Not sure why it took me so long to get here, but I'm regretting that. It's definitely out of my way, but it gets good reviews and intrigued me from the first time I heard about it. Just a small spot in a strip mall, no dine-in right now, but pleasant enough inside. Interesting menu, and I had a hard time choosing. Went with the summer rolls everyone loves, and vermicelli with grilled chicken. And- wow. The vermicelli was excellent; tons of soft noodles, lots of tasty chicken, loads of fresh veggies. Light, but very filling. The summer rolls were also very good: packed full of freshness, and held together well even when dipping in the peanutty sauce. I'm tempted to give five stars, but I arrived starving so that might have biased my enjoyment. Still, very good, and plenty of food: I had a bit left over for a snack at work, and the entree plus rolls plus a pop totalled less than $15. Friendly service. Good stuff. I'll be back. First time here. Our carry out was ready when we arrived. No inside dining yet. Yelp has a free egg roll when you check in but I didn't realize that until I place my phone order. I'll have something to look forward to next time! The prices were very reasonable for the portions. The won ton soup was very flavorful and loads of fat homemade noodles! I thought it was good, especially for the price. My friend and I asked for extra spicy and that did not happen, but it was very tasty and fast. Shrimp egg rolls were unexpectedly delicious. One star off because they didn't tell us they wouldn't even try to spice it up. read more

We got Lieu's for carry out last week. I got the vermicelli noodles with pork. I was disappointed with how overcooked my pork was. It was hard to even distinguish what type of meat it was because it was so charred. I didn't think the taste was that great and I was not impressed by my meal. read more

This was my first visit, the young taking the order was very friendly and welcomed me to the restaurant, extremely friendly staff. The restaurant was clean and simply decorated. I ordered the fire cracker shrimp and spring rolls, both had a good flavor for me. The spring rolls have slot of mushrooms which tasted different then ones I had before at another place but I personally like mushrooms. The fire cracker shrimp was fresh and not tôo oily. It looks like Clintonville is home to one of the newest restaurants in town. Leiu's Asian Bistro has opened in the old Mili's location and I got to check it out for lunch the other day. The long and the short of it... This Asian fusion restaurant is nothing to look at from the street and it's really easy to miss. Inside though, it's a decent looking little restaurant. It's a neat and clean looking place, nothing fancy but it has some basic decor. The waiter service was polite, pleasant and down to business. Their lunch menu is small but covers all the basics. So to put them to the test, I got their Hot and Sour Soup which was good but not the best I've ever had. It tasted like Hot and Sour and Wonton Soup mixed together. It was a lighter, less pungent style so this might appeal to someone looking for a more mildly flavored version of this soup. The Vietnamese Salad Rolls (Vietnamese Spring Rolls) were really fresh. They are made to order and are probably the largest ones I've seen anywhere and they were quite good. You get two of them for $3.95 so the price is right. The Pad Thai at $7.75 wouldn't be at the top of my list but it was still very good here. Their's has the right balance of flavors and the portion was very nice for the price. I just wish they had made it spicy as I requested but it was still very good anyways. My only real gripe was the service pace. Everything came out at the same time which I found a little irritating. The next time I'll have to make sure I specify that I'm not in a hurry. So all in all, It's pretty good and I'm glad to see them in the area. It's a cold, light snowy day and i had the hunger for some good food (Asian) so i risked into trying a new place just across the street from the residence: sometimes you just have to try a new place, and today i struck GOLD!!! Traditional music video playing in the background, cozy settings, comfortable temperature inside, and the assistant at the counter was prompt, most welcoming, and very helpful in recommending different options on the dishes I wanted to try: not into very spicy foods so she removed the peppers and we added chicken (other alternatives were also offered). Try D 7 - I ordered more fried rice, mag.beef, spring roll and fried roll along with crab rangun....sorry for spellings...The portions are above/beyond expectation, price very-very reasonable, very clean location and helpful people. What makes these meals so enjoyable too is the different sauces that make you want to keep eating even though you are full ;-) What is also appreciated is that the veggies are cooked to perfection Giving you only 5 stars is not enough....100 stars would be proper and fitting and I thank you for a wonderful evening meal at home tonight!!! I don't recall ever loving a rice noodle dish this much. Honestly, one of my favorite vietnamese dishes, particularly on hot summer days. Simple, yet utterly satisfying and refreshing. Your choice of meat, paired with a delicious spring roll, bean sprouts, cucumber, fresh mint, basil and cilantro accompanied with pickled carrots, and crushed peanuts (amongst other delicous toppings), all perched atop a bed of rice vermicelli and a delicious sweet and tangy fish sauce to tie it all together. This location in North Clintonville has been the home of many hit or miss Asian food establishments. Most of them suffered from a lack of consistency and only so so food quality. Lieu's has finally got it right. The restaurant is run by the Thach family, Mom, Dad, older sister, Kim, son Eric and the youngest twins, Lily and Rose. The parents cook and the kids take turns during the week serving customers. The Thach family serves very good Chinese dishes like Hunan Chicken and Chow Fun. But their specialty is Vietnamese dishes. Cha Gio, Vietnamese spring rolls, and one of my go-to meals- grilled pork over fresh veggies and cold rice noodles smothered in a delicious sweet fish sauce. Lieu's serves up my favorite traditional dish, delicious and fresh Pho Ga (Vietnamese Noodle soup with Chicken) in an absolutely enormous portion. The broth is different from other Pho establishments in Columbus. It's a little richer, has a more pronounced flavor than other Pho I've had in town. I'm the Yelp duchess at Pho Noodle on Lane Avenue, and this Pho gives theirs a run for the money. We are regulars at Lieu's and you should be too. read more

