Just like fast food restaurants, I do not expect much in quality of the food at a lot of buffets. Today at Golden Corral, I tried the chicken soup and noticed a pancake syrup like smell originating from the soup containers and the chicken soup had a pancake syrup taste to it. I'd mentioned this to the manager and he said he was going to taste the soup. Watching the soup steam table, the manager did not taste the soup nor did the staff remove the chicken soup from the steam table. I am disappointed that management did not take this complaint seriously. And I hope no one gets sick after eating the chicken soup. read more

My husband hadn't been to Golden Corral in years and kept begging me to go. I have never liked this place but we went on a Sunday evening. When I walked in I was really surprised how busy it was so I had high hopes things had changed. Welp... it was the same. The salad bar had limited items and the ranch dressing was very watery. The corn pudding was really thick and chewy. The battered shrimp was okay but I could only eat one fry because they were cold and not crispy at all. Went to get dessert and eew! The blueberry pie (I think that is what it was supposed to be to be) was disgusting. The carrot cake and peanut butter cookie were flavorless. The food here is horrible!! The Golden Corral is another nice restaurant that has been around like 'forever'. I took my mother-in-law to this location because she had been craving visiting the restaurant. The location was nice with a lot of good parking near the entrance. The entrance was especially nice because it catered to individuals with wheelchairs and 'walkers'. The restaurant was very clean and the employees were very friendly and helpful. The place was busy with people enjoying their meal and returning to the food center to see what else to eat. What made it difficult was have so many delicious looking foods to pick from. We enjoyed all of our selections. read more

The Veterans at Breakfast started their gatherings here and we had a large crwod show up, over 40 people easily. This was more than expected. The staff at Golden Corral did a great job hosting us. So going from 20 planned to 40+ would overwhelm anyone. Fortunately we were the main group eating here. Looking forward to spending more time here. As for the food, let me say there was a lot and everything looked so gopd to eat. I controlled myaelf and just settled for eggs and fruit but the desserts were looking good at 8:30 in the morning. I often visit this Golden Corrak Buffet. They get a 3 out if 5 for Dinner and 4 out of 5 for breakfast. My family and I prefer having breakfast at Golden Corral than for any other meal of the day. Golden Corral is not near as busy for breakfast, it is more affordable. One thing we all enjoy regardless the time of the day is their salad bar. Golden Corral salad bar is fresh and consistent. We love their imitation crab salad. During Breakfast Buffet you can get omelette s and I eggs your way. Pancakes, French toast, cinnamon rolls, among all other breakfast essentials. read more

Wish I could give this place no stars!!!! The have a sign telling people that a mask is REQUIRED when the enter the restaurant AND when they go up to the buffet. I've seen on several occasions that there have been customers not wearing a mask and the staff still serve them. I've asked management several times why this is allowed and I'll I get is "I'll take care of it" and nothing happens!!! This has not happened just once, it has happened several times on different days, I've even seen the staff wearing no gloves and the mask under their nose while they are waiting on customers. Atmosphere is determined by the staff and this location has the best staff of any golden corral I have visit. This location is in El Paso Texas. I am from the state of Maryland, where we no longer have golden corral's. My experience at this golden corral is a must share experience. Our server, Alex has a very friendly demeanor and is nonstop when it comes to her customers. After finishing my meal, I inquired from Alex as to whom the manager was. It turns out she was two tables behind us. I politely walked up to her and requested a few moments of her time. She immediately stop what she was doing, and inquired about my situation. This is how it went. I must tell you that I am very upset with your staff. My first issue is that the meatloaf has been moved to a different location. After I found it, I stopped by to get some rolls but after noticing they were not very hot. I asked an employee very tall employee if he could check to see if there was any warm rolls he responded with a smile, and he said absolutely sir I'll be right back. I waited about two minutes tops. And he showed up with three steaming hot buttered rolls on an individual plate. All for me. I thought wow this is just amazing. Never had I experienced any type of customer service as outstanding as this was anywhere. After finishing with my initial meatloaf plate, I proceeded to get up and help myself to a second serving. I was disappointed to find out the original meatloaf have been replaced by a mushroom covered sauce. I've mentioned to the person behind it surveyed counter that it was a shame. The original was gone, but glad I got to have some before it was gone. He asked what that was and I told him I was allergic to mushrooms. I went back to my table and sat there, talking with my father. After a while, I got up to go get some carrot cake and call it an evening. To my surprise another outstanding employee walked up to me with a plate of freshly cooked meatloaf with no mushrooms, and said sorry about the meatloaf with mushrooms we made this one without them just for you. That is what I call real Customer Service. From the moment, my dad and I walked him. Everybody seem so friendly and anxious to serve. Never have I ever been treated with such respect. We go here every Sunday for family time, not until today. My mom asked for coffee and the waitress said we only serve coffee when you have dessert... we came there last week and no one said anything about that. so it's not added to the breakfast buffet, we had coffee with our breakfast last weekend but no one didn't say anything about that until today last time we're going back. read more

