I was passing by this place many times since I moved to Pasadena, but never got a chance to dine here. Gave it a try tonight and was not disappointed! Although it was a longer than 15 promised minutes wait time before we got inside, it definitely worth it! Amazing service, relatively quick and delicious food. I had a great experience at Twoheys Restaurant and would absolutely give it 5 stars. Our group loved the vibe right when we walked in. It felt lively, welcoming, and like the kind of place you want to hang out and enjoy good food with friends. Our table ordered a little bit of everything. We had the fried chicken, burgers, calamari, spaghetti with meatballs, and a salad. Every single dish hit the spot. You could tell everything was fresh and made with care. The fried chicken was crispy and flavorful, the burgers were juicy, and the spaghetti with meatballs tasted classic and comforting. The service was efficient and friendly, which made the experience even better. We came during happy hour and were able to grab drinks and an appetizer at really good prices. I was very impressed with the new Twoheys. They were in Alhambra for many years and moved to this location in 2020 when the former Carmine's Italian restaurant closed. They created a new and amazing look that is very bright and welcoming. The service was great! My server, Aaron, was very pleasant and accommodating. I had the Turkey California Club sandwich with French fries and the sandwich was very tasty. The waiter told me if I didn't want the third bread I could request the sandwich without it. Tip for anyone who orders this sandwich and doesn't want the extra bread. The fruit was fresh and somewhat sweet. They are closed on Tuesdays so keep that in mind if you choose to go. read more

Twohey's is a cozy hometown diner that is always amazing. They have a wide variety of delicious comfort food. This time when I went I wanted breakfast for dinner and sure enough they had it. (See attached omelette picture.) All of the staff, from servers to management, are pleasant and helpful. One time a manager walked by and saw my young granddaughter was with me and brought her some chicken noodle soup because that's what she always served her young grandchildren. Another thing I really appreciate is if there is an issue, they will make sure it is resolved immediately. Twohey's is a favorite go-to for our family!! read more

I'm no stranger to Twohey's; I'm a little surprised I haven't reviewed them before. I used to go to the old location where In-N-Out is now, I vaguely recall that location was either a renovation or relocation. I've visited the newest location in South Pasadena the most; it's in a building that has gone through several iterations. When they moved to SoPas, Twohey's gained a full bar and bar area separate from the restaurant, plus a large outdoor dining area. They serve breakfast, lunch and dinner, plus cocktails and a Happy Hour menu. They are well-known for their soda fountain and desserts. I visited recently for a late breakfast, which they serve until 3 pm. Twohey's may become the prime SoPas breakfast spot soon, what with nearby Shakers unfortunately scheduled to close soon. Twohey's was having a Lobster Fest, with several lobster specials. I ordered the lobster omelet, which also contained shrimp, tomatoes, spinach, capers and a cream sauce. These ingredients were also available as a pasta dish. The omelet was fine, as were the hash browns, which were suitably crispy. There was only one slice of sourdough toast, but it was thick. I also ordered a side of onion rings, which they are known for. They are fresh and delish, not prefab. One of the better deals here is to order a sandwich or burger and make it a ring combo, so it comes with your original side choice PLUS onion rings for half the price of an a la carte order of rings. I also like their slushy drinks, which can contain alcohol. I like the non-alcoholic strawberry limeade. As mentioned before, their soda fountain items are old-school and yummy. A milkshake of course comes with the metal container it was made in. More than a few diners come here for especially for dessert. A classic, similar to but different from Shakers. Plus first my lady having this course and she love it as we were seated outside the front patio in the shade was perfect. I have been here twice. If I had to choose a favorite, it will be their buttermilk pancakes!! ‍ They are not very thick but they are so buttery and soft. Spread some butter and syrup on them and it's the best combo! It is a very busy and noisy place, but the staff is very attentive, friendly and willing to answer any questions you may have about their menu. It gets VERY busy during brunch time, and parking is a bit difficult to find, waiting time for us was about 30 min the first time. The second time we got there around 2p and didn't have to wait to be seated. Breakfast is served until 3p. Overall definitely recommend! read more

