I was not feeling well and this is the only Chinese food place that delivers in Clinton ct the garlic and broccoli /General Tso's chicken was awful everything tasted old and was soggy I would not recommend I wasted $44.68 and when I called to tell of my unpleasant food experience the phone was hung up on me so disappointed .

Artificial lobster meat, aka, crayfish tails

I have been ordering from Golden China for 20 years. It has changed hands I believe but the food has basically stayed the same, which is quite adequate for what we like (not spicy). So I do recommend them, but a caveat: I thought I'd try something new and ordered Lobster Lo Mein. It tasted a little fishy but ok, and then I noticed a remarkable similarity in the shape and size of the little pieces of meat and suspected it's not real lobster. I called them to ask about it, explained I was a long time and valued customer who orders from them a LOT, and to my dismay they lied about it. Further, they insulted my intelligence by asking me repeatedly, Was the meat red and white? (My answer: Yes, but so is crayfish.) And saying, Our lobster meat is all cut up... (no, duh). Only because I pressed on for 7.5 minutes did they admit they use "artificial lobster" which seems to consist of crayfish tails. Then they finally told me that everything on their menu that says "lobster" or "crab" is artificial. I told them I'd appreciate a more honest menu, and also that for goodness sake, we are on the CT shoreline with readily available lobster meat... if they made it with real lobster I'd pay more. So, order away, their shrimp is very good... just stay away from their lobster and crab, unless you are ok with artificial.

The food is very good with generous portions. You will get extreme value. 2 lunches cost $16 and that includes soup and pork fired rice.

EGG ROLLS: They had a funny odor and taste--not to my liking. I decided to dip one in duck sauce and was shocked to find that the duck sauce itself had a strong vinegar taste. The egg rolls went untouched after that. SOUPS: I ordered both wonton soup and noodle soup. Both were acceptable, but neither had much flavor. The wontons were floating in a sea of cabbage, which was interesting. The noodle soup was very pale--the broth and the noodles. CHICKEN WITH BROCCOLI: The broccoli was as hard as a rock, and the chicken was as tough as shoe leather. Cost of this disaster: Approximately $35. For me, this was a one-time-only visit. I won't be ordering from Jia Mai again.

We got to chat with the owner Ping very nice gentleman originally from Hong Kong. He came to check on us to make sure everything is good that we like the food. Because it's late there's only one chef in the kitchen, the food still come out fast and excellent quality. Very good service, our server is very busy cleaning up the restaurant while still refill our water and tea and comes over to clean our table. Very polite people here. This is the best Cantonese dinner restaurants in East Coast, forget about going to flushing ny or Brooklyn if you want authentic good Cantonese food, get the real one here. Reminds me of Hong Kong Chow fun is fresh homemade, i've never had better one!! We ordered beef chow fun. Beef with bitter melon so flavorful tender beef. From the dim sum menu, we ordered the deep fried taro dumplings, steamed shrimp dumplings & our favorite, stir-fried Chinese broccoli with garlic. I wish we had more people so we could order more dim sum items to share! From the regular menu, hubby ordered the lunch combo #14: jumbo shrimp with vegetables, golden fingers, fried rice & egg roll. He loved it & said he would definitely order it again. Golden Palace is an easy add-on if you are at Mohegan Sun! Bonus: dim sum is available daily, which is always a win in my book. I drove past it the first time, but the exterior is intriguing, with waterfalls and small ponds with koi fish out front that caught my attention on the second pass. The interior is large and classically decorated, the kind of dining room that was built to handle volume without feeling like a cafeteria. I noticed the koi fish out front have a quarter machine nearby that dispenses food, a small detail that tends to land well if you are visiting with kids. The overall setup is comfortable and well maintained, and the space gave the restaurant a presence that most Chinese restaurants in the area do not match. The dim sum is the main draw, and it is served until 3pm, so timing my visit accordingly was important. I ordered the har gow and shumai, both well executed and holding up against what I have found at comparable restaurants in Boston or New York. The chili oil is good and worth using liberally. The shrimp wonton noodle soup was a standout and worth ordering on its own. For those coming outside dim sum hours, the full menu covers a solid range of Cantonese dishes. I also tried the fried rice, salt and pepper squid, and chow fun, all of which performed well. The portions throughout were generous enough that ordering with a group and sharing made the most sense. On quieter days, the food quality is noticeably more consistent, which I experienced during my visit. For good dim sum in Connecticut and a Cantonese dining room that takes the food seriously, Oriental Bar and Grill is worth the effort of finding.