It makes me sad to leave a negative review, but my hope is that this will either A) help improve the food quality or B) prevent someone from having a poor meal like we did. The food was delivered an hour and a half after it was ordered. 30 minutes after the "guaranteed delivery time". It was lukewarm at its hottest. The General Tao's was bland, chemically and undistinguishable. The sweet and sour chicken was like shoe leather. My wife ended up not eating it and throwing it away. The one bright item were the dumplings, which were very good. However they were not good enough to save the rest of the meal. I had their Cantonese Chow Fun with chicken. I can't remember ever eating a rice noodle dish, and this was a tasty first time. The sauce that the poultry/noodles/veggies were cooked in was almost sweet. I can't put my finger on it. At any rate, loved all the veggies. And plenty of chicken to satisfy my protein desires. We ordered for the first time tonight found the food barely average and there isn't anything that would make us reorder. My eggroll was burnt and my happy family was anything but happy. The beef and chicken were bland and there were 2 sad shrimp in the whole dish. We also got pork egg foo young that tasted like it had been sitting out and there was random soggy cabbage between the entree and the rice. The Dan Dan noodles didn't have any of the Sichuan spice or nutty crunch we think it should. We've been fans of all the restaurants that have occupied this little space in a strip mall north of Graceland, and Lieu's is no exception. The space is small, simple, but nicely decorated, clean and inviting. It's a family-run business and we've gotten friendly, enthusiastic service each time we've come in. Their pho is outstanding, as is their pork skin vermicelli noodles. Tonight, we ordered carryout and got Mongolian beef, dan dan noodle combo with chicken and pork, their Vietnamese spring rolls (these are a must-have!) and a bahn mi, which was new to us from Lieu's. All delicious! We were not hugely impressed with the bahn mi, but it suited its purpose. Large portions and I'll be having dan dan noodles for lunch tomorrow as well. Ordered advanced pickup via Grubhub. I arrived at the specified pickup time and food hadn't even been started. Okay. Twiddle thumbs and wait. Grumble. Why bother with order in advance? Whatever. Get home and the entree provided was not what I ordered. Called to straighten out and immediately I get arguments from the owner that what I ordered isn't on their menu. Ummm okay, but I ordered it off the menu. So they subbed in whatever they felt like without saying a word. I was sitting right there!! The subbed dish was inedible (and vegetarian to boot), the remaining food I ordered was completely tasteless and shoddily prepared. To the owner: if you are going to allow your service to be this poor at least update your online ordering menus to be accurate rather than accusing your patrons of ordering incorrectly and arguing. My receipt is all the proof I need to show it is your mistake and mistakes should be fixed quickly without hassles. Sheesh. read more

Ok so realistically I'll never be eating here again because I don't know why I would be back in Columbus, OH, BUT...the food is actually pretty good. I would've given 3 1/2 stars if possible. Not 4 stars for the following reasons: There were no vegetables in my fried rice. No frozen peas and carrots, bean sprouts, or onions--it looked like brown rice. Very perplexing. HOWEVER, the flavor was delicious so I could overlook it. 2. I got shrimp egg foo young which was delicious, but the gravy was yellow and I'm used to light brown--this could be a regional thing so I'm not too hard on them for it. The taste was a little weird but not overwhelmingly weird. 3. I had my food delivered so I can't speak for the restaurant ambience. Good food, the lo main was just as greasy and soggy as most other Chinese restaurants, but it was the dumplings and home style tofu that really shined. The dumplings were lightly fried just enough to provide texture without being too crunchy and the home style tofu was piping hot and filled with delicious vegetables and had a nice sauce. The tofu was cooked well, but was not marinated so flavorless- this didn't bother me too much though because it had the perfect texture. The menu has some great options including less known, more authentic dishes and I am excited to try more. read more