Went back to one of my old standby's just for a quick snack dessert and coffee. I had been craving the milk chocolate hot fudge sundae that only Twohey's makes in this area and a coffee to go with it. Greeted by the sweetest hostess and sitting at Frida's table made the trip perfection! While I was there I decided to have some onion rings to go with the dessert because I was a little hungry also. The Onion Rings were THE BEST because they are made from real, thick onions where you can actually taste the flavor of the onion and not just a mouthful of crusted batter! The Sundae, oh the Sundae, always has been the best with their real vanilla ice cream, real milk chocolate hot fudge (NOT Hershey's syrup), and of course the homemade whipped cream that is the perfect addition. Top it off with some almonds and a cherry, immaculate!! Nothing better! Though I didn't eat a real meal, from eating there my whole life, I can tell you their meals and burgers and other appetizers and side are just as bomb as my little snacks! I remember when they were located off of Huntington Drive in Alhambra and being sad when I thought it closed, but I was ecstatic when I learned it only moved to South Pasadena! Two things haven't changed since, the delicious food and extremely nice workers. On my most recent trip we took my mom out to breakfast for New Years Eve! The wait wasn't too bad, about 10-20 minutes for a table of 3. Our server was extremely nice and helpful. I ended up ordering the biscuits and gravy with egg whites and sausage. It was amazing! I enjoyed every single bite. My fiancé and mom loved their breakfast orders as well! They both ordered pancakes with eggs and bacon. Our plates were licked clean by the time we were done! Our coffee's were never empty, so huge shoutout to our amazing server that day. I wish I remembered here name, but she did mention she was going to watch the Stranger Things finale that night with her son, so I hope they enjoyed the finale. I had to flag him to ask about dessert and he rattled off the choices from memory, so we chose to share an NY cheesecake. The slice was breathtakingly small, but nice having a rosette of whip creme on the side. The service was adequate but other customers seemed to be more important, and I didn't appreciate that since I brought my mom here to impress her with a nice dining out experience. Overall, we were happy campers, comfy in our booth, and it was nice that the inattention gave us a leisurely dining experience. Mission accomplished. Very cool restaurant. We went here for a school fundraiser and had a short wait (it was a rather busy night!). Once seated, we were attended to immediately. Shout-out to our server for her quick and efficient service! We ordered the hot wings appertizer and they surprisingly lived up to their name. I then ordered a regular cheeseburger combo for my son, while I had the short ribs sandwich. I have to admit, the short ribs sandwich was much better than I thought it was going to be! It was super delicious. My son had the Oreo milkshake and he said it was great. I had the famous ice cream sundae and I'm glad I got the small size becaue it was rather big! My only complaint were the prices. I thought they were a wee bit expensive so this will be a treat, for sure. But I do recommend this place! read more

Met some friends for Sunday Brunch. Had been meaning to check Twohey's off the list. Overall..Not as good as I expected it to be. It was an extremely busy day. 45 min wait turned into an hour or longer. We had a large party of 10.We sat in a separate room of the side of the bar, which was kind of nice. Waitress was nice. She kept the drinks flowing. I ordered chilaquiles. I try them everywhere. I didn't enjoy them at all. chips were soaked in the sauce instead of sauce poured on top. so there was no sauce on the dish which left everything else dry. steak slices were dry and way overcooked. Maybe I should have stuck to some simple boring breakfast item. My son ordered french toast. Nothing special to it. Looks like something he cooked himself at home. My husband got a breakfast sandwich or burger that was tasty though, so that was a win. The drinks I had were good. Had a couple of the Meridian cocktail and had a couple sips of my friend's bloody mary. I would come back for drinks and appetizers. Not sure how I feel about another meal. read more

