Gus's BBQ definitely delivers. I ordered the picnic platter with ribs, chicken, and brisket... everything was tender, flavorful, and cooked just right. Loved that there are four different sauces at the table, and each one was actually good. Service was attentive, and we were seated by the front window which made it feel a bit more intimate. Great food and overall experience. I'd definitely come back.

Liked the St. Louis baby back ribs. Didn't really like the chicken - too herby and a tiny bit spicy (for me anyway. Mac and cheese was just ok, but I gave most of it away (same with the chicken). I enjoyed the cast iron corn bread and honey butter. Liked the coleslaw. That is all.

I've been wanting to try this place for years! Finally got it and it was such a disappointment. It lacked so much basic bbq flavor. The sides were also really bad.

Wow. So good. No complaints. My friend and I went to this spot after the Rose Bowl Flea Market; it was the best decision ever. We were immediately greeted and taken to our table with no wait. The servers were all kind and made sure everything was okay. The ambiance was amazing , a modern take on an old school BBQ spot type of vibe. All of this led up to an amazing meal. I tried the Pulled Pork Nachos and got the Ribs + 2 Meat Combo. The Pulled Pork Nachos were so good. Great blend of flavors and the pulled pork itself held its own loudly amongst all the other ingredients. The Ribs + 2 Meat Combo was amazing; Ribs , Fried chicken , Smoked sausage , and two sides? Yes all the time. The flavors were great and they have other sauces available at the table! Overall , loved this place so much. Will be coming back!

This place is famous for BBQ and yes their bbq is really good. It is kinda country style decor. It is one of LA oldest bbq restaurants. The rib was so juicy and meat came off the bone easily. The brisket is also really good. TBH... this is comparable to Texas for bbq. And not just the BBQ that tastes good also the fried chicken... Actually my first time here was a long time ago and I was craving for a good fried chicken and our friend recommended this place . That is why we found out that their specialty is BBQ. So they have really excellent fried chicken as well. Side dishes were yummy too . We love macaroni & cheese, mash potato and collard green. The corn bread is famous and it comes in a cast iron skillet. Service is friendly. Spacious but feels homey or almost cramped depending on where you sit, because it is crowded all the time . You have to wait for a while but it is worth to wait. Maybe come early or off hours. Valet parking and some street parking

There's a reason why we keep coming back to Gus's for big occasions. The food. is. consistently. good. Every time we have the baby back ribs again we are reminded that nothing can beat this. The meat is cooked perfectly and despite being solid enough to cleanly cut between the bones, the meat falls off the ribs with the jab and pull of a fork (or teeth). The sides are very tasty, gravy and sauces is unlimited refill. Birthdays means free ice cream! :) Their new menu features dishes like cajun popcorn shrimp (tried and its amazing. Do refer to my photo for the portions) and Brussel sprouts which im excited to try next time. Thank you to our waiter who remembers us since we keep coming back ! The restaurant is always packed, lively, and got a ton of staff being busy serving, cleaning, hosting, and taking care of everyone. Our wait was one hour and was seated at exactly so. We checked in at 45 min and was told "we said an hour, its only been 45" so we promptly sat back down and was called back in 15 min. haha!

Always a very good hearty meal here. South Pasadena's famous Gus's is a establishment. For many, this is the only go-to. You have generations of folks who are patrons because their food is just that good. With a consistent and delicious selection there can be many favorite items that you can enjoy. I am astonished that I haven't jotted down my review on here before. I am decades fan. The BBQ items are usually what I gravitate towards. The ribs are my favorite, but many other items share the same consistent tenderness. There are salads and some seafood items too. Their sides and appetizers can be ridiculously decadent. The Corn Bread is a must. The Brussels Sprouts is like candy. The Mac N Cheese is portioned just right since it is paired with your BBQ. You really can't go wrong with any of their other sides. but I have yet to partake on this. Sandwiches and Burgers are also constructed with much care and delectable. Ice Cream items are, of course, Fosselman's Ice Cream!

I came across this place on door dash and it was well worth it! Their bbq is so good the ribs, brisket, and chicken was very good the meat is cooked perfectly and i am very picky when it comes to meat! Their cornbread is so good very sweet if you like it sweet! The bbq beans were also very good, honestly everything i ordered was really good and worth every dollar spent! They're not too expensive either very affordable. I ordered it so I'm not sure how the inside of the place is but if your looking for some good bbq take out id definitely give this place a call!

