8pm on a Sunday night, 12 of my family members stopped in at Golden corral for a late night celebratory meal after the championship game. We knew that the restaurant closed at 9 PM, but the cashier and the staff, including Carrie welcomed to my family, and the large family behind us was in let's open arms. The kitchen staff continuously brought out fresh food, and I even heard the manager Jay tell the carving chef to get fresh steak on the buffet, because two large families just come in. We were there a little over an hour and the kitchen staff continuously restocked the buffet bar and the dessert bar with fresh, hot food. Originally we concerned that we would get dry food that had been sitting there food because it was so close to closing time, but I'm delighted to say Jay and his team were phenomenal, even at the 11th hour. So glad that a friend brought me back after 5 years! It has been remodeled, which was great, as I wasn't planning on returning, after my first trip there. On two different trips, two friends and I tried a variety of foods from the hot, cold and dessert buffets. We had a nice waitress on one visit who checked on us often. She earned her generous tip. I liked: the lima beans, the crab salad, cold beets, the baked fish over rice (my favorite), the pork spareribs, baked sweet potato souffle, escalloped potatoes, and fresh fruit. For dessert we tried the cheesecake- a bit dry; banana pudding-delicious, cotton candy-I'm a kid again at the Fair; carrot cake- a bit too dry for me, and fudge brownies-YUM. At the time we went, everything looked fresh, just put out, so we really could have overeaten on what we didn't try - Ham on the bone, beef stew, mashed potatoes and gravy, baked white and sweet potatoes with all the fixings, a variety of salad makings, spaghetti, pasta alfredo, baked fish, shrimp of several prepared varieties, chicken in several dishes, beans, cabbage, etc. etc. We arrived in time for the Early Bird special ($10.99 I believe) to save $3.00 per person and food fresh - early for the lunch time menu - the place was filled by the time we were partway through our meal. Hostess that took our order was friendly and helpful. We asked about Senior meals, and she gave us the Early Bird special which was even cheaper! Booth seating was comfortable. We tried the tables with wood chairs, but they were too uncomfortable. Seating arrangements were decent, not overly crowded. Good lighting, we could see to eat our food! We always check our plates and silverware for cleanness - was good. Location was convenient to a shopping mall and other stores, Getting on and off I-85. Not a lot of handicap parking but adequate for days and times we went. This is a place that you definitely want to eat in and not do take out. More value for your money. read more

The lady who cleared our plates and made sure our drinks were filled did an awesome job. The food was delicious.

Very disappointing. Food was overcooked and dry. Ran out of chicken and took 20 minutes to put some more out, same with pizza. Instead of having multiple pizzas they had one half pepperoni and the other half cheese. There isn't a lot of space between seats everything is tight. Buffet was very nasty and the guy cooking the steaks was extremely rude! We asked for a Med-rare steak, and he had no clue as to what we were asking for. I had to show him a picture on the buffet. He pulled a raw steak that was not red but brown! First sign of spoiled meat. I thought we'd try it. I had to tell him to take it off the grill because I knew it was ready. It was well done again. I cut it into it, and it was very tough, and it had a rotten smell to it, so we did not eat it. We had to ask for fresh fried chicken (breast) FIVE times and never got any. There were many empty pans on the buffet the entire time we were there. The salad and desert bar were disgustingly filthy. Ice cream all over the server and floor. The dining room floor was filthy. The staff were letting little children play with food, putting items on their plates and then putting them back on the buffet, coughing and sneezing on the food, licking their hands and getting more food, and the worst of all... They guy that didn't know how to cook a steak, I watched him spray a sanitizer that was clearly marked right onto a dirty pan while the mist went all over the food in the buffet! I was so disappointed with my delivery order I love their fried chicken at Golden Corral but this time when I order the chicken fun box and the fish dinner it was horrible the chicken overcooked hard dried out the fish was three little pieces that looked like scraps that fall off other pieces of fish they must have felt bad so they threw in three hard pieces of shrimp and fry's which I didn't ask for I have never .normally golden corral has the best food ever but this time it was so disappointing read more

