    204. General Tsaos Chicken 204. 左宗棠鸡

We were craving some good ol' americanized Chinese food and Golden China delivered. S/O and I shared the szechwan shrimp, general tsao's chicken, gourmet vegetables, pan fried pork bun, and two small hot and sour soups. Everything was tasty! I loved the general tsao's chicken (of course) and the shrimp in the szechwan shrimp was plump and juicy. I forgot to get a pic of the shrimp, but it's stir fried (not crispy) with broccoli. I do wish the hot & sour soup was a little punchier. The portion sizes were generous -- enough for dinner for us two and plenty left over. Our server was great, he was attentive and knowledgeable. And we loved their oolong tea!!!!! Comfy booths, chill atmosphere, decent food. Would come again, mostly because I want to try their sweet and pungent shrimp!!!

The best Sweet & Sour Pork ! My favorite go to.

My mom and I came here yesterday for lunch. I haven't been here in over 25 years. Not sure why I hadn't returned, but I'll be back soon! The food was amazing! The lunch portions are huge. The food is fresh and delicious! Only thing is it could have been hotter the service was amazing. The two men helping out were on top of everything. So helpful and kind. They never rushed us and answered questions. They gave great suggestions as well. The restaurant was super clean and decorated very cute. The booths were comfortable and the temperature inside was nice and cool since it was so hot outside. I love that they have lunch specials offered even on the weekends including holidays. In this economy this is a welcome deal.

I often pass by this restaurant on my way to other business in the strip mall. I might have tried it years ago, but decided to give it another try recently. I picked up a lunch special of Kung Pao Beef. You don't get soup in the to go order, but it came with egg rolls, a salad and rice - which made quite a hearty meal. The dish was fragrant and spiced just right. It was very fresh. Although I walked in and ordered on the spot, they prepared the order quickly while I waited. The outside of the restaurant always has signs and photos of highlights and specials. I will definitely try it again.

Golden China prices keep going up. It's best to catch the lunch, (miss it by .41 minutes) before 3:pm that's the best price, otherwise you're going pay the $17. Plus for dinner. My recommendation is take advantage the membership.(sign up required) Suggestion to the restaurant wait staff; get the telephone number of your customer before so the customer is aware of the percentage/gift or discounts pending, and not wait until the end based on what was spent, waiting until the check comes. The young lady today (8/7/26 3:31p) acted as if she didn't know what I was talking about asking "what discount" are you talking about?. Keep explaining, but as if she didn't want to honor your reward program that you are so highly promoting, "membership" you call it. The young lady who bought the check, somewhat very reluctant in giving the 10% discount. We've been coming to Golden China for over 30 years the days when hot tea was free. What keeps us coming back Is the food, it's still authentic Chinese.

Friendly restaurant celebrating its 40th anniversary! We had a lunch gathering there and everyone picked a dish from the lunch special- it was served with Eggdrop or Hot& Sour soup, 1 spring roll, a small portion of crisp lettuce (can use a dressing..), and 1 scoop of white / fried rice. The main course served on a separate plate and the portion was quite generous! I got my all-time favorite--garlic sauce chicken. We also shared twice-cooked pork, eggplant, classic kaopao chicken, fish fillet in black bean sauce, and scallops with veggies. Everyone enjoyed the food and was surprised by the variety of fresh veggies! I love their creative marketing approach in the Membership drive. Once you join the free membership, you will receive a delicious 8-inch boba milk cake on your birthday! I do plan to visit again and try their dinner options!

Golden China has been in business since 1984 and recently changed ownership last year. I've eaten here before for sit down & take out. It's located in a strip mall and cozy inside. In fact, it's next to my P.O. Box and whenever I pick up my mail I'm tempted to go inside. The other day I noticed a sign advertising a Lunch Special and new menu items, so I went in to get some food to go. The menu is extensive and categorized. They now offer healthy bowls, dumplings, and Chinese Pancakes. The lunch special is served daily and consists of an entrée, choice of Hot & Sour Soup or Egg Flower Soup, Egg Roll, Salad, Fried Rice & a Fortune Cooke for $13.75 or $14.50 depending on the entrée. It's a good deal. I ordered Hot & Crispy Shrimp ($23), Sour & Spicy Soup ($14), & Almond Cookies (6 for $3). Since I live nearby everything was still hot when I got home. They also included a side of steamed rice and fortune cookies. I loved the Hot & Crispy Shrimp. It had a nice flavor and the shrimp was plump and juicy. The Sour & Spicy Soup was also very good with lots of bamboo shoots, sliced tofu, & sliced mushrooms. The Almond Cookies were in a little bag and sealed with a sticker that said, "Hand Made." I used to love almond cookies when I was a kid and noticed the quality has changed over the years. However, these Almond Cookies were exceptionally good. I'm glad I ordered them. If you are craving good, quality Chinese food give Golden China a try. *Parking lot

