Needed a quick bite while driving through town. Wasn't sure about stopping by this Golden Chick because of previous reviews but a more recent review stated they changed management so we decided to try it. I'm so glad we did! Of all the Golden Chicks I've ever visited, this location has got to be the best in the middle of Terrell, TX. The chicken was super juicy and fresh. What are they putting in it!? I'm craving it now as we speak. I can be kinda picky when it comes to fries but theirs was super crispy, yet soft at the same time. One of my favorite fast food fries out there for sure! The service was also amazing. That's hard to come about at fast food chains, hence all the negative reviews from before. Dining Room closed at 7:30pm on January 16, 2024. Forced to order at drive thru. It took about 5 minutes for someone to come to the window after we ordered and drove around. Originally from Texas...I live in Vegas now. You just can't get the same kind of southern fried nothing there. I don't care what others may say. That being said....we have great food options in LV and great places but I was craving catfish and that is hard to find in LV. I got 2 fillets in a combo. I was asked if I wanted tarter sauce or zing sauce. I asked for both but only got back to the hotel with tarter sauce. Oh well! Catfish was crispy and I love their cornmeal batter. Fish was decent. A bit dry but still good. I got okra but it wasn't really as good as I've had it either and I didn't get any ketchup so I left it alone. I ordered a large corn nuggets because those are so good and I can even eat them cold. That was my plan but they were a bit drier than usual also. The roll was great. Warm and a tad bit sweet kind of like a Hawaiian roll. Delicious. So I guess I can say overall my food was good but not great. Service was good but not great. Even my tea was good but not great. I still give 4 stars though. Nothing was just awful & I did not get sick. Customer service is horrible, guys got attitudes and don't want to work, sweet tea is moldy and still serving it directly to us, if we get sick we will go after who owns this location, fix your drive through speakers and don't be cheap about it when you charge outrageously for a chicken combo. This location needs to be sold or shut down. The two employees need to be let go, the attitude they have to others and work ethic is hideous. I mean come on, it's Golden Chick... you can't go wrong with some good ole' fried chicken! Golden chick is near and dear to my heart because I grew up with one next to my apartment complex. I decided to stop by to bring back some old memories of the spicy tenders and the golden brown roll AND IT DID NOT DISAPPOINT. Everything was how I remember it to be; chicken seasoned well with a nice crunch to each bite, roll was so sweet and buttery and thought I was eating a Hawaiian roll from a Thanksgiving dinner. TBH I was a bit hesitant due to the old reviews, but new ownership/management seems to have turned this place around. 5 stars. Will be back read more

Thought I would try out the new Golden Chick in Terrell today, but that was a bad mistake. Pulled up to the drive-thru and ordered two Chicken Salad Salads. I inquired about what type of salad dressing they had to offer. The young lady said they had Thousand Island and Italian. Really, only two salad dressings????? This should have been my first sign. I asked for the Italian, and then proceeded to the window. The lady told me how much it was and I paid her. She gave me my receipt. She leaves (I am assuming to get the salads). She returns to the window and says they are out of Chicken Salad and asks if I want something else. I'm blown away that you can take my order, take my money, and THEN tell me you are out of what I ordered. Maybe I should have been informed of this up front. I would have went somewhere else. However, I told her that I didn't know what was on the menu, so she gave me a to-go menu. I said that I would just take the chicken strip salad instead. When I got home, they didn't put the salad dressing in the bag. I was going to use ranch anyway (Italian or Thousand Island dressing just doesn't sound good with chicken strips). Now the salad itself was horrible. It literally was chopped up iceberg lettuce with two chicken strips on it. Nothing else...REALLY! My wife threw her's away without even eating it. Got here at 5:25PM. They were quick and friendly to take my order. No problem. Two cars in front of me. I didn't leave til 6:15PM. 45mins! Ridiculous. I ordered a family meal & 2 combos. Person who took my money said they would give me a discount for waiting for so long. Comes back, said she couldn't give me a discount because her manager says no. Why offer and then take back what you say? Anyways. Got my order, checked my bags realized one thing was missing and it took an additional 15 mins. Long wait, not sure what was going on since I saw a few people standing around. I'm sure others were mad about the wait, I saw a few ended up leaving the drive through line. I originally stopped by this location a while back and had a really bad experience with the service and food here and swore I would never come back. But for whatever reason today I decided to give it another shot and I've got to say - today's experience was completely different. The last time I came I had to wait in line for what seemed like forever before someone could take my order, and then proceeded to wait even longer just to eat cold, stale food. But today when I stopped in, there was a still a line when I walked in but to my surprise it moved pretty quick and the people who were working were actually super friendly. I ordered my food and waited maybe a total of 3 minutes and out came my food that felt like it literally just came out the fryer. My experience today was really a complete 180 compared to the first time I was here, definitely coming back and definitely would recommend! read more

The chicken strips and rolls are really good. I was initially upset when I got home because my order was incorrect. Spoke with Denny the manager and he quickly fixed the issue. He even delivered the food. ( They do not delivery) This is customer service. Not that you should expect this but really do appreciate it. Just driving through had to stop for gas at the Exxon and thought to go grab some food at the Golden Chick. I proceed to order my food the staff that works the mid shift (around 12 lunch time) is rude. It took two people to take my order. I get my food, I ordered the Nashville sandwich & a 9 piece wicked wings. My wings come and I ask for sauce because usually they'll come with a chose of sauce but they decided to charge me for a sauce instead I pay. I go sit down and look at my wings and they weren't cooked all the way through. So I take them back to them and the cook came up front talking about there's nothing he can do for me cause he cooked it right and put the timer. All I asked was could he cook it longer and he said no. Then I asked could he give me something else and he said he could give me 1 regular wing for all my wings that were slimy and not cooked all the way through. So I just tried to go to Golden chick to place lunch order before the Texas OU game and they told me they're not open right now. I told the employee that the website says they're open at 10:30 and ask when they would be open and she said she didn't know. I asked if they were having some kind of emergency and she said no not an emergency but half their staff didn't show up. I've known plenty of restaurants including the sonic up the street that literally had two employees working one day and they didn't shut their doors down. I'm just one customer trying to place one order! You would think with the staff that they had there they could've at least tried to accommodate my order. For a brand new business in town, this is a fast way to lose new business! Given that we don't live in the metroplex and it sometimes can take 20 to 30 minutes to drive and to a restaurant for some of us, it's a huge inconvenience I have a supposed open restaurant to tell you that they can't help you. Absolutely horrible! From the service to the food! 1st visit they had just open so I figured maybe their busy I'll try again... Will not be a 3rd time! 1st time I dined in and when I got my food the crust on the chicken was all falling off and it was just chicken no crust. And they gave me a large sweet tea hot with no ice and when I went back up and asked for ice the lady rolled her eyes and sighed like I was bothering her. This time I went through the drive through I ordered the spicy tenders meal. 12:56 pm then pulled forward and set at the window till 1:09 before anyone even came to the window and said hi, your total is... No one came until the little lady (cook) from the back came up and was surprised to see me still setting there. She then goes to the back a few more minutes pass and finally someone comes to the front and charges me and gives me my food. I get back to my shop and open the box ready to eat and they have so much spicy powder pored over it that I just threw it away. Absolutely ridiculous! Not sure who the employees are that they have hired that apparently don't give a crap about their JOB or maybe it's the managers doing maybe he doesn't care, either way they are doing a horrible on running the place, and even worse job with customer service and quality control.
