Date: June 27 Purchases: Patty Melt wirh Garlic Fries Hot Tea - English Breakfast Experience: This was the second time that my husband and I have been here with our first time trying out their breakfast menu and this time we got to the their lunch menu. I ordered a hot tea since I was feeling under the weather. The tea did not come with its own little teapot and had to be refilled by our server by taking my cup and bringing it back to me. I ordered the Patty Melt cause it's my go to for diner places when I can't decide and chose Garlic Fries because I'm a sucker for garlic anything. My husband caved in and got their 1776 Burger special that was made in celebration for America celebrating 250 years of freedom. The food came quicker than expected and we dug right in. The Garlic Fries were a bit oily and definitely garlicky, but good. The Patty Melt was great and I love how then use the marbled rye bread. I looked over at my husband who was wanting me to give his burger a try, but it looked too messy and saucy for my liking and let him enjoy his meal. Overall, definitely prefer lunch over breakfast that we had before and would want to try more of their menu the next time we visit. read more

This place is SO SO incredibly overpriced for what it is, it borders on parody. Like absurdly overpriced for diner food. I honestly don't know why people go here for breakfast. Also, the price on the menu for orange juice is misleading. They list one price but if you get a large orange juice, they charge you double stating that the price is for a small. NO WHERE does it say that. Pancakes are at least good though. You can get a much better breakfast for far less at a million other places. read more

Unfortunately, this will be our last time dining here. My husband and I were seated about five minutes after arriving, which was reasonable. However, the service was extremely slow from start to finish. We sat outside around 6 pm. and observed a male server attending to his tables quickly and attentively, while our server took over 15 minutes just to bring our drinks. Once our food arrived, she never checked on us once food was dropped off, and it took an excessive amount of time to receive the check. We even were made to feel bad for asking a food runner for a side of ranch and were greeted with an annoyed face and telling us she would let our server know; which she never did. The food may be OKAY, but the level of service did not justify the price or the long wait. Overall, a very disappointing experience. read more

Good food & good portions! There were 5 of us and the service was good! Everyone ordered something different and then we ordered a bowl of chili to share. That was tasty. The steak salad comes like steak and a side salad; not the steak on top of the greens. The greens are arugula and it was good but small. I would definitely not recommend the Greek salad. Lots of romaine but The tomatoes and onions are very scarce; could hardly taste them. Their tuna melt was the better option. On this visit, my wife ordered a patty melt with a side of garlic fries and a hot tea. I ordered the waiter's recommendation: a limited-time, mouth-watering "1776 Burger" made with BBQ sauce, coleslaw, a beef patty, pulled pork, and cheese, with a side of fries and a blended lemonade. ​Overall, everything was exceptional, except for the burger's bottom bun, which got really soggy after a few minutes and made it difficult to hold. Just came by for a cocktail with a few friends. It feels like a diner but they do have a full bar. They have different names for classic cocktails. I got the Seco washout which is like a spicy margarita. I actually did not like it despite loving spicy margs. My boyfriend got the All Along the Watertower which is essentially a Painkiller. I had a great experience at Twoheys Restaurant and would absolutely give it 5 stars. Our group loved the vibe right when we walked in. It felt lively, welcoming, and like the kind of place you want to hang out and enjoy good food with friends. Our table ordered a little bit of everything. We had the fried chicken, burgers, calamari, spaghetti with meatballs, and a salad. Every single dish hit the spot. You could tell everything was fresh and made with care. The fried chicken was crispy and flavorful, the burgers were juicy, and the spaghetti with meatballs tasted classic and comforting. The service was efficient and friendly, which made the experience even better. We came during happy hour and were able to grab drinks and an appetizer at really good prices. We are from Northern California and honestly wish we had a place like this back home. This is definitely a spot to remember and return to the next time we are in the LA area. I was very impressed with the new Twoheys. They were in Alhambra for many years and moved to this location in 2020 when the former Carmine's Italian restaurant closed. They created a new and amazing look that is very bright and welcoming. The service was great! My server, Aaron, was very pleasant and accommodating. I had the Turkey California Club sandwich with French fries and the sandwich was very tasty. The waiter told me if I didn't want the third bread I could request the sandwich without it. Tip for anyone who orders this sandwich and doesn't want the extra bread. The fruit was fresh and somewhat sweet. They are closed on Tuesdays so keep that in mind if you choose to go. read more

