I wasn't in the mood to cook so we decided to order out from main moon of South Hadley. It's a place located in the center shops and at the moment it's take out only. I ordered a combo meal of orange chicken with pork fried rice and crab Rangoon's. Flavor was good on all the items but I wish I had the opportunity to dine in house that way the chicken would have been a bit crisper. My parents are in visiting from Florida and you're staying with their friends in Granby Massachusetts. We all decided to get together for dinner and order from here, since our usual Chinese restaurant has since closed in South Hadley. Ordered crab rangoons and wow... best I've had around the western mass area! High recommend if your a Rangoon fan like me. They don't use that super thick wonton they were light and almost like fluffy, sweet inside filling. When I think of rangoons they make them Exaclty how I imagined them. Will be going back to them! To Go Tonight and had the Special House Won Ton Soup. It was pretty good and had lots in it. Small Shrimp, Sliced Pork, Shredded Chicken and 3 Very Large Pork Dumplings. Some fresh vegetables and very hot tasty broth for less than $8. Will return to try other items. Due to COVID-19 it is Take Out Only. NO INDOOR Dining at this time. It is in a fairly safe area near the Women's College and there is plenty of parking here and many other eating establishments to choose from. Great, super friendly. Go for the luncheon specials. If you weave your way around the normal American Chinese take out food, you'll find amazing cooked dishes. Don't expect gourmet meals that you would find on a fancy or classy menu, their style is takeout- but do expect amazing cooking skills and fresh food for what they have. This place is pretty bad. The restaurant isn't aesthetically pleasing (it needs a makeover, asap) and the food is subpar. My friends and I ordered takeout. We were told on the phone that it would take 15 minutes.The food wasn't ready when we arrived (30 minutes later!) and the waitress did nothing to apologize for the situation. Finding food at Mount Holyoke is certainly hard enough, given your extremely limited options. Main Moon really isn't as bad as the other reviews on this site might suggest, though. The interior, for one, isn't in need of redecoration; it's par for the course for any Chinese restaurant in the country. The food isn't half bad either. It's all fairly inexpensive, at about $10 per entree with the exception of the Chef's Special dishes like the General Tso's Chicken. It's your standardized Americanized Chinese food, which I'm perfectly okay with out here in Western Massachusetts. It's certainly preferable to waiting a half hour for a mediocre meal at a higher-priced, fancier restaurant in this Village Commons area. read more

A secret gem in the backside of the Village Commons by Mt Holyoke College. Like most Chinese restaurants, this one offers affordable lunch plates around $8 or so, but we came for dinner around 8:30 pm on friends and family weekend, and prices were more around $10-$12 without soup, egg roll, etc. There were only a few tables with patrons unlike the other establishments in the front side of the commons that were heaving and standing room only. We had a thai green curry with tofu and a dish called dragon and Phoenix which was half shrimp and half fried chicken in a sweet/hot sauce. We also ordered pork fried rice even though some plain steamed rice came with it. Although the thai curry wasn't the same sort of flavors I expected in thai food, it was pleasant enough and the broccoli in it was cooked brilliantly: al dente and just right. The other dish was a great compromise in flavors, with massive shrimp and a very tasty hot and sour sauce. read more

Nothing amazing, but not bad either. Scallion pancakes were crisp, chicken sticks tender with a honey-soy glaze, veggie dumplings were mostly cabbage and the wrappers too thick. Shrimp in chili sauce was a bit too sweet, but the shrimp were fresh tasting, and not over cooked. Server was nice and was very accommodating of special requests. read more

South Hadley has slim pickens' for Great Eats, but Main Moon is top for me for lunch. One Dish in particular, House Mei Fun with Curry Sauce! This is a noodle dish that is unique in the area -- delish! Good basics; Great lunch values. Nothing fancy, but good eats when u need it. read more

Amazing food and great service at a low cost. Everyone who works there is super nice and friendly and I've enjoyed everything I've eaten there. The shumai is delicious, as is the wonton soup (and everything else on the menu!) I would highly recommend this to anyone looking for a place to eat, especially for those touring Mount Holyoke! Maybe it's because I'm used to big-city dining, but I thought this place was terrible! I doubt this place would still be open if it was not within walking distance of Mt. Holyoke College... Go to Ichiban, a Chinese/Japanese place that is a short 15 minute drive from the village common in South Hadley. It is much, MUCH better than Main Moon.