I'm not sure why their ratings aren't better, but this spot was great. My mom recommended it to me after taking her out for errands recently. I had never been, but she mentioned she use to frequent this restaurant years ago. It was pretty dead when we came in with near 2 hours left before closing. The food was excellent and the ambiance was clean. Staff was super attentive. They were also cheaper than other sit down Chinese restaurants in the area. I overall had a lovely experience and highly recommend coming in! I ordered my favorite sautéed garlic green beans and my mom ordered the combination house special noodles. Outstanding! It was served with a small cup of rice. Gold China Restaurant is located in a plaza where the new Trader Joe's is located on Fair Oaks. Ample lot parking.

We love Chinese very much because they use fresh ingredients to make the dishes unique with flavors and spices making Chinese cuisine popular with everybody who enjoy it. I took my wife for lunch to the Golden China restaurant in South Pasadena this restaurant have been in the same location for many years. They have lunch special that everybody comes for their lunch deal. We have been here before but it's been a long time I haven't been there. We step in we were surprise it pack but the host found a table. Then the host hand us the menu then we look at their lunch deal. My wife order the cashew chicken and I order the chicken chop suey it comes with rice with salad and a egg roll and soup. We try the soup it was really good and rice with salad and egg roll. The salad was good but more vegetables or color to the salad and also need more dressing. The waiter brought our meal my chicken chop suey look good I took a bite it was good but I notice every Chinese restaurants have their own version of Chop suey. My wife enjoy her cashew chicken great flavors she say. The staff are very friendly.

Had an amazing meal here! The grilled shrimp were perfectly cooked -- juicy, flavorful, and beautifully seasoned. The beef was tender and rich in taste, with just the right balance of sauce and heat. Simple dishes done really well. Definitely coming back for these two again!

    Pink raw chicken

Tried house special beef and it was battered and fried, which is not how it is described and the sauce was cloyingly sweet and inedible. They offered to replace it and suggested Kung pow chicken which we accepted. I took one bite and the chicken had that unmistakable raw chicken taste. I cut a few pieces open and pulled them apart could clearly see it was pink and undercooked. I showed the owner/manager lady and she said no it's cooked because everything is pre-cooked there. Yuk! We just left everything and paid and left. No compensation offered. Oh, and the bowl of rice they brought out was hard and cold too. Look around a little and you can see how dirty the walls are, under table, the tea kettle and everything, even behind the cashier. Would hate to see what the kitchen looks like. EAT HERE AT YOUR OWN RISK!

    Fried pork chop, excellent
    Truman W.

Ordered lunch takeout. Fried pork chop was not too fatty and excellent, Mongolian beef very tender and flavorful. House special chow fun was also very good - not salty or greasy like a lot of places. These are 3 of my bellwether Cantonese restaurant dishes and they were all excellent. For $5 more I would get the full dinner portion. Also, they don't jack up menu prices for delivery apps like UberEats. That's another a plus.

The restaurant has a nice, natural light filled space, and though it was busy, it wasn't too loud. It worked out well to go with two people so we could try almost all the options... - Scallop aguachile, avocado, salsa macha verde: Came with two shells, each with a little scallop, avocado, zucchini, radish, cilantro. Nice and refreshing to start. - Strawberry and vanilla French toast fingers, pistachio marzipan: A very generous portion of French toast with strawberry jam and pistachio sauce. Nice and crunchy crust. It was an interesting contrast to the aguachile first course! - Crab cake eggs benny: Two poached eggs on crab cakes. This was good, nothing unexpected, though I was getting pretty full at this point. - Summer berries, Scottish shortbread, white chocolate mousseline: This was the only dish we were disappointed by. The shortbread was pretty bland and the texture was lacking crispness. - Profiteroles, vanilla ice cream, strawberry ice cream, hot fudge sauce: Simple dessert but put together well. We both also ordered Purple reign cocktails, which went well with brunch. Overall it ended up being quite a bit of food and a good value for two.

