I was surprised by how nice the ambiance was inside the restaurant, considering it is in a strip mall. They have done a great job making it look inviting and stylish inside. My wife and I started with the pork katsu as an appetizer, which was incredibly crispy on the outside while tender and juicy on the inside. Delicious. Afterward I had the classic Tonkotsu ramen. It was pretty good, although the chasu was fattier than I personally prefer. I asked them to add chili oil to make the broth spicier and I enjoyed it that way. My wife ordered the Tantanmen ramen, which she absolutely loved. I tried some of hers and I also really liked the broth, so I will get that next time. Overall it's definitely a nice place to grab dinner and we will return. read more

I tried this place twice and was disappointed each time. I'm ramen obsessed so I came here because of the good reviews hoping for exceptional ramen. The tonkotsu didn't taste at all like tonkotsu. It oddly tasted like corn... like there was corn juice in it. I had to add a lot of soy sauce, sriracha, and garlic to wash out the weird taste. The pork gyozas were good but the sauce was a little bland... added sriracha. The service was great, nice decor. read more

Probably one of the worst ramens I have ever had - and I had plenty. The broth was too watered down and super bland. This place was packed and the staff was welcoming and friendly. The place was also good with a cozy vibe. However, their ramen was almost inedible for me. I ordered their tonkotsu ramen and it did not taste like it at all. P.S.: Please take this review with a grain of salt as I originally came from LA with a hefty amount of delicious ramen places and this definitely could not compete with even the most mediocre ramen place in LA. This food went crazy! 10/10 in flavor 10/10 in portion 8.5/10 in price (little too expensive imo) Food was presented beautifully and the restaurant is filled with anime portraits and the mural on the back wall is cool! The perfect spot for anime and ramen lovers! I had the Tantanmen (spicy ramen) My kid had the same but mild. We had an order of tempura shrimp and monkey balls with a glass of Sapporo. When we're craving ramen, O Ramen is always the go-to. It hasn't disappointed us yet. The atmosphere is great, and the wall decor is really cool. It does usually take a bit to get seated since the space is small, so there's almost always a wait, but if you're not in a rush, it's no big deal. My favorite menu item is the karaage chicken! super crunchy and even better with the spicy mayo. For ramen, we always order the tantamen. The spice really takes it to the next level. So it's been a while since I have been there. I love the decor, all about anime. The wait staff was friendly and attentive, checked on me constantly. It feels like a Ma and pa shop, small dinning room, a few tables, the crowd is young. I started with Seared Ahi appetizer. It was marvelous, especially if you like spicy food, it has a generous amount of hot pepper on top. I ordered Tonkotsu ramen, my measuring stick for a ramen shop. I never would have guessed I'd find a new favorite spot in Bakersfield. The town has really grown since the last time I visited. They have a lot of good restaurants now. This is a must stop for me. They have the best karaage I've ever had. Service is prompt and polite. They were very attentive and got the order right. The restaurant is cute (see pics) and there is plenty of seating. I've taken a few days to calm down before writing this review because I wanted to ensure I was being fair. I'm not doing this out of spite or revenge--I just want O Ramen to take accountability and train their staff so no one else has to go through what I did. I went to O Ramen in Bakersfield on a Tuesday evening with my husband and my service dog, who is an allergen alert dog. When we walked in, the waitress saw my dog and immediately said, "No dogs allowed." I explained that he's a service dog and pointed out his vest. Instead of seating us, she kept asking for documentation to prove he was a service dog. I told her that the ADA (Americans with Disabilities Act) doesn't require service dog owners to carry any kind of paperwork, and businesses can only ask two questions: 1) Is this a service dog? and 2) What task or service has the dog been trained to perform? I was happy to answer those, but she wouldn't listen. I also explained that asking for medical documentation is a violation of my HIPAA rights, but she still insisted. Two other employees stood there watching but did nothing to help. After 15 frustrating minutes of trying to explain the law and willingness to show her on my phone the regulations of the law, my husband urged us to leave to avoid ruining the rest of our night. As we walked out, the waitress said, "I hope you understand, I don't hate dogs. It's our policy." I told her this wasn't about liking or not liking dogs--it was about her refusing to follow the law and discriminating against me. This whole experience was humiliating and extremely upsetting. I rely on my service dog to stay safe, and it's hard enough to navigate life with a disability without having to constantly justify myself and educate people about the law. Situations like this make me not want to bring my service dog to places and risk my life just so I can be treated fairly. I really hope O Ramen takes this as an opportunity to train their staff about the ADA. I had actually left a positive review for this restaurant back in 2021 after enjoying a meal here and recommending it to my husband. I thought it was a nice place to eat at. However, this recent experience was a complete surprise--one that left me feeling hurt and disappointed. read more

It's been awhile since I've been here. Prolly at least 4 years since the last time I stopped by and it was just as yummy as I remember it. Solid ramen joint if your looking in the area. Stopped by for dinner around 5pm and they weren't to busy when I first got there but after being there about 15 min, they were packed!!! Ordered a ramen bowl and some gyoza and my food was out within 10 min. Ramen noodles were of great quality and the soup itself had great flavor. Very large portion too. The gyoza was so tasteful, a must if your a gyoza fan. Menu is extensive here so you have some good options to choose from. Prices are good considering the portions, quality and flavors you are getting here. Overall, would have to rate my visit a 8 out of 10. O ramen, thank you for hospitality and delicious food. Typical ramen place in Bakersfield. Love the ambiance. Lots of room and anime inspired art fill the walls. The prices seem to have gone up a bit in the last few months, given the prices on the older menus on Yelp. We did have to wait quite a bit for a table (15min) despite the large seating area and about 6 clean tables available. Staff was friendly and accommodating but busy. The ramen broth was tasty and they're very generous with their sashimi portions. My onsen egg was over cooked and the sashimi rice was stale. However, no other complaints.
