So I actually get to GC's about every 2-3 weeks . Sometimes I just don't know what I want. OR I DEFINITELY want pot roast but I don't wanna make it at home and have it for the next 5-6 days or have to freeze parts of it, etc. or I wanna eat fried chicken until I can't hold any more! LOL! Or I'm craving fried white fish. And popcorn shrimp. Or just veggies or soups and salad(s). I can service all of those at Golden Corral. Now true, they do have some bad days once in a while. They fall behind on refilling items. Or put out food before it's completely ready because people are complaining about "when are you going to have more 'fill in the blank'". You can't rush food, it's done when it done. I always love their pot roast with new potatoes and onions and celery and carrots. I used to order the whole pot roast and veggies family meal from the northeast location during the pandemic. But today, here, it was not good. The pan was dried up. It only had red new potatoes. When a gentleman brought out some "meat" it didn't even resemble the roast they normally serve, it was 3 small pieces that looked like steak? And it had no Au jus or braising liquid or anything. And it was tough. The pot roast is never tough, it always falls apart but I think they were rushing it, I had been there for 30 mins. And they had been out of it that whole time. The place was pretty clean and my waitperson, Karla, was super attentive to me and seemed to always have a broom and dustpan in her hands around the buffet lines. I appreciated how well she was working to keep the floors clean. She was also carrying stacks of clean plates and trays full of dirty dishes to the back. These people work hard and fast. I think they are short handed as it says they are hiring on a few signs around this location. I had several good things to eat this day, Sans the Pot roast. I was really here for the cornmeal breaded fried white fish. I believe it's Swai, very similar to catfish but a third the price. It's always good. The freshly grilled pork chops were good too if you get one that's not too over done. The grill guy said they have to cook it that long. The fried chicken and popcorn shrimp were great. I also had some great veggies today: Brussels Sprouts, corn, fried okra, broccoli and cauliflower covered in cheese. And green beans and some white rice with brown gravy. There are tons of desserts here, even sugar free puddings, but I'm always good with a few fresh baked cookies. Yea it costs about $14 plus another $3.50 Or so for a tea or drink for $17.50 before. Tax and at first you think there is no way you can eat enough to justify that cost but then if you go to any other sit down restaurant and order one entree with the 2 sides you might get and a tea you're gonna pay that some price Or so and not get to go get seconds at all. So it really is a deal. And they do keep Bringing out fresh food. Even if you have to bug them about it for a certain item being out! And they have a rewards program now where you can earn points to get up to $10 off of a future purchase. Thats almost like half price! This is my favorite GC location in El Paso. read more

Well, there's not much I can say about the place since I've been coming here for a very long time and I love it, however, until today. Exceptionally today was mind blowing to my Mother and I both, which in fact changed my whole perspective about it's cleanliness and overall establishment .As a very young girl I remember coming here after my games and recitals with my whole family, however this morning as usual my Mother and I went to go grab some lunch. We saw the unexpected and most disturbing thing any food place can experience. We had a full grown cockroach on our table, it was not a baby or small at all, which tells me from my knowledge that this infestation has been here long enough to incubate and grow from an egg to a full grown cockroach, and if you know, where there is one there is many. Of course I had the manager come over to see it for themselves and they went ahead and offered a refund, however that fear and uneasiness of going back at the moment is at its highest. Not to mention that there was a broom and dustpan right next to our table which is not very professional coming from their maintenance department or staff. I wanted to share my experience not to defamate the place but for awareness rather instead, and proper protocol. I hope that this doesn't happy to noone in the future and that the Manager Ron Ramirez does according to our conversation, this is unacceptable. read more

Yes I am giving this spot four stars. The quality of the food is wonderful and the variety can't be beat. This was my pick for my birthday luncheon with my friends so everyone could eat what ever they wanted and we did not have to wait to have someone take our order and serve- you just get up and help yourself to as much as you want. Kids love the chocolate fountain to dip skewered marshmallows and fruit. Steaks, chicken, Asian, Mexican, hamburger sliders, pork, sometimes turkey and all the sides- plus a large dessert bar. I hadn't been here in a while, until this past week. I'm kind of sad because I think the quality of the food dropped a lot. Although the options are varied and they have different food items, the flavor doesn't comes up. The only thing I really enjoyed was the fried chicken other than that everything was kind of OK, my brother took a cup of fresh shrimps and as he was cleaning them to eat them I got this very strong smell and then he did too, I told him he shouldn't eat them because I wasn't planning to go to the ER later that day. The desserts were ok, but I just think it's not a good option. I don't really like buffets a lot, but this experience was really not a pleasant one. read more

