Ordered Yang Chow fried rice and it was busting out the seams. Decent version, not Chinatown quality, but great for Bayonne standards. Even though they are extremely pricey in some on some usually cheap items ($4 for small wonton soup vs $2-2.50 in Jersey City/NYC lol), the food is pretty good here. Like I don't feel like throwing it all in the trash. Most of their items are $1-2 more than the other spots in Jersey City as I've collected menus to compare. I've been in this area my entire life and we all know it's Chinatown, or Kellogg, or bust, but I live near city line and this place had been recommended a lot by neighbors. I'm happy to say that I have only disliked the wonton soup and I've given it a few tries. The mains I've had were good, moo goo gai pan is yum, like Wo-Hop in Chinatown yum, and their fried rice doesn't have that weird sweet taste. I usually stick to low sugar type sauces but have had sweet n sour and spare rib tip there as well. They have lunch specials 7 days a week which is nice for weekends when we are doing chores. as a resident in the Bayonne area for nearly 9 years, I have fed golden city to my children and I on my busy days while working long hours. never have I ever tasted the most salty, disgusting chicken and broccoli with garlic sauce. mind you I have them a second chance as they ruined my pork fried rice and chicken wing meal by adding peas and carrots to the rice. Keep in mind I mentioned the other lady not being there and they claimed she was in china. they lying because the receipts are not nearly what golden city has ever served to me and the family in the past. beware that they are serving you under the false perception that it is the same cooks and folks running the place. meanwhile they can't cook and I would advice you never to eat here unless you want to grow sick with hypertension or lord knows what else. who puts peace and carrots in pork fried rice?? I enjoy trying out different Chinese food places. I recently tried Golden City and it was very good. I ordered some of my favorites, including the general tso chicken, beef lo mein, and egg rolls. Obviously some white rice too, as you cant eat Chinese food without some rice. My favorite was the general tso chicken. It was cooked perfectly, and seasoned well. Their sauce they used on it makes it taste great. It was delicious. Next up was the beef lo mein. The lo mein noodles itself were very good. The beef was just average. And lastely, the egg roll was a nice way to finish my meal. Overall, I really enjoyed this Chinese food establishment. They have some great tasting food and I would come back to order again and try other items out. read more

This is the only place I would order Chinese food from in Bayonne. Their meals are very well made and full of flavor, unlike most other Chinese take out dumps these days. It is not that oily inedible crap that so many places make now. By today's standards, their food is really well made. Roast pork used in various dishes is actually still delicious classic roast pork and not that "pigs feet" crap that so many places use now. Their steamed veggie dumplings are unique and delicious. This place has the best Chinese take out in Bayonne! These days most of the Chinese "open kitchen" take out places have completely gone to hell serving food that is so low quality that it is basically inedible. Golden City is the complete opposite of that. The food here is like rolling back the clock to the 1980s-1990s when most of these places still served delicious, well made reliable food. The roast pork with broccoli is really well made using real roast pork and not that tough leather meat and the chicken lo mein is just about perfect and delicious made with exceptionally seasoned sauce! The fried (steamed version also available if you ask) Szechuan wontons in garlic sauce are truly flavorful with a nice amount of spice /heat. You can easily taste the quality difference here with just about everything you would order. I do wish they served brown rice though. Delivery has been fast and friendly also. This is basically the only place to order Chinese food in Bayonne. read more

Truck driver review: I ordered at 4:00 pm and received my food in 20 minute, so that was great! I was loading at the BMW yard in jersey city. They are familiar with the yard. Since then, we've been ordering chinese food from this place and I totally agree with my aunt how delicious their food are compare to other places. It always comes hot and fresh, and flavor are fantastic! I can not remember a dish we ordered here that we didn't like. Standard fare Chinese take out. They get the 5 stars from me for always delivering super fast and with a smile. They seem to be eager to please and get to know people in the neighborhood.
