I'm extremely disappointed in this Jucy's. I typically have great experiences here but not today. First off, I waited nearly 30 minutes for my burger and fries, which never came. The store wasn't overly busy as I saw only 1 other dine-in customer the entire time I was there. There were several employees just standing around joking. Eventually, I went up to the counter to ask about the status of my food and I was told they gave it away to another customer by mistake and would have to remake it. I was on my lunch break and was running out of time so I asked the employees if they could be quick. As I was standing by the counter, I looked into the kitchen and saw multiple employees pointing to the grill and laughing at something that was being cooked. I then saw one of these employees gesture toward me and say in a sinister voice, "This is fixing to be the most juiciest, tastiest burger he's ever had.. we're making it with love". When he saw I was looking and heard what he said, he looked scared like he had been caught doing something wrong. At this point, there as no way I was eating anything they made. I asked for a refund and left. It's a sad world where a restaurant employee can be the one who makes the mistake of giving away my order but I have to be afraid of something nefarious being done to my food. read more

We've been coming to the 5th Street location for years, but unfortunately we've noticed a significant decline in both the food and the service. We always order the chopped steak platter to share. It has remained good, but the salad, which used to be excellent, is now very disappointing. On our most recent visit, we asked if we could substitute a piece of toast instead of the salad and were told that wasn't possible. About three months ago, we walked in to loud, explicit rap music playing throughout the restaurant, which was not appropriate for the family atmosphere we've come to expect. One ongoing concern is the bean crock pot. We've mentioned several times that it not hot enough to meet safe serving temperatures, but nothing has changed. This is something that attentive management could easily address. We hope the 5th Street location can return to the quality and customer service that made us loyal customers for so many years. read more

I would pay this kind of money for sufficient food and experience however they forgot my mustard, ketchup and avocado add on (my fault for only noticing after I ate half of it). Staff gave it to me no questions asked so I appreciate that. Overheard a customer say they forgot bacon on their burger while I was ordering as well. Also, I heard an employee ask another "what'd we forget" when my mustard was being retrieved leaving me to assume this is a common occurrence at this location. We have always loved Jucy's but had a bad experience yesterday. It took over 30 minutes to get our food and when it came out, it was cold. The pots of self-serve beans were also cold. Customers sitting at tables were talking among themselves about how long they had been waiting ( some almost an hour ) and several people went up to the counter to get their money back. We saw one person who had phoned in an order wait 45 minutes and then finally go get their money back. The only thing that an employee told us was that "the kitchen is behind". Always good! It's always clean, the staff is friendly & efficient and the menu selections are great. My husband always gets the chicken fried steak & it's served with cream gravy, fries and a salad. There was nothing special about the meat or the bun, and the sides were about the same. Was in town to attend my brother's funeral. After the visitation, I wanted to try this place. Got the regular burger, no tomato with tater tots and a medium root beer. Also got a portion of the pinto beans, which are free. Good beans with a hint of heat. The half pound burger was not juicy as they had mashed it with the spatula. They need to use smaller buns also. I will start off by saying I don't understand the Jucys hype, but I'm not from East Texas so maybe that's why. But it quite possibly could be the end result of the visit that left me with that feeling. I'm definitely not pleased. First, their hamburgers are simply delicious. Fresh and good. Great fries and onion rings. Skip the chicken fried steak. Sometimes their chili beans are good (when they are mild), but most of the time they are way too spicy hot. Next to hamburgers here, our favorite is their fresh, homemade breakfast taco (they call it something else, but it's a breakfast taco)--sooo good. Several ways to order it, but we usually order eggs, cheese, bacon/and or sausage. Wrapped in a hot flour tortilla, it's scrumptious. The coffee, however, is horrible. We poured ours out and went to McDonald's for coffee. The service here is generally very good and hospitable. Would be five stars were it not for the coffee, beans, and CFS. All in all, recommended!