I said no I don't. She tells me that he is Kevin's son. I don't know Kevin. She says Kevin is the owner. I don't care I paid great money to enjoy and have a good time without a person having issues and running all over and then jumping up and down exposing his buttocks. Then he kisses the girl and is excited by it. I mean wow! Place of business should not ignore this happening and play it off because they are scared of the owner. Look on the Golden Corral website for senior early bird special. It stated Monday thru Friday, from 2pm to 4pm. Arrived at the GOLDEN CORRAL IN EL PASO, TEXAS at 3pm and the girl at the register stated that it was only from 1pm to 3pm. Spoke with the manager and he stated that he couldn't override the system or acknowledge the promotion. He stated that since each restaurant is a franchise he couldn't change the rules. Very disappointed that he would represent Golden Corral. Will not go back to this establishment and will repost and blast on social media. read more

As some of you already know, I'm not exactly the biggest fan of buffets. I think it derives from the barrage of them I'd end up attending at work functions and also during a large portion of my childhood. Oh...and always whenever I was forced to visit the in-laws. Of course...now that I have become a REAL boy, I no longer visit them. But...I digress. The only time you'll ever see me in a place like GC is for their breakfast buffet, which is always available from Friday thru Sunday morning. And I have to admit...it's one of those simple pleasures in life you just keep coming back to. Whenever I go, I always get the same thing; two fresh eggs over easy with hash browns and corned beef hash. All of which tastes pretty amazing, considering it's a buffet. Hell, even their scrambled eggs (which very obviously come out of a bag, but why split hairs at this point?) taste amazing with a little salt and pepper. Like I said...sometimes it's the simple pleasures in life. No one comes to GC in search of a gourmet meal. Plus, this place hits the nail on the head with the basics. The dining area is clean enough and fairly easy to navigate through. The restrooms are clean and even have that over-sized plastic pull handle on the door if you don't wanna catch germs opening the door with the regular handle (bonus). My main complaint would be the service...which is hit or miss most of the time. The only thing these servers have to do is basically serve drinks and bus tables at the very end. In other words, we really don't see or hear from them nearly as often as one would at a regular sit down restaurant. So there isn't a whole lot for them to do. Which is why I find it mind boggling when I have to wait almost a half hour for a refill on my coffee. If you're going to leave a tip, make sure you bring some cash. One thing I always found odd is the fact that after you pay for your meal up front, your ticket is already closed before you've sat down and had your first plate. In a way, that immediately classifies this place as a fast food joint, if not short order. Although I understand that classifying them as the latter is more accurate. In conclusion, I would only ever recommend a buffet such as this for breakfast. I'm not much of a fan for going to a buffet for dinner, unless it's with the entire family and even then...only if I'm attending a place like Grand China (which just so happens to be right next door). Years back, we used to go to GC for their grilled steaks. A decade later when I finally developed a seasoned palate, I realized that real steak doesn't taste like or come from a short order buffet. What a rude Manager! Our club ordered a Turkey dinner for a poor family from the Golden Corral at Lee Trevino in El Paso, TX. The family contacted me after not having a way to pick it up. I called to pick it up yesterday and was not able to make it. I went there today and got reamed! Very insulting woman! Decided to not hit up our usual breakfast spot and instead try out GC. I hadn't been here for breakfast since i was a kid. I remember liking it here as a kid, but then again i don't ever remember actually eating anything while i was here other than fruit and ice cream. Place seemed moderately packed, I assume peeps get here really early and 10am is already a slowdown time for breakfast (they start charging lunch prices at 11). Hardly any line and the lady was nice when asking us what to drink. One thing I'm finding a bit prevalent recently is the amount of Spanish used in restaurants by the people working there. I never noticed since i speak it, so when they talk to me in Spanish i just automatically switch over and don't bother to notice. This might be annoying for some peeps but fortunately Im not one of them. Still its something that should be addressed, we are rather culturally diverse in El Paso but we shouldn't alienate others ya know. Just a thought. Food was meh? I dunno, it was breakfast food so i can't really expect much. Iron skillet still had a bomb a$$ breakfast compared to this tho, so i guess 3 stars is a good enough rating. The biscuits are super fluffy! But the egg tasted chalky and the sausage patties were literal hockey pucks. Grab your popcorn because this is a long one. My boyfriend and I walked into Golden Corral with expectations similar to our previous experiences with other Golden Corrals; but, gosh darn did they drop the ball tonight. It all started when we walked in. The woman that was serving us drinks seemed to be new and didn't speak much English, which isn't her fault, but there was no one there to help her. When we got to the point of sales system, the same woman didn't know how to swipe our card and proceeded to take the card to the back and ask for help. She did, however, give us our military discount which was a whopping 2.5% of $40 which comes out to a staggering $1. Thanks, Golden Corral for supporting the troops :) I digress. We proceed to find a place to sit, and our options were either not available because the section was closed, or the tables were grossly unsanitary. Next, we get our plates and silverware, which were also grossly unsanitary. At this point we are pretty unsatisfied, but we can't just walk out because we've already paid. Maybe their food won't be that bad. Wrong. Absolutely wrong. Everything was undercooked. Literally everything. The meatloaf was still red on top of hair found in my slice, the rice was hard, the brussels sprouts were rocks, and the red potatoes were hard and tasted like dirt. Additionally, the dinner rolls were undercooked on the bottom and overcooked on the top (how?), and the macaroni and cheese tasted like it came from an elementary school cafeteria. Now the grand finale of the night: the steak. Have you ever heard of a steak sampler? Me neither until we got ours from the grill. Quite literally every corner of each of our steaks were cooked to a different rarity (also how?), not to mention the cuts of steak were the worst I've ever had. Once we've decided that we had enough and decided to leave, we were met by people selling jewelry and blankets in the exit lobby. Safe to say that we will not be returning to this location, nor another Golden Corral for that matter. read more