Wow I loved the gumbo, except there was a "smoky" element to all the dishes which I don't really like. Next time, if possible, I would prefer to leave the liquid smoke out. The gumbo was very giving with shrimp, sausage, chicken, okra, pepper and fragrant jasmine rice. The bbq ribs were tender and the sauce was spot on. Again, the mashed potatoes had a smokey taste to it which I would ask to sub out next time, if possible. We also got the fried catfish and sweet potato fries which came with some cole slaw. The cole slaw was very refreshing and added a nice contrast to the heaviness of the fried food. We loved the ambiance and the service was bright and friendly.

Our last visit here made such a strong impression that we've mentioned in at least twice a week in the last month since we came. Just like before, the service is excellent and the staff are so incredibly friendly. We couldn't visit without the fried chicken and Mac and cheese, this time trying out the Memphis ribs, collard greens, and cornbread. All were fantastic, but the honey chili jam served with the cornbread was the standout addition. Just one more thing that makes Gus's the ultimate comfort spot.

Came for post Thanksgiving lunch! Available parking in nearby lot but can get full. We had Gus's catering a lot of our events so we wanted to come get some of our favorites dining in. We got the corn bread, Caesar salad, brisket, shrimp and grits, and chicken. All the meats were pretty tender and juicy and well seasoned with their bbq sauce but you can top off with other sauces tableside. We also got sides: potato salad, fries, green beans, and macaroni and cheese. The fries were crispy but a little too seasoned for me but the rest of my family enjoyed it. We closed by sharing a s'mores brownie. Quite rich and a perfect end!

I went here for a date night and the lady forgot to seat us lol but the people working there was really nice I would say that the ribs are amazing, they are by far the best thing to get at Gus. The brisket and pulled pork were both dry and unseasoned tbh If I were to go back I would only order the ribs and avoid the combo meal!

Went in for a birthday dinner around 5ish. I was told the wait time would be 45 min to 1 hr. No more than 20 minutes and our table was ready. WOW! Louis was our server and boy was he attentive. He made a double birthday pretty special with the twin Sundaes. The food was delicious as always. We ordered the blackened salmon salad, two burgers, the rib meal and another smoked meat dinner. We shared two jalapeño corn bread appetizers. Easy street parking or in their parking lot adjacent to the restaurant.

I came in to try a 2016 Imperial Russian Stout I saw they had tapped and ended up trying taster size portions of 6 beers - all very solid. When we walked in, there was a tall, bald male bartender and a blonde female bartender working--neither of whom I've seen here before. We ordered two drinks, but the service from the male bartender was inattentive from the start. At one point, my friend tried to get someone's attention to ask for a lime and wasn't acknowledged. She ended up grabbing a lime herself from the garnish tray--which I understand isn't ideal--but the response we got was completely out of line. The male bartender became immediately hostile and started aggressively cursing at my friend. When I calmly asked the female bartender if this was normal behavior, he inserted himself into the conversation and said, "she put her fucking hand in the fucking jar," in a very confrontational tone. I tried to de-escalate the situation and respectfully explained that there was no reason to speak to us that way, but he continued the hostility and ultimately told us to "get the fuck out." At that point, I paid for our drinks and we left. What made this especially disappointing is that this has never been our experience here before. We've always enjoyed this bar and have had positive interactions with the regular staff. If this had been my first visit, I would not come back. I understand that what my friend did wasn't appropriate, but it absolutely did not justify being yelled at and cursed out. I hope management addresses this, because this kind of behavior is not reflective of the bar I've come to know.

I've been staying at Marriott hotels for well over a decade, including higher-end brands and resorts, and this was honestly the first time I've encountered that. I even asked about it and was told it was because sometimes people "forget they aren't guests at the hotel" when trying to charge meals to rooms. The staff member was polite, but the explanation honestly felt a bit odd and made the interaction feel slightly uncomfortable compared to what I'm used to at Marriott properties. That aside, I'd definitely come back. Great rooftop spot for dinner, drinks, sunset views, and a really solid date night atmosphere in Pasadena.

We came right when they opened so it was very empty, but the bartender mentioned it gets really packed and lively on weekends. If I came back and was able to guess the password I'd stop by when it's more energetic for a different vibe.

