The Syracuse was my favorite of the two since it was cheesy with what tasted like buffalo sauce. The Miss Green pizza was also tasty with artichoke hearts, broccoli, spinach, and pesto cream sauce. A great and tasty way to get your greens in. The gentleman serving me was friendly and it was fairly quick. The place is small and definitely hole in the wall style. There is a place for ordering and the space for seating is separated with a window so you can observe the cooks preparing the pizza ! Service was great because cashier was friendly and efficient. No issues at all. I only want to try a slice so I got the basic pepperoni pizza slice ! It was a little pricey but you can definitely taste the difference. The pizza was thin but it was still crispy. The cheese was melty and the pepperonis were juicy and crunchy. Still one of the best pizza pie restaurants in SG Valley. Been eating here for a decade. I always leave so satisfied with a happy tummy. The pizza choices are hand tossed NYC style or deep dish Sicilian style. They are only use the tastiest fresh ingredients. All pies are served crispy hot and soft inside. My favorite every time go to is great grandma pizza and if I must go lighter that would be grandma pizza which is a Margherita pizza but feels so satisfying every time. I always order the garlic knots with delish dipping red sauce. I should actually try other items like wings, subs, calzones, salad and desserts. They are definitely one the local city go to places. The ones I took home got a little soggy toward the front, but the flavor was still on point. The slices are around $4 each which isn't bad, and they're a decent size with a thin crust. Pro tip: parking is a little hard to find, but is there in back. Place is much larger than appears from the front. Took us a while to figure parking out. Wish there was a sign up front or something for new comers like us. Now for the pizza. I would describe their pizza as being good to very good. A few in LA a little better IMO so going with four stars. Crust was nice and crispy, NY style, but the primo lacked a bit of sauce for me. Preferred the Notorious SMG. GF got Mr white and I think the Florentine and agree the red sauced pizzas were a little better. Service was really nice and friendly and pretty quick considering they do reheat the slices for you after you order. Prices were reasonable as well. Came here for Pi Day to eat a couple slices in celebration, glad I chose this over nearby Blaze Pizza. Quality over quantity, well made pizzas that taste better. It's pricier but it slaps, like the crust is crunchy and the dough isn't greasy at all. I got the Notorious SMG (sausage) and The Grandma (margherita) pizza slices. The margherita was perfectly tomato-ey and classic in flavor, the SMG was slightly spicy and salitier making for a more interesting eat. Not the best at pinpointing decor but the interior is super cute vintage looking, reminds me of bowling alley/mid-century style. Welcoming and appetite stimulating orange color. Parking is street in the front of the shop or in a small lot behind. There are two round tables with umbrellas in the back if you want some additional privacy or to enjoy the nice sunshine. Recently a friend brought a pizza from Tomato Pie to my Super Bowl party. I didn't take a photo because I thought I already reviewed this place. Turns out I haven't. What??? I've purchased slices in the past, and since I haven't written a review I stopped in with my nephew after he passed his driving test. Inside reminded me of a New York style pizzeria. Whole pies are available (NY Style & Sicilian) in addition to a variety of slices, including Gluten free & Vegan. Pasta, salads, wings, subs, calzones, desserts are also available and they even have beer and wine. Quinn took our order and was so nice. Not only was he attentive to us but also the patrons in the dining area. My nephew ordered a slice of the Hawaiian, and I got a Sicilian cheese. Quinn heated our slices for us. The Sicilian was as good as I remembered. The crust was soft & chewy with a slightly crisp bottom. The sauce had a good flavor, and the herbs sprinkled on the cheese enhanced the flavor. Good amount of variety in the pizzas so it was easy for each of us to order our own slices and pay separately. I had two slices- the Ms Green which has pesto and lots of veggies and the butcher with all the meats ha. Flavors were good, I did find the crust a bit dry though. It was around $9. We've been ordering from Tomato Pie since they opened years ago. We love their pizzas. But today we ordered a large Grandma pizza and something is off. The crust texture tastes like cardboard, the basil is lacking and half the pizza has almost no cheese, And where it has cheese, the cheese tastes hard and chewy. It's not because the pizza got cold cos I've had their pizzas when it got cold and it was still very good. My daughter noticed the pizza looks different today and we picked up a piece and the slice feels very light, probably because there isn't much sauce and cheese on it. We normally would have finished their pizzas including crust in no time, but today we ate a few bites and got rid of the rest. The ambiance is definitely a standout, casual, fun, and welcoming, which made for a nice experience overall. That said, the cheese blend tasted a bit dated, it reminded us of the kind you'd find on a Costco pizza, which was a bit of a letdown and same with the quality of the toppings with nothing memorable. With so many standout pizza spots nearby like Prince Street and Triple Beam, the competition is tough, and this one just didn't leave a lasting impression for us. We ordered for take-out a Sicilian deep dish, with half as the classic "Tomato Pie" ($25) consisting of Marinara, Romano, and Olive Oil, and half "Utica", a spicy Pepperoni, Mozzerella, with hot honey and pesto cream drizzle ($36). Each of these came atop a crispy sicilian bread that was perhaps slightly thick for my taste, but rich nonetheless. The Utica was delicious, crisp, surprisingly spicy, and succulent. The simpler Tomato Pie was also excellent, emphasizing an excellent homemade tomato sauce. Both were filling and delicious. The service was friendly and helpful. I ordered takeout over the phone and they were quick to take my order, make recommendations, and give me a realistic waiting time which I could plan around. As we did take-out, I will not comment on the ambiance, but the inside was clean and presented a nice retro vibe. The value is excellent. Our large pizza, including tax, came to around $30. Two hefty Sicilian slices are enough to satisfy most people. At 8 slices, this comes to about $7.50/person, or $3.75 a slice, a great price. Individual slices are for sale as well. Tomato Pie Pizza Joint, while not a game-changer, provides a good pie, great sauce, and an exceptional price. If you're in the South Pas area, give the Tomato a visit! I've driven past this place a few times without stopping and today I decided to order a NY style Primo pie with extra pepperoni and hot honey. The sauce and toppings were spot on. I'm glad I added the hot honey. It was a nice compliment to the jalapenos and chili flakes. The dough is the star though. It's crispy on the bottom and still has chew. Perfect spot for great food and brews before a show at Sid the Cat theater, which is a short walk away. It was our first time there, so Hunter was very accommodating and amenable. I wanted a meatball calzone and he delivered! It was large enough to share and the meatballs were flavorful and the red sauce was piping hot. We ordered 6 total slices: 2 pepperoni, 2 bbq chicken, 1 blanco, 1 very funghi. It took about 15 minutes to warmup the slices, I came by the register to check on my order and it felt like they forgot my order was heating up because the employee who put them in the oven didn't know who put them there. Well this little spot in South Pas may be small, but has a huge heart. Deliciousness served in every way that can be. The food is made to order, as it should be, and once you put that slice in your mouth your tastebuds go haywire.