Was recommended by my brother and sister-in-law. I trust their taste but it honestly kind of blew my expectations away. I came here with my mom this past Sat and waited maybe 10 mins when I got here around 9 AM. FIrst of all, I would say I was the most surprised by their hot coffee. I know it's only "coffee" but the coffee was actually really good and not to mention hot. Service was very good too. I didn't expect much from the service but I thought it kind of exceeded my expectations. My mom and I got the Short Rib Hash and the Country Fried Steak. I loved both of them a lot. Came with bread too and those were good as well. I think my short rib were well seasoned, loved all my potatoes and when you put some short rib, egg, and potato together how wrong can it get. I loved the country fried steak as well and hats off to their hash browns (loved breakfast hash browns) for being really crispy. We have been here a number of times and never had an issue before. But today, we had the vegan breakfast burrito and short rib hash. Both were fine, although the hash was quite oily. The real issue was the customer service. The breakfast section of the menu clearly says you can substitute fresh fruit or salad for potatoes, which we did. But when the bill came, our server said those were not included and charged us for both. $5 for fruit and $3 for salad. When we asked the server about it, she said neither were included. I just checked the menu again and they clearly are included. If there is an upcharge for the substitution, the menu does not disclose this. Either way, it doesn't seem kosher. It's a shame because it's a small amount to lose regular customers over. read more

Long Review: So, in the South Pasadena area, Twohey's is an institution. They've been in the area at least 75 years. This location is relatively new in the last decade. They were at a location bordering So Pas / Alhambra, but moved into this space that had previously been vacated for years by an Italian restaurant that just didn't make it. The area is now revitalized with the addition of this restaurant to the location - which is what you want from every business don't you? A company that gives and celebrates its community? The menu is varied and good. Vegetarian and Vegan options a-plenty but good, fat bacon too!! ;) They have indoor and outdoor seating and are great for accommodating large parties for birthdays and other celebrations. My youngest cousins & I had dinner at Twohey's on a recent Friday night. They were understandably busy so we waited about 15-20 minutes until we got seated. No big deal, as we were looking at the menu trying to decide & strategize on the what were gonna order/share. Ha! They have a covered waiting area with heat lamps which is nice. Host table was set up outside the entrance as well. I was a regular customer at the Alhambra location spending many post-Friday night lights there for diner food and this was my first time at the South Pas location. I tell you what, I like this location so much more. No more sharing an insane parking lot with In N Out next door and the updated, modern, bright, well-lit interior of the South Pasadena location gets my nod for sure. Our party of 3 was seated in a booth in Laura's section and we just loved her so much. She was running around helping other tables as we had just gotten seated and she made sure we knew she'd be by soon. She was great with her attentiveness & care (She even noticed my cousin's Stranger Things" t-shirt) and commented that she had something to show us. It was a photo of someone dressed up for Halloween that was full-on in character from the show. Laura really made our dinner that much more memorable. Very cool. 2 of us ordered the Heckels Prime Rib Dip ($21.95) and it was delicious. No cheese for me as I'm a purist. It's described as house roasted prime rib, horseradish Jack cheese, caramelized onions, horseradish-herb aioli on a french roll with jus. I picked their homemade potato chips to pair with my french dip and it was perfect. I loved the taste of the sliced prime rib, the slight crunch of the french roll, the complimentary flavor of the aioli and the au jus for dipping. It was great and I would order it again. I loved the homemade potato chips. Nice, salty & crispy.... My other cousin ordered the Short Rib Melt ($20.95) and he said it was so good. Slow-braised beef short rib, Jack cheese, Tillamook cheddar, bacon jam, horseradish aioli on sourdough. It looked really good. For dessert, we ordered a small strawberry sundae ($9.95), a chocolate/strawberry double thick shake ($8.95) and I got an Oreo double thick milkshake. It was SO GOOD. I was originally gonna get it to-go but Laura (ever looking out for us) said if I order it to-go I'll only get half as much because when having it inside the restaurant, you get the additional metal tumbler alongside it so you'll get more and can just take the rest home. She was totally right and I will never doubt her again. Thank you Laura! Thanks for being so great to my cousins and I. I will always request to be in your section when returning to Twohey's.
