    Hello Paloma
    Darla A.

New name, new owners, Still great food. Greeted warmly and seated right away. Paloma was so good. Fresh citrus shaken to perfection. Hubby's grande carnitas chimichanga with sauce on top was so good. Nice crispy shell not at all greasy. Tender carnitas inside and wonderful rice and beans inside. I ordered the chicken chimichangas two small crispy chimichangas served with the same lovely rice and beans on the side. We will be returning. We love the bright decor and the homey feel. Thank you for a great lunch

We ordered for the first time for date night because we wanted to try a new place........never again! I ordered the Chile Colorado which sounded delicious on their description. First of all it wasn't even cubed meat. It looks like they just sliced some asada and poured some sauce all over everything. I didn't even realize there were beans under all that sauce, and this was it. No rice or tortillas...not a complete meal in my opinion. $18 for this?!?! Don't waste your money!

    Half full container of menudo.

Been a long time customer back when it was "cabana restaurant " always has great food and excellent service. But today pick up a menudo to go,$14 ok get home and it was totally different taste than what I was used too. So assuming different cook. Not only that they didn't even fill my container ( shown in pictures below) So needless to say disappointed customer.

On Saturday we decided to go out to eat for breakfast and had an idea to go to a different location but on our way we did pass the golden cabin and I mentioned to my husband maybe we should try that. So we pulled around went into the small parking area and parked of vehicle and proceeded to go inside the place is really cutely decorated and it's not a big establishment at all. It does have a small bar area with a few stools for seating and several tables which they told us as we enter to go hidden shoes where we would like to sit. So we chose a booth over by the window. The place is really clean and the waitress came over with our menus took our drink order and then came back when we were ready to place our order. They are very friendly and I did ask some questions about things on the menu and we decided on our breakfast entries. My husband got a omelet of cactus and, I got chilaquiles with rice and beans. The orders came up quickly and the food did taste very good. On the omelet which really was more like a scramble of the cactus. And on the dish I ordered I was a bit more disappointed that the churches did not remain crispy but it was probably because of the chile verde sauce that was on them. But regardless the flavors were there portions are not big they are only good for one person most breakfast dishes seem to be larger in other places. But they were good and that is my outlook on the whole meal. I can't say that this is my favorite spot especially because of the limited portion size but the food was tasty and I would go and eat there again.

Best restaurant I've ever been to! I've lived in Bakersfield all my life and just found this out! Perfect place to eat! Bakersfield doesn't deserve this greatness! Would give infinity stars if I could.

I have been back here every weekend for Pozole or menudo so I must move from a 4-5 star. The service is awesome and the menudo it on hit!

This was our first time visiting Stack's Cafe after talking about trying it for a few weeks. We…read morefinally made it in around noon and were seated right away. The restaurant has an open kitchen concept, which we were actually excited about since you can see everything being prepared. Unfortunately, that's where things went wrong. We were seated right in front of the kitchen, and my wife began noticing some concerning food safety issues from one of the cooks. She observed him handling ready to eat, cooked food with his bare hands, including picking up avocado from her California omelette so another cook could add cheese underneath. Shortly after, she saw him rub his nose and continue working without washing his hands. The final straw was watching him grab a pinch of scrambled eggs from a plate on the hot line and eat it with his fingers. At that point, we were completely turned off. We had already placed our order, but there was no way we were going to eat after seeing that. My wife went to the counter and let the server know what she had witnessed, and we left. It's disappointing because the menu looked great and we were really looking forward to trying this place. I'm not sure how this behavior isn't being noticed or addressed by other staff, but based on what we saw, it didn't seem like a one-time thing. I hope management takes this seriously, reviews their cameras, and reinforces proper food safety standards.

Our waitress was very sweet and friendly, but it seemed like she could use a little more training or help staying organized. We waited quite a while just to place our order. Meanwhile, two tables that were seated after us had already ordered, received their food, and were eating while we were still waiting. The experience was disappointing, but I hope the service improves because the food was definitely worth coming back for.

The vibes in the new space are absolutely immaculate. There is so much more energy here, and the decorations are incredibly cute. It's the perfect backdrop for a killer meal. The Main Event: This time around, I went with the En Fuego Burger. This beast is loaded with a chile-spiced beef patty, pepperjack, sharp cheddar, thick-cut bacon, chipotle mayo, pepper relish, pickled jalapeños, and a mountain of fried jalapeños + onion strings. The Flavor Profile: This burger delivers on every level, but those fried onion strings were to die for. For the side, I got the sweet potato fries, which are served as big, thick-cut wedges. They come paired with a duo of spicy ketchup and a marshmallow dipping sauce. Switching between the two was amazing, the marshmallow sauce actually makes the fries feel like a dessert. The Drink: To wash it all down, I ordered the basil lemonade, and omg, I need to figure out how to recreate this at home. It's exactly what it sounds like, crisp, refreshing lemonade with a perfect herbal basil finish. The Verdict: If you loved their old spot, the new location takes everything to the next level. Between the upgraded atmosphere, the dessert-like fries, and that refreshing lemonade, I will absolutely be coming back here again and again.

The second was almond butter and banana with cocoa nibs, honey, and cinnamon. The third was Nutella and hazelnuts topped with strawberries and coconut flakes. They were all delicious, but my favorite was definitely the Nutella and hazelnut toast. Everything tasted fresh and flavorful, and the variety made it fun to share and try different combinations. Service was quick and friendly. The ambiance is a cute cafe vibe. You place order at the counter and someone brings your order to your table. Smitten is definitely a must-visit spot when downtown for breakfast.

SMITTENS STAPLE IS THEIR ABILITY TO MISS THE FLAVOR IN EVER SINGLE DISH…read more Update: coming back after some palate development... smitten is one of the most tasteless restaurants in town. Their hype was definitely due to the 'aesthetic'. Nothing is really outstanding to me. The drinks are such a let down, the coffee is borderline yuck.. do not recommend. Everything is quite unmemorable. Service is whatever, sometimes mid, sometimes bad. Nothing outstanding. Ambiance.... well... this one has been replicated one too many times. The food is heavily missing flavor, the hummus is disgusting. I can't believe they call that thing hummus, it's an insult to actual dish.. it's almost like it was trying to imitate the real dish, but failed terribly in even attempting to. Their pizza tasted like play-doh and looked very pale. Smitten is at least consistent with one thing, which is their staple: no flavor. One of the breaking points for me was being served food that had someone's HAIR. The restaurant is very expensive for the poor experience they have to offer. I stopped recommending them a long time ago.
