I've been wanting to try this place and today I decided to take the day off and order from doordash. The food was packaged very nicely and came in a cloth bag stapled at the top. The ramen came in a two tiered bowl with the broth separate so that once I opened it, I could add the noodles and everything else. I ordered the spicy pork ramen. It isn't overly spicy it just has a very nice kick to it. They also include a small cup of oil If you want to make it more spicy. I give it a ten out of ten! I ordered the barbecued chicken rice bowl for my son, loved it. We will definitely be going back.

We were hungry at a late hour and found Tengu Ramen open late. Our server was so nice and attentive. Menu was expansive as opposed to other Tengu Ramen's I've been too. Lively upbeat music, and at this late hour, there were lots of diners. Hubby had the yaki ramen noodles. He LOVED every bite of the shrimp and noodles in a medium sauce. I had the Shrimp Ramen with thick udon noodles. Shrimp were crunchy. I believe there was crispy seaweed and a crispy onion. You need to eat the crispy stuff first as the coating can become quite mushy. As an appetizer we ordered vegetable crispy egg rolls with a sweet chili dipping sauce. Our server was named Fen. She was so very nice and made sure each table was well serviced. It's a strip mall, so there is plenty of parking. Overall, a delicious choice!

I came with two others on a weekend afternoon for lunch. The interior is clean and well-decorated with anime decor. We were seated quickly and our server was prompt to take our order. I got the beef udon which tasted great! The broth was very light, and the beef was very thinly sliced. The portion was also quite large. Overall, we had a great experience and will likely return for the tempura udon.

This place is my go to Ramen spot in Bakersfield. Has a wide selection of different types of Ramen, Pho, and Udon. Every broth I've had is so good! Apart from the big portion sizes, prices are honestly cheap here. Service has always been amazing as well.

Solid spot when we are wanting Japanese food. The interior is nice. The workers are sooo kind; very good service here. I haven't had a food item that I did not like.

The hubby wasn't feeling too great so I went to find him some soup. After going to our regular spot and realizing they were closed I had to find somewhere else. I didn't want to go too far so I whipped out Yelp and found Ten Gu Ramen down the street. I had never been but I was willing to give them a try. The lady behind the counter was very helpful and answered my questions about the menu. I ordered the veggie ramen and the hubby loved it! We will definitely come back to this place and try other options on their menu.

Amazing! This place was delicious! Best Ramen I've had in Bako. The staff was friendly and service was quick. The restaurant was clean and cute. We tried three different ramens and all were delicious! It's the tonkatsu broth that makes these ramens taste great. The roasted pork belly, chashu, was so tender and seasoned just right. At this location, you get a free soft drink with your order. We also tried the lunch special tempura shrimp. It was so yummy, the shrimp were perfectly cooked. Enjoy!

I got the miso ramen with pork. Unfortunately the meat tasted gamey and noodles were slightly undercooked. The restaurant was playing music but it kept getting cut out, it was unpleasant to sit and listen to choppy music. The waitress took my order pretty quickly and was attentive but the food just tasted old.

The service was excellent! There was just one girl working several tables, and she was very friendly and had a wonderful attitude! Restaurant was clean and had lots to look at and some bracelets for sale, which I liked. Food was good, but the shrimp in my ramen was over done.

Staff are the sweetest ever, One of the staff members kept coming around every single table asking if we wanted refills every five minutes every restaurant I've been to that's never done that I love the service here. Food was top notch the spicy miso was amazing and it was the right level of spice I definitely would come here agajn

My family and I had a great dinner at Ten Gu Ramen. The Ramune melon drink was a big hit, especially with my kid, who also loved the deep-fried squid legs and side of fish cakes. My husband, who is usually super picky, ordered the spicy miso ramen and surprisingly finished the entire bowl! I myself had the spicy pork ramen and while I don't handle spicy food as well as I used to, it was too good that I could not stop eating it. The staff were incredibly friendly and attentive, and the decor really transported us to Japan! Since this was a family dinner, we skipped the alcoholic drinks, but we will definitely be coming back soon for a date night, especially now that the cooler weather makes it the perfect time for this kind of meal.

I love their food! They are about $30/person which I do find overpriced for what you get, but it's so yummy!

However, during my last visit, I noticed something that didn't sit right with me, and I just wanted to make others aware. The restaurant automatically adds an 18% gratuity for parties of five or more, including small children in the party count. While I understand restaurants have policies, what bothered me was that it wasn't verbally mentioned or clearly pointed out during our visit, which makes it very easy to overlook. If you pay by card, the receipt they bring you already includes the gratuity in the total. However, the signature slip still suggests additional tip amounts at the bottom, which can easily lead people to accidentally double tip without realizing it. I'm sharing this simply so people can pay attention before signing. In today's economy, every extra dollar matters for families dining out. And while some people may say, "If you can't afford to tip, don't eat out," the reality is that restaurants rely on customers to stay in business too. Transparency goes a long way, and I think customers should be clearly informed when gratuity has already been included.

I'm glad we did, because it gave us a whole new feel for the place. Inside isn't massive, but it's not cramped either. Think of it like the Goldilocks of restaurant spaces: just right. The vibe leans calm and cozy, dim lighting, black walls, and splashes of color here and there. It's got that "peaceful sushi zen" atmosphere without being boring. Our waitress deserves a medal (or at least an extra roll on the house). She was the only one working the floor, yet somehow managed to be friendly, attentive, and efficient all at once. Multitasking level: expert. Now onto the food, which is really why we came back. We ordered a spread: two teriyaki chicken plates, one chicken ramen bowl, an order of sushi crunch rolls, egg rolls, a large pineapple sake, a beer, and two iced teas. (Yes, we came hungry. Don't judge.) Everything came out quickly, hot, and fresh. The chicken was juicy, the rice perfectly cooked, and the little bed of veggies under the teriyaki chicken was tender-crispy and surprisingly addictive. Whoever thought of tucking those under there deserves a raise. The ramen had bold flavors that hit the spot, and the sushi rolls lived up to their name, they really were crunchy and delicious. Now, the egg rolls. Let me tell you, these might just be the best I've ever had. Perfectly crisp on the outside, soft and stuffed with flavor on the inside. The kind that makes you regret ordering only one plate. Drinks? The beer was cold (and surprisingly affordable), the iced teas were strong and refreshing, and the pineapple sake... well, it was different, let's just say it's not everyone's cup of tea. Personally, I'll stick to tequila, lol, but my husband happily claimed the sake as his new favorite. Win-win. Prices here are fair and budget-friendly, which is always nice to see at a sushi spot. The place was clean and well-kept, and I'm happy to say it still holds up just as well as when I ordered takeout years ago. Bottom line: Shoyu Sushi is still doing its thing, fresh food, good prices, relaxing vibe, and service that makes you feel taken care of. If you want sushi that crunches, teriyaki that comforts, and egg rolls that just might ruin all other egg rolls for you, this is the spot.