SEE MY UPDATED POST FOR VISIT DATE 1/25/2020 AT THE END Only for my kids. Lol I don't know why kids like going to buffets some much. The food is mostly cold and even the right food temperature. Tho' the variety is pretty large.. I'm not a fan places like this. I like my food fresh lol. My waiter was nice enough to let me know when It was fresh food coming out that I was looking for. Because I don't meat I was unable to eat the greens because they ALL HAD MEAT IN THEM. I could only eat the cabbage and salad. The salad lettuce had a brown color to it... so cabbage it was. They have a very good sweet potatoes soufflé, fried okra (when is fresh) and fried fish (when is fresh) thbasically all I had. UPDATED POST: 1/25/2020 MY O MY have they REALLY DID A GREAT JOB REMODELING THIS PLACE!! It's WAY MUCH CLEANER THE FOOD (well on my visit) is good, hot and fresh!! I can not believe it. When my son wanted to go here I was like "Do we really", LOL. But I would say if they got this up ..I would most definitely would go back, of course it would be my kids pick not mine. I was pleasantly surprised with our recent visit. Mass produced buffet food is not always top notch but I really enjoyed the food. The "awesome pot roast" lived up to its name and the fried chicken was crispy and moist. The desserts were not the best (the ice cream machine was not working properly) and the chocolate cupcakes were very dry. The server visited our table often to refill our drinks. What more can be said about such a favored chain. Golden Corral is the industry leader in many areas and in my opinion, and the industry standard for care and concern of veterans Nationwide. Their groundbreaking feeding of veterans on Veterans Day has shamed the many of the rest of the restaurant industry into following their suit, at least showing some honor and respect to veterans for their sacrifices. First things first service was ok never got refill on my drink but that's fine because my boyfriend had drinks and he was ok so it didn't matter to me, food was decent nothing special. It's pretty much over priced but we expected that since we have been to one of these before. We thought we get some food here cause we just came from the discount tire place across the street but absolutely never stepping foot into a Golden Corral again. Me and my boyfriend come home feeling like shit, I thought it's just cause we ate to much but no. my boyfriend got ill he's throwing up and much more. and I'm extremely pissed cause I can't do anything about it and have to just watch him throw up!!!! My kids love and adore this place - it's usually their top request due to their love of the mac & cheese and the mashed potates. Oh and the ice cream bar. I like the variety of foods offered and they have the BEST fried chicken around! It's so juicy and tender, with the skin crispy and delicious. The servers are generally really nice. Saw the reviews tell me the AC didn't work a couple months ago. Walk in there to see about 10 small fans scattered around the dining room floor to make the whole place cool felt like a freaking sauna in there I went to go get some food no flavor someone does not know how to even use slat and pepper the most disgraceful crumbly Cupcake to ever exist with dirty dishes that had still spots of old food from past customers do not recommend. read more

I was dreading a public meeting at this place becuz my last meal at Golden Corral was a bummer, and pricey too. But I arrived at 10:30 a.m. with all the food out and it was a beautiful sight of fresh fruits and steam tables. The service was super. My glass was never dry. There was the usual fare, but the desserts were unusual and best of all included some very small calorie items, like a single piece of candy or one single marshmallow to dip in the chocolate which is important for dieters who allow themselves a tiny bit of carbs each day. These guys seem to be more focused on their personal work rather than their customers. Food that should be kept up is ignored while they change out pans and other shift tasks. This is an older location of Golden Corral that has tried to convert to the newest Golden Corral concept. The main problem is that they didn't remodel the business to the new and easier customer flow that the newest concept offers. This location has new signage over the older food stations (salad, desserts, main items) and attempted to offer the new asian/italian/hispanic/seafood/etc foods without having the space for it. This results in a very limited food selection as compared to a newer Golden Corral/ The employee carving at the grill area that also cuts the ham or other meat offerings for the customers was very polite, as was my server. read more

Bitter disappointment, for the price, we could have gotten much better food. I will say, our server "Tonya" was very good. Much of the food on the buffet looked as if it had been there for many days (I'm not exaggerating). There were devil eggs with yellow crust on top. They had marshmallows and strawberry's skewered for the chocolate fountain but didn't have the fountain going, they did have some chocolate you could dip in. I grabbed one of the marshmallows and it crunched when I took a bite, I thought this must be what it's like to eat styrofoam. The guy on the grill had about 6-8 people backed up, I would have been about number 5 in line but he wasn't even going to look my way or inquire as to what I needed until he got the group in front of me handled....I'm guessing they wanted triple charred, extra well done meat....I wanted medium rare steak and some ribs, which were ready to be put on my plate. haven't been there in a while, & won't be in a hurry to go again. me & 2 others went on sat. night. got there about 7:30 [ close at 9 ] & got food off the bar, went back later to get more of the same-wasn't there! replaced w/ things i didn't want. after meal, went to dessert bar & most of the plates were either empty or "crumbs". a man that was there asked the girl behine the counter about a cake [ you could see it on a rack ] she said we have to save it for tomorrow! what about us here now! we paid for food just like they will! so then went to get ice cream...out of order! Golden Corral is a traditional After Church go-to place. Not sure why, though. I guess church folk love the concept of "All You Can Eat," especially when it's only $10 for "adults" and $7 for "seniors." Shrugs. It's pretty close to "home-cooked food," once you've shaken off the fact that you don't actually know who cooked it. The mac & cheese makes me siiiiiing!! Sooo creamy and soft, pleasing babies and the elderly just as much as those of us with teeth. The beef stew was pleasant; the beef was tender and well-marinated, but the vegetables somehow lacked flavor. The potato salad was meh (my mom's is way better), as were the green beans. The rolls, however, are the tastiest foodstuff on the planet. No lie. Seriously, if I could come here and get a whole plate of hot rolls without stares, I so would. For the lazy amongst us (myself included), there's a takeaway buffet option. All you can eat that can fit in a takeaway box for 5 bucks a pound. Solid deal. read more
