I finally did it. I had to see what all the hype was about. I have never been to an In N Out before, but while passing through Texas on the way home, I made a point to try it. My first impression was that this place was insanely busy, which honestly gave me hope that the food would speak for itself. I was greeted in the drive through by an employee who was extremely friendly and took my order while I was still in line. Then it became a waiting game. From the time I placed my order until I got to the window, it took about 15 minutes. That may be normal here, but I would not call it fast food in the usual sense. That said, there are signs everywhere saying everything is cooked fresh and made to order, and if that is true, the wait is a fair trade for hot, fresh food. Sitting in the drive through was actually a cool experience because you can see into the kitchen through the glass. It was interesting to watch the team work, and the kitchen looked very clean and organized, especially considering how busy they were. I ordered the Animal Style meal since everyone says that is the best way to do it. It was about$11 which feels pretty reasonable these days. I also liked the packaging. The burger came wrapped in paper, and it made it easier to eat in the car without making a mess. As for the food, the burger was above average for a drive through restaurant. It was served hot, and the vegetables tasted fresh. But compared to a genuinely great hamburger, it was just okay. The biggest thing holding it back for me was the patty. It needed more seasoning, and that alone would have taken it a long way. The fries were the weak spot. They were overly salted, almost too salty, and they were not very hot by the time I got them. They ended up feeling like average fast food fries. Overall, if you are craving a hamburger and choosing between typical fast food options, this is worth a stop. I am unsure how anyone can give In and Out burger anything but 5 stars. I just happened to be driving by on my way to Arkansas and saw it like a beacon in the night. I had to circle back but it was well worth it. The drive thru wasn't that crowded which was a bonus. The food is always the same which is great because I love a good burger. The service was perfect. Another frustration was when I asked to see the actual t-shirt out of the package so that I could figure out which one to buy, I was told "We can take them out of the bags." Poor business move. The employees are nice. Pretty quick considering it's usually busy, Food is very inconsistent. EVERY time I go to this location, I have to send my burger back. I add ketchup and mustard and they forget every single time. The fries are hit and miss. Sometimes they're really good and other times they're soggy. They also never separate my son's allergy foods from the normal foods even though I ask for it. Madison earned this place a 5 star review. From the moment you walk into the restaurant she greets every single person with a huge smile while still focusing on the customer at her register. She was very friendly and bubbly. When the line was down she immediately grabbed a cleaning cloth and started wiping down tables. My burger and fries on the other hand were very salty! I don't understand this allure of this place at all. I have a couple of friends that love this place, but I think it is horrible. McDonald's is 1,000 times better. Visited the second time .... Can't remember my first, but the staff is friendly smiling, place is clean. They do not serve mayo and only put ketchup and mustard on request. They use their own sauce mixture. Typical price for a meal! The burger was 80% bun , 15% lettuce and tomato 1% cheese 4% meat! I was rather disappointed that the meat was so small! Burger as made was rather dry. I get the impression that they are trying to trick the taste buds with carbs and veggies.... So they can omit the meat because it saves them money. It took me 10 minutes to get thru because the IDIOT/THIEF who tried to drive past the pay window and quickly pick up their food - WITHOUT PAYING!! God, I swear. I went here after I had to return things from Costco and I was debating whether or not to have Soulman's BBQ or In-n-out. I decided to go cheap today and go to get a burger as for some reason I was craving it. The drive thru was very busy, so I decided to go inside and eat. There was a line I waited for 15 minutes that almost went out the door. But there was a lot of indoor seating so wondering if I came in during rush hours for the line. I waited for 15 minutes on the food, but one thing cool is they have a touchless soda machine so you just wave your finger and out pours the drink. It wins the heart of this Cali girl time and time again, and it amazes me how ALL locations, regardless of state, seem to do it! Their ingredients are so fresh and they've mastered the seasoning across the board. I've come here twice and counting while in route to visit my parents' home in Oklahoma, and it's such a convenient stop for me! Ummm....and YUMMY! Like, I seriously plan my roadtrip around their hours of operation. Don't judge me lol. The staff is friendly and efficient, both indoors and in the drive thru. They lowkey serve you inside now too. No need, but that's cool. It's in a great location near a Costco and many other restaurants. A great stop for buses with hungry passengers! I typically order a double double protein style.
