Stopped in on a Tuesday night; it's our first visit. The place was relatively quiet and there were not many visitors. It's a very clean establishment and the staff that greeted us were professional and very friendly. We perused the menu and decided on Thai chili mussels and cheesesteak egg rolls for apps, water and a fig martini for our drinks. The egg rolls came with marinara dipping sauce which was different. Both appetizers were good but lacked in flavor. They were both missing an umami flavor that would have elevated them. The eggs rolls specifically could have benefited from more cheese, a better quality of steak (the menu described it as having rib eye but it was very chewy..I know good ribeye has a nice fat cap but this wasn't that), and salt. The mussels had the spice from the red curry paste but again was missing salt. Sea salt or even soy sauce being added would have elevated that dish. It could have also benefited from some fresh garlic and a fresh herb like Thai basil. To note my martini was very sweet. It was comprised of fig vodka which intrigued me but it just wasn't for me. Our mains were the double crab cake dinner and I ordered a Caesar salad with cajun salmon. My salad was executed okay but with one exception: the dressing. I don't know what it was but it was definitely not a classic Caesar dressing. If you love a good Caesar salad you know the dressing is a crucial element to that salad and as much as I was looking forward to this dish, it failed. The salmon was cooked perfectly, there were shards of parm and not shreds which was a welcome addition and the romaine lettuce fell a bit short as well as it wasn't crisp. Overall I finished the salmon but not all of the remainder of the salad. It was just ok but the salmon definitely saved it. My husband had the crab cake dinner and he enjoyed it very much. There was not much filler in them and they were made with lump crab meat..I venture to say maybe even jumbo lump. I tasted them; they were seasoned very well. The dinner came with fingerling potatoes and coleslaw. I didn't get to taste the potatoes because my husband devoured those..so I guess they were good. I had a bit of the coleslaw and it was dressed well and flavorful; the celery seed in it was pronounced and it wasn't overly dressed in sauce which was good; the cabbage and other vegetables were able to retain a nice crunch. All in all we agreed although some things about our meal could be improved, we would certainly come back. Ale house has been a favorite when I'm in the area, but this last visit was just okay. Service was good. It wasn't too crowded inside, and orders were taken fast and the food came out just as fast. It has a chill bar vibe, which is perfect for a lunch stop. The food however just wasn't doing it for me this time. The chicken pita was flavorless and my wife didn't enjoy her sandwich much. With that, the apple pie is still the bomb!! I will keep this on my list as a dessert option if nothing else. read more

Went to this restaurant with some friends. The kindness and attentiveness of their service at this restaurant was a great environment to be around. I either got the patty melt or the Ale House Burger (I'm only uncertain because I thought I got a burger but it came with sandwich bread) along with ale house fries. The fries were enjoyable and plenty to share with others. The sandwich/burger was okay but the bottom bread was very soggy as well as the fries that were served with it. My friends got wings and another regular looking burger which they seemed to enjoy. read more

Pax River Ale House in Lexington Park (basically California area) is a decent local hangout if you're into craft beer and pub grub--nothing absolutely mind-blowing, but it gets the job done. They've got a solid tap list ...Wings, burgers, Cajun pasta, and fish n chips, etc. Vibe is casual neighborhood bar: laid-back, clean enough, good for watching games or grabbing a quick bite after work/base stuff. Service is usually friendly and quick, even when busy or during weird weather. It's spread out, so it can feel a bit empty at times, but that means no waiting forever for a table. read more

