It wasnt a deal breaker, just a heads up for anyone who might not know what they're walking into. Our sever Adam was pretty good as well. Service was a little slow, but they were kind of busy on a Saturday afternoon. I do like that they hire local college students for their wait staff. It's basically a Big Mac on steroids--tangy, slightly sweet, salty beef patties, and when you add mayo and tomato, it's ridiculous. Best, most consistent burger I've had in the Garland/Sachse area, no debate until proven otherwise. Tried the Texas Patty Melt for the first time and it delivered--9/10. Not your grandma's melt. Great flavor, perfectly sautéed onions, slight spicy kick. Only knock is the toast was a bit soggy and hard to hold, but still very legit. Bottom line: Jake's is the most consistent burger spot in the area. Fix the fries and this place would be dangerous. As a personal trainer, I don't take cheat meals lightly--and this is worth every calorie. I'll be back.

Those are a trinity for me, if you will, when sampling and then judging Louisiana fried chicken places. So, Enter Sandman... I got food poisoning, which is an automatic 1. I don't like to give them out, but for extreme circumstances; this being one of those circumstances. The food: The fried chicken was not golden brown it was dark brown, which says old oil/grease. Scattered among them were stringy pieces of boiled chicken, 2 or 3 pieces of sausage, I did not identify if there was indeed any crab in there because I never saw it and two soggy ass fried shrimp on top. I should've just tossed the whole thing in hindsight. I did pitch the shrimp. I didn't trust how they looked. I dumped the pint (it had that odd colored overcooked rice too), i added quite a bit of water, brought it to a boil, reduced to simmer. I had to add seasoning to this as well as some tobasco. I ate about 1/3 of it or so, then just pitched the rest. *a few hours later (said in that French accent you're now reading it in)* I'm pounding Nauzene, and pounding the toilet. Let's say, oh... about 8 -9 hours? The easiest way to explain how long. As the very unpleasantries began, I put on John Wick, I watched all 4 before finally being *done* and able to go to bed about 0500. Suffice to say, I will not be back. I give this two thumbs down and a raspberry.

Sometimes you can see an irridescent sheen from the meats -- that is the sulfites. I tried an experiment after getting quite sick at Jersey Mike's: I got a veggie sub with the same toppings as the sub that got me sick. No problem! That's when I found out some people are sensitive to sulfites. I also found that same irridescent sheen on meat at Aldi. If you get sick after eating there, it's probably not because of spoiled or mishandled food, it could be that you are sensitive to sulfites like me. Hope this helps someone.