Twohey's is a cozy hometown diner that is always amazing. They have a wide variety of delicious comfort food. This time when I went I wanted breakfast for dinner and sure enough they had it. (See attached omelette picture.) All of the staff, from servers to management, are pleasant and helpful. One time a manager walked by and saw my young granddaughter was with me and brought her some chicken noodle soup because that's what she always served her young grandchildren. Another thing I really appreciate is if there is an issue, they will make sure it is resolved immediately. Twohey's is a favorite go-to for our family!! read more

I'm no stranger to Twohey's; I'm a little surprised I haven't reviewed them before. I used to go to the old location where In-N-Out is now, I vaguely recall that location was either a renovation or relocation. I've visited the newest location in South Pasadena the most; it's in a building that has gone through several iterations. When they moved to SoPas, Twohey's gained a full bar and bar area separate from the restaurant, plus a large outdoor dining area. They serve breakfast, lunch and dinner, plus cocktails and a Happy Hour menu. They are well-known for their soda fountain and desserts. I visited recently for a late breakfast, which they serve until 3 pm. Twohey's may become the prime SoPas breakfast spot soon, what with nearby Shakers unfortunately scheduled to close soon. Twohey's was having a Lobster Fest, with several lobster specials. I ordered the lobster omelet, which also contained shrimp, tomatoes, spinach, capers and a cream sauce. These ingredients were also available as a pasta dish. The omelet was fine, as were the hash browns, which were suitably crispy. There was only one slice of sourdough toast, but it was thick. I also ordered a side of onion rings, which they are known for. They are fresh and delish, not prefab. One of the better deals here is to order a sandwich or burger and make it a ring combo, so it comes with your original side choice PLUS onion rings for half the price of an a la carte order of rings. I also like their slushy drinks, which can contain alcohol. I like the non-alcoholic strawberry limeade. As mentioned before, their soda fountain items are old-school and yummy. A milkshake of course comes with the metal container it was made in. More than a few diners come here for especially for dessert. A classic, similar to but different from Shakers. I have been here twice. If I had to choose a favorite, it will be their buttermilk pancakes!! ‍ They are not very thick but they are so buttery and soft. Spread some butter and syrup on them and it's the best combo! It is a very busy and noisy place, but the staff is very attentive, friendly and willing to answer any questions you may have about their menu. It gets VERY busy during brunch time, and parking is a bit difficult to find, waiting time for us was about 30 min the first time. The second time we got there around 2p and didn't have to wait to be seated. Breakfast is served until 3p. Overall definitely recommend! read more