My wife said it was pretty good food, but also a bit expensive (her work had brought some food in from there previously). She ordered the fish & chips, I had a bacon cheeseburger. Food was great, good portion size, tasted like it should. The only thing that was even slightly negative was that I ordered a Stone Hazy IPA, and it was only 12 oz. Generally expect a full pint when it's on tap... 12 oz is for cans. But with two beers (wife ordered a cider that was really good) and two entrees, the whole meal was still only $46, before tip. I t was my first time. It was clean and had great decor being near the Naval Air station. I love wings and they cooked it right. It was juicy and flavorful! It was perfectly fried and remained moist. I figure I should have some leftover at my hotel room so I over ordered. I'm so glad. My favorite was the Cajun Chicken pasta . The chicken was so moist and flavorful and with the thick spiral pasta it was amazing! Being in the Ale house, I have to get the Ale House Burger. It was so tasty! Wife and I were at Hobby lobby and looking to get some food so I went on Yelp to to find something different and this place came up so we decided to check it out. We sat at the bar, the waitress came over brought us water and asked if we wanted anything else. The menu is pretty big we ordered the beer batter onion rings was a little disappointed we thought they would be homemade the ranch sauce was excellent we shared the the chicken parm it was pretty good. Has a menu of familiar comfort foods. Dishes are executed well. The catfish is yummy as is their Maryland crab soup. The burger is generous and grilled carefully. Great space, with large booths and nice bar; there's several TVs scattered about, good for watching sports. I honestly don't get the attraction. I got the Maryland crab soup, the single crab cake meal for my BF and the rib eye steak for myself. I'm from Baltimore; I know crab soup when I taste it and this wasn't that. Really ODD flavor and the beef was in hard chunks, not tender and falling apart like it should. Did I mention it was crab soup? Hard to tell as there was NO crab in it that I could see or taste. The steak was medium rare but was very dry, tasteless, and chewy. I ate less than half before I gave it to the dog. The crab cake was good, just good, not even very good; I've had better, I've even made better. The fingerling potatoes were cold and relatively tasteless, the broccoli was way undercooked, the coleslaw needed to be run through the shredder. Big price, bad meal. read more

Solid choice. It was our first day in town on a Saturday night around 9 and we finally got around to eating dinner. This place saved us and we loved it. Our server was Nemo and she was extremely friendly and attentive. We split a salad and a couple appetizers. We were a party of two adults and the amount of food ordered was perfect. No leftovers, but we left full and satisfied! We ordered the Caesar salad, which I recommend getting the dressing on the side because they really drench it. The Old Bay wings were perfectly crispy and seasoned - not too salty, which is easy to do with old bay. And the steak and cheese egg rolls - yum! They serve the egg rolls with a marinara sauce that I wasn't a fan of, but my husband enjoyed it. I actually ended up dipping my roll in the ranch dressing that came with the wings. Two thumbs up. The Cajun chicken pasta was very disappointing. The sauce was incredibly watery and the dish itself had no flavor, definitely no hint of "Cajun". Sent my daughter here to pickup food and she was told to list the items in her order in order to get it. Confused by this I called the restaurant to get further explanation on why this is required and an extremely rude manager who didn't even allow me to explain my frustration because she was constantly talking over me ended up hanging up the phone. I sent my daughter back to the location to get a refund for the order and she was met by the same rude manager doing the same thing, talking over her and not allowing her to speak before finally just walking away. First it was you need to list what's in your order, then they were claiming you need the confirmation order. When trying to get clarity my daughter says she feels like she's being treated like a thief and the manager says something along the lines of "Yeah that's how we're treating it". My daughter left thankfully because an argument started and I ended up having to dispute the order with my bank to get the refunded for it. read more

Eatery's were closed on the Juneteenth but not the Ale House. Hubby and I decided to stop in and get a bite after my sightseeing all morning. Located close to the Naval Base, it was a nice spot. It wasn't very crowded, a little after lunch like 1:00pm. Hostess seated us quickly and waitress took our drink order right away. I failed to get her first name but her last name was Perez. She was polite and asked me where I was from because of my accent. I'm originally from Hawaii...LOL. Anywho is, we ordered the Flight of beers, Crab soup, Cheesesteak Eggrolls and the Meat Lovers pizza. All of which was terrific!! And for dessert, I ordered the Blueberry Bread Pudding.
