I have not visited this restaurant in more than a year! It was nice to see they modernized it a bit and expanded their main dining room. Service was attentive and friendly. They were very fast in taking orders and checking up on the table. The food was so-so. I ordered the vaquero omelette with potatoes and beans. Wow holy moly cheese fest! The beans and omelette were completely covered in cheese. Like a lot. The potatoes were ok. My dining companion was not impressed with their food either; a three item combo (taco, burrito, chile relleno) the relleno was actually two small ones that weren't great. The coffee was good. I did see a notice posted on the window saying they are changing their name to "Casa Mariachi" which leaves me wondering if that's how the remodel came to be. Maybe new or different food items coming soon? Maybe I'll check them out in another year or so. read more

Went three times to this place and it's failed. The regular servers are great, but the last time we were in went all bad. The server was a rude, inexperienced, no service giving, most terrible dude server I've had in years. The guy was horrible. The menu has changed and the food portions are measured by a bean counter. There are so good things and bad things - good was the ambiance, corn tortillas, and beans. Bad was the service time and overall service. The food was OK at best. The ambiance is really nice and cozy. We came in at 10:45AM on a Tuesday for lunch, there were only three other tables with patrons. The server was quick to bring us chips and salsa, but never returned to refill them. After just a few minutes we ordered, the steak molcajete with corn tortillas and Milanesa torta with fries. We waited 45 minutes for our food. Again it was almost empty in the restaurant and early in the day. The molcajete came out first and it took another 5 minutes before the torta was ready. The molcajete was insanely spicy, and I've had them many times at many restaurants. I know what to expect and I couldn't handle the heat - so be warned! Also the salad had thousand island dressing, which they don't tell you or ask dressing preference. My husband requested no tomatoes on his torta - lo and behold - there were tomatoes on it. He called the server over and they took it back and just pulled them off. Torta was very bland, the milanesa had a lot of gristle as well, but the fries were good. It's not called Golden cabin anymore. It has a different name, again. I liked it for over 20 years when it was La Cabana. I don't know why happened. Was ok with it as Golden cabin because the food was the same. Now it has a different name and the food is a thumbs down. Store bought taco shells and the chicken in my taco was horrible. I'd heard about Golden Cabin a couple times so decided to try it out with the family. We ordered to go instead of dining in so I put the order in and picked it up, it was ready in about 15 minutes so speed was good. Let's break down everyone's meals and the reason for the lower rating. -I had the La Cabana Burrito, there was plenty of filling in the burrito but I found it all a bit bland. The sauce on the burrito was watery and didn't have a lot of flavor either, it was very filling but lacked flavor. -My wife had the veggie fajitas and it was probably the biggest miss of the night. The description reads "carrots, zucchini, bell peppers, onions, broccoli and mushrooms." What she got was bell pepper, onion and a tiny bit of carrot. No zucchini, no broccoli, no mushroom. The portion was tiny, she said it tasted good but so much was missing. -My mom had the 3 combo plate with an enchilada, tamale and taco. She said the tamale and enchilada were good but the taco was bland and forgettable. -My dad had chicken sopes and that seemed like the best dish of the night, he really enjoyed the sopes and said he'd happily order that again. Overall a meal with too many mistakes and lack of flavor, we may visit again one day but it'll be a while. read more

New name, new owners, Still great food. Greeted warmly and seated right away. Paloma was so good. Fresh citrus shaken to perfection. Hubby's grande carnitas chimichanga with sauce on top was so good. Nice crispy shell not at all greasy. Tender carnitas inside and wonderful rice and beans inside. I ordered the chicken chimichangas two small crispy chimichangas served with the same lovely rice and beans on the side. We will be returning. We love the bright decor and the homey feel. We ordered for the first time for date night because we wanted to try a new place........never again! I ordered the Chile Colorado which sounded delicious on their description. First of all it wasn't even cubed meat. It looks like they just sliced some asada and poured some sauce all over everything. I didn't even realize there were beans under all that sauce, and this was it. No rice or tortillas...not a complete meal in my opinion. $18 for this?!?! Don't waste your money! read more

