I recently tried the surf and turf at Golden Chick and it was a really satisfying experience from start to finish. The food came out fresh and hot with the chicken perfectly crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside. The shrimp were well seasoned and cooked just right and not overdone or greasy which made the combo feel like a great value. What stood out just as much as the food was the customer service. The staff was welcoming patient and genuinely helpful when I had questions about the menu. My order was prepared quickly and everything was packaged neatly. It is always nice when a place makes you feel appreciated as a customer and they definitely delivered on that. We decided to eat lunch here today. I had never eaten here before. We were greeted warmly by staff. Restaurant was clean and I noticed staff cleaning tables. I ordered 3 piece chicken tenders with coleslaw, fried okra and a roll. The coleslaw was cold and delicious. The roll was soft and fresh. Okra was crunchy not greasy and tasted great. The only thing I did not like was the chicken . The strips were quite small . They were salty and cold. My husband ordered the catfish . He got two very small pieces of fish for 10 dollars . However it was very hot and fresh tasting. Will I eat here again? I will probably return for the sides as I thought they were quite good but I will pass on the entrees. They do offer free ice cream if you dine inside. The ice cream was a disappointment as it had a icy texture not creamy. read more

I have been going here 2 nights a week for several weeks. Each time I order the same thing and each time they tell me they have to check to see if the pieces I am ordering from their #2 on the board, are availabe. At least 3 times now I have either had to wait or come back while they make a chicken breast or wing.Once again last night at 6pm when I normally go they did not have it available. I see they don't do a lot of business but this issue could be why. I am done now too. I have been to this location 2 times and never plan on going back. First time was through a drive through, and they forgot to provide sauces and utensils. I reached out through their email system and did not receive any reply back to address the issues. Second time I went with my family. They were out of ice cream, mac and cheese, and ketchup! And those are just the things we know about. I again sent an email provided on their website to express my concerns about this location as other locations have been great. Again I received an email stating it had been received, but no follow-up from an actual person. I wanted to give them the benefit of the doubt, so after a month of not receiving a reply, I reached out to their main email address provided on their website to make corporate aware of the issues the Tyler, TX location was having. Guess what? Still no response weeks later. Terrible experience. Almost no one there but waited for food for a very long time in drive through and was asked to pull to parking lot and wait. Was charged $30 for two simple meals and did not get two items or any sauces when I specifically asked for the sauces. The shrimp was so overcooked I could not eat it. When they finally brought the food out they apologized for the wait but no explanation of why it took so long and the bag had dozens of napkins crumpled up and shoved in which was so strange. We had been looking forward to going to Golden Chick since it opened here in Tyler but this was some of the worst food we have had in a very long time !!! My husband got the 4pc fish, fries and okra and they forgot his fries and the fish was fried to death. They were more like pork skins then fish. This Golden Chick just open, and they need to close their doors. I will continue to drive to the Golden Chick in Mineola, Texas, about 45 minutes away. My first time going in there was two days after it opened. I waited for over an hour, and they did not carry the fish family meal. I paid 19 dollars for six pieces of fish. Tonight, my husband went there for 6 pieces of fish dinner and one chicken dinner and corn nuggets. We got two chicken dinners without the corn nuggets. We paid for chicken and fish, but we did not get what we ordered. Could not go in to let them know that the order was wrong because the manager locked the doors because an irate customer. Get in the drive thru line, and they closed the line 9 cars ahead of us. They have our money and we did not get our food. Called them, and they did not answer the telephone. So, I am going to bed without eating because I was feeling too bad to cook. I will never go back to that place again.
