They need to update their website prices but so does everyone The major issue I have with current places is they all want to cheap out on the quality of chicken. I've been eating here for a year and a half at least once a week and literally have no complaints. Common sense people, don't expect to get your food on time when you're ordering from a small restaurant where 90% of the working population around it gets home at 5pm. We always order after 7 and if we want to pickup during the busy time.... Order it to be done 30 minutes before you want to pickup!!! (I always forget and pay through the app.) American style Chinese dishes made speedily and correctly. Never had an error even though we special order a lot. Most dinner sized meals are $10-11, and smaller lunch portions are even less expensive. Good value; good food. New parking lot as of mid 2021, so no more off-roading when you pick up. This place was really great! The taste of the food matched the murals on the walls. Lol very good! I got the rice noodle with chicken and a spring roll. Both were great. I'd definitely come back here. There was no line or wait. The guy at the register was prompt and really nice! I LOVED the interior. Wow. Very cool. They painted a mural over all the walls including the hall to the back restrooms. It's rare and never seen in small faster restaurant such a this. about 4 yrs ago my mom brought over dinner. It was Happy House in Grandview and I've been a fan ever since. Tonight's order was General Tos chicken, white rice, egg rolls, and WonTon soup. Ordered via DoorDash. I live on the westside of Columbus so with DoorDash I'm lucky enough to be able to have all of Grandview's foodie spots available! The food arrived on time and hot enough to eat!! General Tos chicken has an amazing sweet but very light spicy flavor. Happy House could add some heat to the dish tbh. The chicken was crunchy on the outside and tender and juicy on the inside! YUM! The egg roll is standard. Happy House shines though with their Soups. Tonight was Wonton. It literally is the best Wonton I've had. The broth is smooth and flavorful, the wontons are slick pork-filled soup treats; next time I'll ask for some chives to be thrown in. happy house has amazing Egg Drop and Sweet & Sour, You can't go wrong on a cold night with an order of Chinese inspired soups. read more

Wow - this Chinese takeout was G O O D! I recently moved to the neighborhood, and finding solid local takeout is always at the top of my "to-do" list after a move. I tried Happy House at the recommendation of a new coworker and was thrilled to find out that (1) my coworker has excellent taste and (2) that I can get a hearty, flavorful meal with about three servings-worth of food for about $10 (it was two servings of food for my hungry boyfriend). It did take a little while to get our food after ordering - about 30 minutes. And, the parking lot filled up while we were there waiting to pick up our food, so cars were waiting on the street to pull in as we left. So be prepared to call ahead or be patient. Also, do note that I am not comparing this restaurant to every other restaurant in Columbus. If so, I would probably sit this one at a 4/5, rather than 5/5. But on a "Chinese takeout" scale, it's a solid 5 stars. read more

Too many errors lately. Loyal customers don't mean much here to the owner. They blatantly forget to put the rice with entrees, staple the bag, you pick it up you dont even bother looking because it is stapled you wouldn't think they'd short you on food but sure enough you get home with half meal gone . Legal robbery lol I'm gonna give this place a rest until they get their act together start caring more about customers and quality of service. The food is Ok but there is no excuse for such errors and delays. Portions have also been cut down lately while prices go up. You can't blame it in inflation. It is stinginess. read more

I got chicken egg foo young and a fountain drink. With the 10% off for checking in on Yelp and showing the cashier my total was about 10 bucks. The egg foo young came w a container of gravy and was very hot and in good portion. Nothing bad at all. Not too greasy but just enough to make it good. When one gets a craving for fast, cheap Chinese food... one must fulfill that craving. When you're sick as a dog, delivery is where it's at. In short, this is why my world has collided with Happy House on more than one occasion. Both times I've ordered from Happy House I got it delivered for dinner. It's easy to order through Yelp and in about an hour or so you'll can expect a knock on your door. It's pain free. The food my first go round wasn't anything special. I ordered Miso Soup and General Tso's with tofu. The General Tso's sauce was very sticky, almost jelly and I wasn't able to finish much of it. The soup was on point though. I sipped it down to the very last drop. My second experience with Happy House was somewhat similar to the first. The tofu again, wasn't the greatest. This time the tofu was over cooked and really hard to eat. The sauce didn't have a lot of flavor and it was really runny. However, my Vegetable Spring roll and the Crab Rangoon were great and filling. Overall, I've had better and I've had worse. I used to live above the best place ever in Chicago and I'm still looking for something similar to it in Columbus... specifically one that offers delivery. I want to find my go-to spot and while this may be it for now, I'm unsure of how long it will last. read more

I find Happy House average and really cheap tasting Chinese food but what a value. There's all the basics you'll find at any hole in the wall spot. It has your broccoli and beef, general tso's, pad thai. The interior is not particularly welcoming. This makes it an easy choice to take out. Its menu is pretty typical. It's got a few good items made with tofu. The best vegetarian items are the family style bean curd, and the tofu in black bean sauce. It's affordable too which is one thing good about it. The food isn't great but you aren't shelling out that much. It made it more tolerable. The family style bean curd is the one served hot and spicy. It's the better one of these. The tofu in black bean sauce is milder. The sauce was pretty icky, like it came from a can, which I'm sure it was. Both of these are pretty cheap. The small portion is $5.75. It's plenty enough for the one person. The bigger portion is $7.75. I am often close enough I could be a regular. It has big portions at totally cheap prices. This used to be our go to Chinese takeout/delivery, but no more. Our last two experiences have been sub-par. Tonight, our food was 40 minutes late and I had to call to get them to complete the delivery. A couple of weeks ago I placed a timed order and they said they could have it ready at my requested time. I ended up waiting in the restaurant for 30 minutes past my promised time. In addition, the food is no longer as good as it used to be. I don't know if there is new ownership or what the situation is, but it's disappointing In addition, if you are a fan of shrimp with lobster sauce, steer clear of theirs. It is basically egg drop soup (served in a soup tub) with some small shrimp in it. It is not served as a meal that you can put over rice. And it was tasteless and not worth eating. When I called about this their response was basically "that's how we make it, and you ordered it, so too bad." No offer to send something else or give a refund... Not my favorite place but it satisfies that weekend chinese food craving. Ordered pad thai with tofu, veggie spring rolls, and family style tofu. The pad Thai was different to say the least -- it didnt taste like pad thai actually and more like lo mein with noodles, wasn't bad but I was expecting something different. The Family style tofu had nice big pieces of tofu but couldn't ignore the fact that it had a very distinct taste and smell of vinegar.