(Perhaps if it has to be that sweet balance it with spice) The mussels were bland, I hope they add salt and pepper next time. The fish was excellent though, perfect, no notes, we all loved that. So good. We asked to start with the oysters and focaccia, then the mussels and for our main course the fish and brussel sprouts. Mind you there are 3 other tables in the entire place at 8:30 on a Saturday.. The first thing to come out of the kitchen was the main course side, the brussel sprouts. We reminded the waiter this was for the main course. He just stood there genz staring. I asked nicely if it would be OK to keep those on the warmer until the main course is served, he silently took them away. Then not 3 minutes later all of the food was delivered except the oysters, our appetizer. It kinda ruined the experience for us forcing us to eat every at once, quickly before it was cold. Killed conversation, Killed the vibe. And if was coursed properly we probably would have ordered another bottle of wine. So it Killed the bill and the tip too. It wasn't busy at all on a Saturday night, so it's not like the kitchen was slammed and accidentally pushed everything quickly. The oysters came out last, and we never got the focaccia, nuff said. We didn't bother complaining. We didn't want to be difficult and we aren't looking for a freebee. But at that price point they should know how to course a meal. Sad, but I don't think this restaurant will be here in 6 months. So go now if you have been wanting to try it.

I came here with a friend, just the two of us, and the portions were HUGE. We ordered a lobster that was around 3-4 pounds, and the lobster is priced per pound. I believe we had the Boston Lobster House Special, and we added the noodles for about $10 extra. Let me tell you and it did NOT disappoint. The lobster was incredibly fresh, perfectly seasoned, and absolutely mouthwatering. The noodles soaked up all that flavor from the lobster and seasoning, and everything together was just delicious. I kept wanting to eat even though I was already getting full! It is a little pricey, especially depending on the size of the lobster you choose, but they give you A LOT of food. There were only two of us, and we each had enough food left over to take home and have another full meal. Honestly, the amount we ordered could have easily fed four people. We also had the shrimp fried rice, which was delicious, and even the lemon iced tea was really good. I wanted to try more things, but there was absolutely no way, we already had so much food! This is definitely more of a family-style dining experience. In my opinion, this isn't your typical quick Chinese food spot or chain restaurant. The quality, freshness, portions, and overall experience put Boston Lobster on another level. I also loved the atmosphere. We sat near the live seafood tanks, so you can actually see the lobsters and other seafood in the tanks, which added to the experience. They also have their own private parking lot with two-hour parking, which is a huge plus. We didn't have reservations and were able to get seated, but I could definitely see this place getting crowded, so reservations may be helpful during busier times. We couldn't stop eating it 10/10 House special lobster - was fire!! It was very easy to take out the shell and it was so tasty. Would definitely recommend! 100/10 French beef - not the star of the show but still was really flavorful! 9/10 Sour soup - it was a good soup and tasted like all the other sour soup nothing too special :) 8/10 Ong choy - we needed some vegetable on the table and steamed ong choy w garlic was really good and refreshing. 10/10 Fried rice - matched w everything we were eating 9/10

This review is really about the owner, Leroy. I wanted everyone to know what a kind and genuinely…read morecompassionate person he is. One of his customers accidentally drove into the wall in the parking lot. Instead of getting upset or angry, Leroy's first reaction was to make sure she was okay. I helped translate for them, and he kept reassuring her, saying, "As long as you're okay, everything else is okay." He told her not to worry about the damage because he was just happy she wasn't hurt. Seeing how shaken and upset she was, he even gave her a quick side hug to comfort her. In a situation where many people would have focused on the accident, Leroy chose kindness and empathy. That says so much about his character. It's rare to meet someone who genuinely puts people before property, and I think that's something worth recognizing and supporting.

Fish was good but service not so much. My friend went in before me because I was taking a video wanted to shout them out on social media but when I walked in the man looked up at me stared for a little bit and went back to loading the fish. I stood there looking at the menu he still never said anything. I finally walked over to my friend and asked if he acknowledged him when he came in and he said yes. I was ready to walk out but he wanted to stay. We decided on what we wanted and walked over to order and I swear it felt like he didn't want to hear what I had to say it was almost like I shouldn't be speaking let the man order and handle it. If that wasn't the case it's definitely the vibe I got. I asked him could he fry my fish hard he mumbled something and looked to my friend for his order. Guest what my fish wasn't fried hard......Lol Overall the food was good and prices were great but the service will keep me from returning.
