Went for the first time today. It was really good. Cute little restaurant/ Wine shop with a very inviting Atmosphere. I remember buying a Bike there in the 90s when it was Still called Blue wind, but obviously it was a bike shop at the time. They had a pretty extensive menu of Sandwiches, wraps and salads(All light fare) and some very good looking specials, I had the "garbage" sandwich with a side salad. Fairly large sandwich. Loaded with turkey, Pulled Pork, Ham, Swiss and a BBQ sauce on a Ciabatta roll. Great Flavor, very yummy sandwich, But it was just a tiny bit cold in the middle still(A VERY minor complaint). Side Salad was solid, with a great dressing. The Lemonade was also good if a bit on the Sweet side. Service was also very friendly. Definitely 5 stars. I ended up here on a business trip. Living on the west coast I miss things like crab chowder and crab cakes. I found Blue Wind Gourmet searching for Yelp to fuel up after a business meeting and before a long drive in the rain (east coast in February!). I was a bit confused when I walked in. The space is a wine and chocolate bar and has a hipster wine bar look which is suprising for the area. They also have sandwiches (including crab cake) and soup (crab & corn chowder) so I ordered both and settled in. Coffee for me, no wine (too early), but the wine selection looks impressive. The food came out in maybe 5 minutes, hot and fresh. The crab chowder was delicious, plenty of identifiable crab lumps and good flavor. The crab cake also had crab lumps, not just shredded crab. I did wish the sandwich was a bit bigger though. It was maybe about 3 inches square. Service was prompt and friendly too. read more

I stopped by Blue Wind Gourmet while in Patuxent River for a work trip, and it was such a great find. We went on a Wednesday for their Wine Wednesday bottle sale to-go, and the experience was so fun. The woman helping us was incredibly knowledgeable about wine and made it even better by offering us tastings so we could try different options before choosing. She was friendly, welcoming, and clearly passionate about what she does. We also picked up some of their chocolates, including the chocolate-covered pretzels, and they were delicious. They had a great variety of treats and unique items to browse. If you're in the Patuxent River area and enjoy wine, gourmet snacks, and great customer service, I definitely recommend stopping by Blue Wind Gourmet! read more

Been to Blue Wind before but had not provided a review. Went for lunch and it is always a good experience. I had the rockfish wrap with a side salad. Excellent wrap with fresh ingredients. The vibe and service here is always outstanding. Great place to drop in for lunch or wine tasting when able. We did drop in for wine pre-dinner. Good choice and good service. I was in town for a meeting and like to try local places to eat. I found this place on Yelp. I almost didn't go here because the parking lot of was full. Thankfully someone left so I got a spot. It's not a big parking lot. But it's a great local place that you can tell it's where the locals go. I had the special--roast beef with blue cheese. It was delicious! Nice salad with shaved Parmesan cheese. This place was exactly was I was looking for--local place with sandwiches. The staff was friendly. Service was prompt. Cute locally owned business with fresh, simple food! I ordered online for pick up from here. It's a small, homey looking place that's also a liquor store as well as a chocolate confectionary. They forgot one of the items in the order so I had to drive back, but understandable. I had the Rock Fish Wrap with the large lentil/bean/quinoa soup ($12.95 + $4 side upgrade). The wrap itself was a little bland - I had sprinkle it with my own seasoning. The fish seemed fresh, but I'm not even sure if there was avocado in it! Soup was absolutely delicious. The sandwiches and wraps seemed a little small -the Chicken wraps (other orders included the pesto and the chicken mozzarella) were teeny tiny! The chocolate chip cookies looked huge and delicious so if I come again I'd definitely grab one of those. This place is a hidden gem! I'll start with the beer and wine. On Wednesdays, alcohol to-go (bottles of wine, liquor and packs of beer) are 30% off. If you open a bottle of wine and drink it in-house, there is no discount but they do NOT charge a corkage fee. The food was excellent and the menu is actually quite extensive. **the shrimp in the blackened shrimp tacos come COLD. I asked for them to heat it up, she did so without hesitation and it was awesome!** The section of locally made chocolate made my mouth water. Blue one is one of the best cafés in California! Every time I'm in the area I stop by and get their famous salmon BLT with a salad and don't forget the corn crab chowder. This place never disappoints! I continue to be impressed by the quality of their food and the vast selection of new spirits (both wines, beers and liquors). Yesterday I tried the chicken tortilla soup and was BLOWN AWAY by the richness and depth of flavor (it has a little heat so if you don't like a touch of spicy order chicken noodle or the lentil soup). I also love, love, LOVE their Blue Wind Turkey Reuben! The turkey is piled high on delicious rye bread and the homemade sauce is excellent. Seriously, it's the best turkey Reuben I've ever had. I've tried the roast beef and the gyro as well. The roast beef is delicious and I would definitely order again but the gyro is average. Check this though, you get to select your side to accompany the sandwiches: chips; soup or salad. The price is more than reasonable folks...don't miss this treat! I'm sorry the soup didn't make it to a photo ‍ and in my excitement the sandwich barely made it. This place is amazing! Stopped in for a quick lunch and was super impressed. I had the rockfish wrap and chowder while my fiancé had the crab cake sandwich. Everything was fresh and super tasty. I'll definitely be back to explore the menu a little more. The best part about this place for me was their amazing selection of distilled spirits. They offer a nice variety wine and beer but those are not exciting for me. Since getting into town I've been looking for a place that offers some of the locally distilled spirits and I definitely hit the jackpot here. I picked up a bottle of the Tobacco Barn bourbon and a bottle of gin. According to the employee their selection of spirits are intended to be drank straight to showcase the quality of the spirit. Not to say you can't make mixed drinks but why ruin good booze with bad mixers. I am looking forward to coming back and see what new gems I can find. read more

Tried out Blue Wind Gourmet due to ratings and was not disappointed. Really liked the seating area among the wine selection. I had the Cuban sandwich special with the side salad, the sandwich was great and salad was fresh. My family had the chicken breast with bacon sandwich and a couple of Mediterranean Pizzas all was good. The pizza does not have sauce, it's fresh veggies & feta, it was good, but don't expect a traditional cheese veggie pizza. To me this is a local business that has a menu similar to Paneras as you can pair a salad or soup with any sandwich. Veggies are fresh, sandwiches are really good and the seating area is unique, so would pick this over Paneras. Finally they make "Black Point" Chocolate branded candies on site...bought some and was really good. I literally had dreams about eating here a second time. I'm not from this neck of the woods, so unfortunately I only tried this place once the last time I was in town. The food on that occasion was worth obsessing over. On my first visit, I had the crab and corn chowder with a chicken pesto wrap. This was really good and the servings were filling. This second time around, I had a blue cheese Cobb salad and some of that delicious crab chowder once again. I really don't even like blue cheese but this particular salad made me reconsider if that is true. The employees here are very nice and helpful.
