are what I remember them being but I'm really wondering why the owners made the decision to stop showcasing the smoothie section as much. It brought color and liveliness to the area and once again, you don't really know what smoothies they have until you find the paper menu. Separately, it's nice to see younger employees learning about food service. The last few times I've visited (within the past 6 months), however, the manager has been horrible to the staff. While the employees are good-spirited and enthusiastic (fantastic service on their end), hearing the manager give workers constant and less-than-constructive feedback to everybody on the floor 1) brings down the mood for guests and makes it awkward, and 2) makes guests question the integrity of the place. In the 20ish minutes I was there today, I heard her give direct orders to a cashier to upsell the packaged cream cheese because "it's not going to sell itself," with no other words. She also snapped at who I assume is a delivery person, telling him he needed to be there at an earlier time in a condescending and passive-aggressive way. Granted, employees have different understandings and experiences and some have surely been there longer, I'm also not sure of what their dynamic and relationships are like. But there is no denying that this is not good leadership. Personally, I feel bad for everybody who works underneath her and it's sad to know that I am more passionate about the place and its team than the current owner and manager is. Part of me honestly can't believe Golden Bagel is still open with the management/ownership it currently has. Now I don't remember how the team operated when I would visit 5+ years ago, but overall the shop has significantly gone downhill. It has good food but so do other places. The service team works really well to make it a nice experience for guests coming in, but the team can only be so good without a supportive leader. They are just as important as their manager, and their manager is just as important as them. I want to see this lovely local spot at its fullest potential and I hope you do as well. I have to say I have not been impressed during my last few visits to golden bagel! I sorely miss the old ownership and their business management- the consistency in their product, the cleanliness and organization of the store. After today's experience, I prompted myself to leave a review. Staff members unhygienically handled my food goods. I found a piece of a wood toothpick(or something) in my bagel, and my other bagel was grossly misshaped and inconsistent. Please see pictures. Upon handling my order and after dealing with the telephone and cash register the manager, then grabbed my bagels with her bare hands, not even thinking to grab a pair of tongs, use a small pastry sheet or washing her hands. Additionally, I'd like to mention the overall bagel selection the last three times I have been in has been minimal and unorganized. While, I would like to continue to support this local establishment... I am left feeling that after my third attempt I left very frustrated and curious as to if the new bagel shop at the south end of town maybe my new go to bagel shop.... When I came to pick up the sandwiches 1/2 an hour later they weren't ready so we waited at the tables. After 20min I went up to ask where our sandwiches were and they were sitting on the counter for who knows how long. They didn't call out our names or anything knowing we were sitting there waiting. Pretty disappointed with the Golden Bagel after the change in ownership. The Everything looked more like a sesame and the Asiago looked like it was slightly sprinkled with shredded Parmesan.