But today pick up a menudo to go,$14 ok get home and it was totally different taste than what I was used too. So assuming different cook. Called La Mariachi now.This place is interesting. The server was nice but did not seem to know what she was doing. The bar service was OK. The chips and salsa were pretty good. After that, everything was terrible. The chili Colorado is like rubberized Carne Asada with some kind of strange sauce poured over it... it was like chewing on rubber. It's not that hard to throw some cubed chuck roast in a crockpot and make it tender. I'm not sure they know how to cook or understand basic cuts of meat or how to season. read more

Tried this place out today. Wifey had a hankering for 'Mexican breakfast' on our rare day of together and this place did not disappoint. I had 'The Spanish Omelette'. Wifey had the chilliquilles. Both had green sauce. Pork was tender. Chile wasn't too spicy, spicy enough to enjoy. Waitress was great. Restaurant was beautifully decorated, well lit, and clean. Overall a great experience. Tiny little gem of a restaurant!! The staff here is top notch, extremely nice group of people working here. This is my second time eating here and both times the food was excellent!! I had the chili verde this time around. Portion size was good, with big chunks of tender pork. It could have been a little spicier but overall, I loved it. On Saturday we decided to go out to eat for breakfast and had an idea to go to a different location but on our way we did pass the golden cabin and I mentioned to my husband maybe we should try that. So we pulled around went into the small parking area and parked of vehicle and proceeded to go inside the place is really cutely decorated and it's not a big establishment at all. It does have a small bar area with a few stools for seating and several tables which they told us as we enter to go hidden shoes where we would like to sit. So we chose a booth over by the window. The place is really clean and the waitress came over with our menus took our drink order and then came back when we were ready to place our order. They are very friendly and I did ask some questions about things on the menu and we decided on our breakfast entries. My husband got a omelet of cactus and, I got chilaquiles with rice and beans. The orders came up quickly and the food did taste very good. On the omelet which really was more like a scramble of the cactus. And on the dish I ordered I was a bit more disappointed that the churches did not remain crispy but it was probably because of the chile verde sauce that was on them. But regardless the flavors were there portions are not big they are only good for one person most breakfast dishes seem to be larger in other places. But they were good and that is my outlook on the whole meal. I can't say that this is my favorite spot especially because of the limited portion size but the food was tasty and I would go and eat there again. read more

Decided to stop for taco Tuesday after a few months of going to other places. I had forgotten how nice this place is and how great the food and drinks are! Ordered fish tacos, chicken molcajete, the golden platter, a michelada and tamarindo margarita. Needless to say, this will be back on our regular place to eat. Customer service was great. read more

I ordered ground beef tacos here tonight. They had a horrible texture about like oatmeal. I complained about the meat in the taco and the lady told me they put celery and carrots in the meat. We loved the food here when it was La Cabana and have liked the few times we have eaten here since the name changed. The problem is they are not open as late as they say they are on Yelp or their own website. On Yelp, it says they are open until 9:30pm every day. On their own website, it says they are open until 9:30 every day. However, I just called and asked how late they are open today, a Friday, and was told they close at 8pm. So we won't be eating here anymore if they can't stick to the hours they have posted. How does a restaurant expect to stay on business when they arbitrarily choose what time to close each day? Today, we went into the restaurant, which was clean, and were seated right away. But we ordered two taco salads, which we had been coming for years. I always had the best taco salad and service until Now, it's really small, which we get, and it's okay. But at 12:30, it was cold, not even warm, and there was no cheese. I would have told the server, but she never returned until she brought our ticket and still never asked if everything was okay. I just hate to give a not-so good review because it hard for business now. Please fix this simple problem. Your food could be good. read more