For the price, it's pretty decent. Some things taste good, some things taste absolutely awful. I picked out things that I didn't like, like the chinese food. But I liked the mac and cheese, the pizza, and the steak wasn't the worse steak I've ever had. As for the service, the server in our area was pretty good about clearing our table, filling our drinks, and keeping the section as clean as possible given the setting. The building is pretty old which makes it look gross. It was pretty crowded, but the poor table layout made it feel even more crowded. I don't like feeling like I'm sitting right next to other people. It's okay. I probably won't come here again. I'm also not really a fan of buffets. read more

FOR STARTERS walking in the drinks were lined up on the counter who know how long the drinks will sit there, the "desert" table is horrible, sloppy and the "fresh fruit" isn't really fresh..it's more like expired. Seating arrangement is horrible you get bumped on the head by a customer walking by or a server. WAY TO crowded for the seating. The actual "food" taste like plastic. The salad table is very disturbing, the salad is soggy, and not fresh. I got sick off of eating a strawberry from the desert table cause it was moldy inside. My husband got sick off the strawberry topping for the ice cream. And since I'm not getting to the ice cream...it should be ice cream not a bowl of milk looking substance. I haven't been to a Golden Corral in years but the quality of the food went down for sure. I use to LOVE going here when I was younger. No seasoning or flavoring in the food whatsoever. Some of my family was going soon but I'll be sure to inform them to not waste their money. First off we were not greeted as we sat down the server ignored us until we needed refills then she finally decided to come around after 30 min and by the end of our lunch our table was full of used plates she never came around to pick them up they just kept pilling up. It's a buffet folks, not fine dining. Within the scope of "buffet restaurant," this Golden Corral is excellent. Plates were clean, our table attendant was friendly and fast, all of the food was hot and the serving trays were full. My only complaint is that the labels above the food were inaccurate about 30% of the time, but it didn't affect our overall experience much. Stopped in for breakfast. Ham was too fatty with very little meat. Asked the server for a cut with meat. Her response was "oh my god." Some employees have the same attitude. Most are nice. Problems in past with too many dirty utensils and management got offended when informed. Pastries are bland. Lot of food on the line is cold or leftover bits.