One of my wife's friends had told her they like Golden Corral. We didn't even know its venue but decided to try it out after a drive from Carlsbad Caverns to El Paso on our way to Prescott. I wonder how often employees really wash their hands when a restaurant bathroom is in a crisis. This one had a mixture vomit, urine and toilet paper in the stalls. It wasn't new. I informed the manager that I'd be looking into this before leaving and calling the health department if it wasn't addressed. The problem was slowly addressed by the manager leaning on the wall talking to an employee while blocking off the bathroom. An underling with a single mop in hand appeared. No bucket that I saw. Later the mess was invisible to the eye but not at all unnoticeable to the nose. I should have elected to find another restaurant but I like a good buffet and they had ribs and steak. This was no Sizzler, regardless of what you may think of Sizzler. It was no comparison to Hometown Buffet either. The fare was abysmal. Taste ranged from offensive to uninspiring. Only the chicken rose above the sub-par level but just by a little. My wife said her broccoli was so mushy and so salty she couldn't swallow it. At $26 for lunch with one of us only drinking water, I thought there was enough energy in the price to provide a decent meal but unfortunately, I'm afraid that even the energy provided by double that amount wouldn't be enough to inspire anything better. The server who helped us, Shirley, was very exceptionally nice and conscientious toward our needs and wants. I made sure her generous tip made it directly into her hand and told her she was great and that she should find a better place to work. There may be other restaurants in this chain that are better but this one is enough to persuade any other choice in the future. I try to avoid so called "Yelp Whining" but my comment earlier to stay away is unfortunately justified and would be well heeded by others until improvement becomes obvious. I'm usually not a fan of Golden Corral because it's crowded and I don't know what kids stuck their fingers in the mac and cheese. However, the curbside pickup offered very reasonably priced meals and so we decided to try it. The service was quick and we had very limited contact, which is great for the quarantine rules. Our food smelled delicious the whole ride home. Once we got home, the quality and quantity of the food was amazing! Everything was delicious! We got the pot roast meal and the pot roast was falling apart because it was so tender. The salad was fresh and the mashed potatoes and gravy were better than I can get at most places. They were unfortunately out of cake, but the cookies we got instead were crisp and chewy and still warm! I enjoyed every bite and I honestly hope they keep this up even after restaurants reopen because I loved having the quality food without the crowds and kids. read more

My family and I had never been here before the last visit a few months ago. We started with salads at the buffet. We sat down and my husband started eating his salad when he saw something in his salad crawling. I know salad can be dirty and even have a few crawlies but I never expected dirty greens in a buffet where families pay to eat. My and my sons food was great, ...but my husband was sickened a bit. I go here all the time and never have any issues. Only buffet I go to (only this GC location also). Golden Corral commercial advertising the prime rib and shrimp special, prompted our last visit. We were very disappointed with the grill. On Friday August 11, 2017, @ 4:15 p.m. I ask a grill employee. When they would bring the prime rib and butterfly shrimp out? Was informed that special was unavailable. Looked for a manager to no avail. Asked our waiter Ana, to confirm the special and she was able to verify. Ana found out why the special was not on grill and returned to tell us the special would be out shortly. Well we had finished our dinner unfortunately it was not prime rid and butterfly shrimp. We purchase prime rib to go and the butterfly shrimp was not on the grill. In addition, when entering the restaurant, five people push pass me in line. Two of them walked passed the cashier without paying. And the other three (mother and two children), paid for one meal only. Salad bar was ok. The table server was very attentive. Unfortunately, for a buffet, there wasn't a good selection. I mean we went for breakfast on a Sunday and the food was sparse, even though the place wasn't full. And there were a lot of repeats of food, like here's fried potatoes on one side and on the other side, same exact dish. A lot of the stuff was unappealing as well. There were also a lot of empty serving dishes and a lot of congealed, questionable food. No bright colorful food at all. Totally not worth $12 each. I ate salad...for breakfast. Everything else was too weird looking. But once again, our table server( coffee, plate pick up) was very efficient, hence the extra star. That star is for her.