I can't say I couldn't complain about this place but I also can't get excited to have it again. I ordered The General Tso's tofu with veggies. It was marked spicy on the menu but was very underwhelming. Fried rice was pretty good and not gummy plus the tofu had a great crust on it that was mildly soggy from sauce. Good flavors once I threw Sriracha on top. My wife ordered the broccoli Chefs special and found it severely lacking in broccoli. She said it was pretty bland and wish she had used Sriracha. Once again the tofu was fried very well. I ended up picking out all the tofu cubes at the end of the night. Lo mein noodles were great. You won't have bad food here but I'm not sure we'll be returning. read more

We went here a couple weeks ago for lunch on a Saturday, because I'd been craving a banh mi sandwich for awhile now. I've heard good things about this new spot, and my girlfriend likes Chinese, so this worked out. The place itself isn't very big, and there's maybe 10 tables. It's a little confusing, since there's a girl behind the counter up at the front, so I expected to order up there and did but found out later she'll come around and serve you. Just realize, if you want to dine in, you can just sit down, and they'll come out and take your order. Anyway, I ended up going with two banh mi sandwiches, since they aren't all that big, a cup of hot and sour soup, and a free egg roll thanks to a Yelp check-in! My girlfriend ordered the General Tso. The food took a good 20 minutes before it was out, and there was probably only 2 people ahead of us. First off, I really liked the egg roll and hot and sour soup. The soup was delicous, probably one of my favorite hot and sour soups in the area. The sandwich was tasty, but it was a bit too dry for me. I think it could have definitely used a bit more of the sauce or mayo that was on it to really give it full flavor. My girlfriend's General Tso's was actually the best dish of the meal. It was fried just right and had awesome flavor. I'm usually not a General Tso's type of guy when it comes to Chinese food, but I really enjoyed it. I grabbed a pineapple bubble tea to go which was quite flavorful but maybe a bit too sweet for my liking. I think that's probably a personal preference. I'd definitely be back if I lived a bit closer just to check out the other options on the menu. If you're in the Clintonville area, this is a great addition to the neighborhood. read more

I've been here a few times since they've opened, and have been happy every time. I usually get Sesame Chicken, but sometimes I stray and get other things. Their chicken was still crispy when I got home to eat it, which doesn't happen a lot when I get takeout. It may be stupid, but that's important to me. I love that little bit of crispiness! Crab Rangoon is among some of the best I've had in Columbus. They also have good dipping sauce. It's not the typical bright red sweet and sour sauce most places give you, but rather a thicker apricot/Duck Sauce, which is really tasty. Beef Skewers are good too! My only gripe is I wish they had more mix-ins in their fried rice. They pretty much just have egg, which I love, but some veggies added in there would be great. This place has been remodeled since being Merlion and Mili. Not a giant change, but it is a little cleaner and nicer looking inside. Workers are very friendly and helpful. Hope this place sticks around a bit longer than Mili and Merlion, as it's probably the best Asian in Clintonville. read more

I have been here 3 times over the last several months & the food is fabulous. I love their Vietnamese spring rolls. Their hot & sour soup is just the right amount of hot. Their crab Rangoons are good also. I usually get the pan fried noodles which comes with several options but I always get the combination as it gives me 3 meats/seafood in the dish. It's very good & it's right up there with the Asian restaurant in LA where I first had this dish. The Best is the bubble tea. The strawberry mango is fantastic! This has become my go to Asian restaurant. The place is small but always clean. It only seats 29. The service is quick & friendly. They like to check on you but don't over do it. I came with co-workers & they both said the food was great. One of my co-workers is really into Asian food & he said this place rates a 4.5 stars. I live nearby and decided to give this place a try a couple of weeks ago, and have already been back several times since. I've only ever gotten carryout so I don't know what the dining in experience is like, but the employees have always been very friendly and service is generally pretty quick. (I did have missing items from my order on my first visit, but it was easy enough for me to go back, and they were very apologetic and re-made them while I waited.) Portions are a bit smaller for the price than other Asian places in the area, but the fact that they offer pho (and banh mi, which I haven't gotten a chance to try yet) are major pluses. Lieu's is right in my neighborhood and has been here for quite some time. I believe you can order them from Grub Hub, but I did carry-out this time. I usually get an entree and some as they call, "salad rolls" which is a quasi-summer roll aka rice paper and not fried. Lately, their quality hasn't been the same. It's kind of a bummer. They're sadly sort of, well, slopping it together quickly and it shows. Unfortunately as my picture shows, my salad roll had brown lettuce, fell apart, and dried out shrimp in the inside. It was really unpleasant tasting. And I got got salt and pepper tofu, and it was EXTREMELY over-cooked. I'm really sad about this as their Pho is usually very good, but my jalapeños and basil were extremely slimy. As in, the jalapeños had a white film and as a chef, that means they've turned.
