Finally able to try this local brunch place and it did not disappoint! It seems like they have a breakfast buffet on Saturdays, which is great! You can't go wrong with all you can eat breakfast! Most of it included eggs, bacon, sausage, monte cristos, and more! One thing I found extraordinarily great about this place is they told me everything is made in house. Which is hands down a plus and make everything much more tasty. Starting with the lunch food, I think they have one of the best burgers around the area! It's very good! They have a burger called the salamander burger, which is double meat, double cheese, and green chilis. It's not on the menu, but if you ask for it they know exactly what you are referring to. If you order the standard burger on the menu it's only one patty. We went on a Saturday morning and surprisingly there weren't very many people there. We are not from the area and on our way back home from Costco stopped in for lunch on a Friday afternoon. Must have missed the lunch crowd as only 2 other couples there. Please was large and clean looking and looked like good choice. Immediately met at door and seated and given menu and drink order taken. Since we arrived before 3pm it was still a lunch menu. Not a real extensive menu as far different than shown on their webiste. Maybe should have asked for dinner menu. Anyway I ordered hamburger and onion rings and wife had BLT with fries. The hamburger was OK but was just a stamped out processed piece of meat. Texture was strange but tasted OK. The onion rings were very good.The BLT I think was supposed to be on sourdough but was on regular package bread with no mayo or anything. Very dry with 2 bacon sstrips and 1 slice tomatoe. Not worth the $10+. While there 2 other couples had come in,sat down,looked at the menu and both left. Just not enough to choose from. Service was good so no complaints there. We came here to celebrate our 50th wedding anniversary. We were greeted by Sean and shown to our table. Very shortly we had water and coffee. This place is located in Jamie Fox town and the service is very pure and southern. I've seen this place as a brunch option for East Dallas and never thought I'd ride by. Today we were riding and saw it and I immediately said "Let's check them out". We entered a little after noon and the brunch menu was no more, however they have a weekend brunch buffet which was $12.99 for the children and $22 for adults I (my husband and I didn't get it but I recall the server sharing the rate). The boys had the buffet and the staff was exception. We visited for the first time yesterday to give the restaurant a try. We were given the lunch menu, which surprised us since I didn't see any lunch-specific pricing. We all ordered the burger, which had a base price of $15.99. They asked if we wanted fries or onion rings--I chose the onion rings--but we weren't told there was an additional charge of $1.99 for them. We also added grilled jalapeños, which had a $1.00 upcharge. The burger itself was good quality, though it was heavily salted. With lighter seasoning, it would've been great. You're also expected to choose your own toppings and add them to your burger yourself. We asked for mustang and mayo, but they only had Grey Poupon and no regular American mustard. They need to learn the basics of running a restaurant. When you seat people, give them a menu or explain how things work. Let them see prices. Don't sit them down and run off. I had high hopes for this place. I was excited to know there was a local place that we didn't have to drive too far to get brunch. I was wrong.... We opted in for the buffet. Not too bad of a start. They had mini monte cristo, eggs, bacon, rosemary potatoes and biscuits and gravy. The second round was when it all fell apart. They ran out of plates and had little to none food left. I decided to get an omelette since most of the food was depleted. The cook was courteous but really needs to spend some more time on presentation and cooking times. As you can see from my picture, my omelette is raw. I'm not sure what technique he was using but he never flipped my omelette over to cook the other side. When he slid it on the plate he then used the bottom of the pan and pressed it against the omelette to I'm not sure what he was doing. I didn't even try to eat the omelette and we just asked for the check. To top it off we asked for an iced coffee flight in the beginning. They told us they weren't sure if they had any left but ended bringing us one half done. It was missing the homemade whipped cream on the top that it came with. I was sad because I saw anther table receive theirs and it was garnished with whip and looked beautiful. The server did end up bringing a soup cup filled with whipped cream after but we were halfway done with the coffee by then. We tried Lula Mae, but we will not be returning. read more

Lula Mae's is in downtown Terrell and is super cute with exposed brick & a good vibe. It's decorated to be nice, but not snooty. The bartender is great and they have a variety of mixed drinks. I don't remember the name of the one I tried, but it was yummy! The food was delicious as well. My steak was cooked to perfection-tender and well seasoned. The mashed potatoes are definitely homemade and they are delightful! The crème brûlée cheesecake was a perfect finish as it was rich and delectable. We came in during lunch hour right alongside a bunch of downtown business people. The restaurant was full and they were understaffed in the kitchen from what our waitress told us, so the wait for our food was long but as my grandma and I both agreed- it was worth the long wait, we both really enjoyed our food- she had a chicken salad sandwich and I had a salad (don't recall the name) and my daughter had the kids chicken tenders which were also super tasty. When we arrived a little before 7, I wasn't sure if we had walked into a work party or what. There were 4 people standing right in the doorway drinking and talking, people standing around all over, what looked like a mini buffet & no one at the host stand. Eventually I saw a gentleman walking around, and he was the only one making eye contact with me, so I said, "Did we just walk into a work party?" He said, "I don't think so." He went over and told a waitress we were standing there, who then yelled across the room, "Hi! Welcome in!" I am 6'5, it's hard not to see me. Ha! Another girl came over, I asked the same question if we had walked into a work party. She looked at another girl and said, "What time is it?" and then said, "No you're good." Not going to lie, it was very awkward at first. I was hungry, had an 85 year-old woman with dementia with me, otherwise, I might have left. I will say one final thing about our entrance, I feel it was unprofessional that the staff did not to ask those people, standing directly in the entrance right in front of the hostel stand, to move. It wasn't like there wasn't a lot more space elsewhere for them to stand. It was also very rude that they didn't take the personal responsibility to do so. BUT, I am glad I stuck with it. Lol! I don't know if that entrance scene is normal for a Saturday evening. Now the positive! The staff were very friendly. The food was phenomenal! When I say their pork chop was so tender, juicy, and flavorful, it might just rank right up there with Perry's Steakhouse in Dallas. I asked for the raspberry sauce on the side. Without it, it was amazing! With it, it was tongue slap your brains out good. The sweet potato casserole was excellent! The grilled shrim, the lady with me had, was very good and flavorful, as well.
