I am a huge fan of their food. I love their house chow mien and that's how I decide if I like a Chinese restaurant if the chow mien is good and this one is great. My only problem is the language barrier. I like to call and order food when we have friends and family coming over and sometimes I don't know how many are served with an order. When I ask questions the lady doesn't understand me and I don't understand her so I usually end up being very frustrated. We really enjoy Golden China. The quality is consistently good and lots of flavor. My hubby is a fan of the Mongolian Beef and I love the Happy Family. The sauce is just super yummy and variety of meats and veggies is perfect!! We also regularly order the Honey Walnut Shrimp and are never disappointed. Others have mentioned the staff and we love her! She is straightforward and tries to ensure we really want things the way we are ordering them, and is sure to let us know if there's a better way to combine! How in the world have I lived in Lodi my entire life and just found this place? I am very picky when it comes to Chinese food. I kept reading good reviews for this place, and finally decided to try it. I am so happy we went for it. This is, by far, the best Chinese food in Lodi. Our first time ordering, we ordered crab puffs, chicken chow mein, and lemon chicken. Everything was absolutely delicious and fresh! The flavors are all there and I was left feeling so full and happy. I'm not a leftovers person, but I devoured these leftovers the next day. We tried them, again, last night and I am happy to report that they were just as good! Consistency is definitely something that can be found here. This time, we ordered the Family Dinner A for two. That cake with chicken chow mein, pork fried rice, fried garlic chicken, and sweet and sour pork. Everything was exceptional. The fried chicken was the least a greasy fried chicken I've ever eaten. The foods really good unless your getting almond chicken. They gave us peanut chicken. The lady at the front Grace or whatever her name is, she is not nice at all. I don't even like talking to her she's so rude. If you want to get food make sure you know what you want before you go in she hates when you take time to look at time menu. I was told the food was good it sure as Hack was not when I got the beef & Broccoli had a lot of juice, it was not good the broccoli was mushy kinda slimy, the beef looked like and tasted like pork. It's sad because this place used to be one of my favorite places when Grace was here. Yesterday they lost my business forever though. I called to make a to go order. The women who answered the phone never even said hello, just "what can I get you?" I said back "house chicken, and sizzling rice soup please." She then yells back at me with incredibly angry tone "what you want you talk to fast!" Now I realize there is a language barrier, but she could have gone about telling me to repeat myself 100 different ways. I then told her I thought she was extremely rude with her tone and how she went about it. She wouldn't even apologize or remotely admit what she did was wrong. I said I've been a customer for years, but she could of cared less. If she would of just apologized I would of accepted that and made my order, but instead I told her I will never do business with them again and hung up. I've tried Chinese takeout from here, Yume, and Dragon Palace. This is BY FAR THE BEST. The portions are huge for the money. The Broccoli Beef and Spicy Cashew Chicken was delicious!! Excellent Quality, great taste. The meat was very good and flavorful, good texture. The vegetables were large, fresh, and plentiful. Far better than any of the other places. This is our favorite chinese restaurant in Lodi and I think we've tried them all. The house chow mein is full of meat and veggies, not just noodles. The pot stickers are the plumpest we've ever had and the prawns are big inside- not all batter. My wife is a gourmet cook and very picky but loves their food so what can I say? We been going to Golden China for 10 years. Mostly take out because we have 4 kids and that's easiest for us. I was just checking out the reviews because I'm actually heading there shortly to pick up an order and wanted to see what people wrote about Grace (my husband and I had a net going). She's a nice lady despite the reviews about her being rude...Kinda reminds me of the soup nazi. One time my husband asked for miso soup, by accident. We normally get wonton but I'm normally the person that orders so it was just a mistake. Ha - Anyway, she asked him what miso soup was and went on for a good minute about miso. Anyway, this is the only Chinese we do in Lodi. Probably would do better on sot downs with better ambience. Either way it's our family favorite!!! read more