Our server was there and attentive - we didn't have to ask for anything like refills, they just showed up My Cobb Salad was very fresh, crispy lettuce, radishes, avocado ... and loved the Ranch Dressing. Another "home run" was the zucchini bread that came with the salad. Moist and SOOO nicely herbed and spiced. I was passing by this place many times since I moved to Pasadena, but never got a chance to dine here. Gave it a try tonight and was not disappointed! Although it was a longer than 15 promised minutes wait time before we got inside, it definitely worth it! Amazing service, relatively quick and delicious food. The food here is pretty decent. Haven't been back since they move from the Alhambra location near in n out. The decor here is very elevated and modern now compared to the original diner feel. The side salad here is pretty dec by size when added an entreee and really enjoyed their house dressing. The short rib melt was really good. The short rib was packed into the sandwich. Went back to one of my old standby's just for a quick snack dessert and coffee. I had been craving the milk chocolate hot fudge sundae that only Twohey's makes in this area and a coffee to go with it. Greeted by the sweetest hostess and sitting at Frida's table made the trip perfection! While I was there I decided to have some onion rings to go with the dessert because I was a little hungry also. The Onion Rings were THE BEST because they are made from real, thick onions where you can actually taste the flavor of the onion and not just a mouthful of crusted batter! The Sundae, oh the Sundae, always has been the best with their real vanilla ice cream, real milk chocolate hot fudge (NOT Hershey's syrup), and of course the homemade whipped cream that is the perfect addition. Top it off with some almonds and a cherry, immaculate!! Nothing better! Though I didn't eat a real meal, from eating there my whole life, I can tell you their meals and burgers and other appetizers and side are just as bomb as my little snacks! Ordered the Prime Rib dip and it was great , flavorful prime rib, crusty roll and the au jus was excellent. They even offer raw horseradish...bonus! The service was genuinely great too. I remember when they were located off of Huntington Drive in Alhambra and being sad when I thought it closed, but I was ecstatic when I learned it only moved to South Pasadena! Two things haven't changed since, the delicious food and extremely nice workers. On my most recent trip we took my mom out to breakfast for New Years Eve! The wait wasn't too bad, about 10-20 minutes for a table of 3. Our server was extremely nice and helpful. I ended up ordering the biscuits and gravy with egg whites and sausage. It was amazing! I enjoyed every single bite. My fiancé and mom loved their breakfast orders as well! They both ordered pancakes with eggs and bacon. Our plates were licked clean by the time we were done! Our coffee's were never empty, so huge shoutout to our amazing server that day. I wish I remembered here name, but she did mention she was going to watch the Stranger Things finale that night with her son, so I hope they enjoyed the finale. Very cool restaurant. We went here for a school fundraiser and had a short wait (it was a rather busy night!). Once seated, we were attended to immediately. Shout-out to our server for her quick and efficient service! We ordered the hot wings appertizer and they surprisingly lived up to their name. I then ordered a regular cheeseburger combo for my son, while I had the short ribs sandwich. I have to admit, the short ribs sandwich was much better than I thought it was going to be! It was super delicious. My son had the Oreo milkshake and he said it was great. I had the famous ice cream sundae and I'm glad I got the small size becaue it was rather big! Met some friends for Sunday Brunch. Had been meaning to check Twohey's off the list. Overall..Not as good as I expected it to be. It was an extremely busy day. 45 min wait turned into an hour or longer. We had a large party of 10.We sat in a separate room of the side of the bar, which was kind of nice. Waitress was nice. She kept the drinks flowing. I ordered chilaquiles. I try them everywhere. I didn't enjoy them at all. chips were soaked in the sauce instead of sauce poured on top. so there was no sauce on the dish which left everything else dry. steak slices were dry and way overcooked. Maybe I should have stuck to some simple boring breakfast item. My son ordered french toast. Nothing special to it. Looks like something he cooked himself at home. My husband got a breakfast sandwich or burger that was tasty though, so that was a win. The drinks I had were good. Had a couple of the Meridian cocktail and had a couple sips of my friend's bloody mary. I would come back for drinks and appetizers. Not sure how I feel about another meal. read more

Was recommended by my brother and sister-in-law. I trust their taste but it honestly kind of blew my expectations away. I came here with my mom this past Sat and waited maybe 10 mins when I got here around 9 AM. FIrst of all, I would say I was the most surprised by their hot coffee. I know it's only "coffee" but the coffee was actually really good and not to mention hot. Service was very good too. I didn't expect much from the service but I thought it kind of exceeded my expectations. My mom and I got the Short Rib Hash and the Country Fried Steak. I loved both of them a lot. Came with bread too and those were good as well. I think my short rib were well seasoned, loved all my potatoes and when you put some short rib, egg, and potato together how wrong can it get. I loved the country fried steak as well and hats off to their hash browns (loved breakfast hash browns) for being really crispy. It was prob standard pricing in terms of American breakfast/ a little cheaper than some that I've been to. I would highly recommend it for American Breakfast. read more

Old school since 1943. You can enjoy breakfast meals even at dinner time as it's served all day. The staff is always great and we had a very friendly young waitress serving our group. We ordered an omelet with sour dough bread for dinner and it was actually really good. This place is my go to after going to the Rose Bowl antique fair. The food is really good, though I wouldn't call it. Mind blowing. It's standard fare with quality ingredients. For me personally, I would say the cocktails are my favorite part. Food portions are fairly large for the price point. Drawbacks would be the lack of parking (which obviously they can't help), and the wait times. Make a reservation if you can, as it gets really crowded on the weekends! read more