She was also just super friendly. The vibes were great. The music was upbeat. The cocktails were only three dollars during happy hour! It was just so lively and fun. The ambiance is actually great. It has a quirky, old-style pub feel with some interesting artwork on the walls. The service, however, moved at a very slow pace. If you're looking to nurse a pint and contemplate life, it's perfect. If you're actually hungry, you might start eyeing the table decor. We sat down for an early dinner and the food was a mixed bag. Ordered Apps. Popcorn chicken and onion rings. They were what was expected as far as flavor. The Shepherd's Pie was a little devoid of seasoning. The House Burger was okay. It won't offend you, but it certainly won't make you write home about it. The Short Rib was the almost the lone survivor and hero of the evening but there was a tragic error. Serving warm flavorful meat on cold, old risotto is a bold move...and not in a good way. At least the price was right (shoutout to the BOGO passport). It's a neat little spot to grab a drink and soak in the atmosphere, and watch some sports on their TVs. As far as dinner goes, it's a one-and-done adventure for us.

I've heard some good things about this place and from other fellow yelpers friends, it must be…read moreworth it. Had a dinner reservation with some girlfriends celebrating two of their birthdays. The restaurant itself isn't too big but it does a pack a nice punch. Cute patio out front that takes some of the sidewalks and streets. Plenty of heat lamps which helped with the chilly nights. We got seated at one of the tables on the patios which was nice. Didn't really utilize inside area except for the restroom which it's quite cute in there. The rooms were pretty well decorated and executed. Nice bar area too. Like mentioned, we got seated on the patio and the heat lamps were great. Down to the menus, it's quite limited on dishes. Seemed like there were more shared plates versus the entrees. Drinks, it was fairly decent with their cocktails and wine. Service at the beginning was great. The staff were amazing and very friendly. We didn't order right away as we were still waiting for the last one to show. But did start off with some drinks. It didn't take that long for the first round which was nice. Food wise, the shared plate was a mixture of everything. Some of the olives, which is exactly what it is. The Belgian fries, nice thick cut fries with shredded pecorino cheese and a nice aioli sauce. We ended up getting a second order of it. The albacore tuna crudo was a hit which was really tasty. Chili ginger relish, mint and shallot, can't go wrong with that. Lastly the meatballs, tasty and very great for sharing. Entrees, the pan seared sea bass which I loved. Portion is pretty tiny which also seemed like they were a shared plate. Almost tapas styled. Nice chimichurri sauce and a side salad. The chicken Milanese also with a side salad of arugula. Simple dish but quite tasty. One of the salads that was somewhat hyped up by the waitress but it was just a salad. Decent but nothing major to rave about...lol... also the confit oyster mushrooms was major hit. Something that simple but quite tasty. And lastly the pan con tomate, rustic sourdough with tomatoes and burrata. Tasty as well. Overall the meal was good. From there, the second round of drinks did take a long time to arrive and with then plates that we shared, trying to get someone to clear the plates was another thing. Took a long for someone to clear the table before more items came. Even when the entrees came, all the empty starter plates were still there. And if someone did clear the plates, some was still left on the table. Finishing off the night, we did have the dessert which we tried all three. As it was two of our girlfriends birthday, they brought out a little bubbly for us to celebrate with the dessert. That was quite sweet and nice. Honestly opinion with the dessert, they were just ok. Nothing major to rave about. We tried all three on the menu and they were just ok. Overall, the food was great. Service was nice and the staffs were all very friendly. It did take a while for plates to get cleared from the table and second round did take a while, but it was manageable. It was a sweet gesture with the bubbly with the dessert which was greatly appreciated. The place is nice and great for catching up. Menu is limited and portions are quite small. You would have to get a good amount for sharing. Entrees, depending on what you order is small as well. But we enjoyed ourself.

They serve lukewarm water and the a/c was on but was not on ..if u catch my drift. The front hostess was also phenomenal, I had reservation for outdoor seating but since she saw that the sun was like glaring, she asked if I wanted to change to inside. Very obliging and accommodating. Food: 5 stars, surprisingly good, right amount for us. I was full but I can see where other reviewers say portions are small. It's small if u're a heavy eater. But the quality is definitely there. Ambiance: trendy, high energy, casual vibes where u can lounge and have a beer while munching on fries...or u can choose to be poshy and have a glass of wine with a salad and Chilean sea bass. It's flexible to accommodate both as there are different sections. Parking: street metered 1 hour parking. 3 stars, not their fault but 1 hour is simply not enough. It can get super busy and the server can be pulled left and right, so cut them some slack during super busy hours. Will definitely be back. Highly recommended .
