For a buffet of that sort - it was great! I hadn't been to a Golden Corral in decades. I was surprised, Very nice inside, clean and comfortable. Waitress was great with drinks, clearing plates and providing dishes for the bones. Buffet items all looked good and it was kept well stocked. Fried chicken about as good as any, great biscuits and rolls. Probably worth the lunch price just for the pecan pie, bread pudding, carrot cake and fudge I had. An amazing variety of things I usually try not to eat too much of, but it was a good splurge and amazing value. In its class it's definitely a five star. read more

We returned to Gainesville and have made it a vow to visit our favorite restaurant. Golden Corral holds that distinction as we look back at several years of AYCE dining experience. Tonight was as stellar as previous years. Three of us taking advantage of the senior and weekend pricing. It wouldn't have mattered because we would gladly have tendered the norm. Seating at a table near the grill and hot entrees gave us an easy way to fill our plates. Steak is always a wonderful choice at Golden Corral and especially when the experienced chef knows precisely the grade of doneness of the well seasoned steak. We went back a couple of times filling our plates with steak and chicken and pork and fish. Sides of green beans and okra and Cabbage and hey, those hush puppies are super corny. Yes we also had greens and tomatoes and fresh fruits. But best of all, we loved the dessert display of chocolates and cakes and pies and cookies and soft icecream....for me it is that real southern or is it Georgia's favorite that I just can't enough of..the peach cobbler. Kelley took care of our table and she made sure we had plenty to drink and room for more plates. Another great dining pleasure and good service. Golden Corral will continue to remain one of our "must" places to have a good help yourself meal. read more

The salad bar is the best I've found in an average-priced restaurant in Georgia. The ingredients are fresh with so many toppings and dressings to choose from--along with side salads and fresh fruit. From the steam table I especially like the meatloaf and fried green tomatoes (which are better than any I've tasted in a "southern kitchen" style restaurant). Saving the best for last... dessert! The banana and bread pudding's are delicious. And, my servers have always been friendly and really great. Way above average!! read more

Had an ok time, food was good except the ones that weren't, the fried chicken drumsticks were a bit chewy and a lot more chewier stuff on it this time then any, the broccoli cheddar soup was looking a lot watered down tasted okay though, the steamed broccoli was not steamed too well and it was extremely tough, the staff were extremely kind especially the one I got the place was really busy to but she kept my drink filled and I have a drinking problem so extremely good job on that, the food was decent the price was a little much for what i ate and the quality of the food this time but it's usually better, had an ok time read more

We hadn't been back to Golden Corral since the Pandemic. It's still the same. Prices have gone up a bit but it's decent food, good variety and clean. We always enjoy the deserts. I went to this location on Thanksgiving and even though the line was long (out to the parking lot), it moved quickly. This Golden Corral I have to say is much better than those others that I have been to. Thanksgiving dine-in was $17.99 + $2.99 for a drink. The food was fresh, tasty, and they had everything that I typically like for Thanksgiving: ham, turkey, roast beef, steak, mashed potatoes, cornbread, pasta, stews, soups (brocolli&cheddard, clam chowder, and 2 other soups), pizza, french fries, fried shrimps&fish&chickens, sweet potatoes, beans, etc... and a dessert section with ice cream. Cleanliness was not top-notch but I am not expecting that usually at a buffett. Servers and manager was nice! I will definitely come back! read more

The place is new and it's massive in terms of size. In Vegas I've seen buffets this large but never in GA. Welcome to the new age. Whatever it may lack in ambience (and it does) is made up in square feet of munching space. I paid just a shade over 9 bucks including drink to make the all you can eat scene my very own and the food was for the most part quite good and fresh with a few caveats. The popcorn shrimp were really tiny but still tasty. The pizza was underwhelming but still warm and the rest was rather tasty. With one exception being the hushpuppies. If I had thrown one at my windshield it would have shattered it. The staff was friendly and I was promised a refill for my drink that never showed up but not a real problem as I was almost done at that point. The desserts were very good, I had chocolate pie and a couple of small fudge brownie squares. It's not really the kind of place I would eat once a week in but once a month.. why sure! Friday night, 7:40 pm. Buffet was picked over, cold and not even appealing to the eye, much less palatable. One piece of steak on the grill, grill was off and the cook was nowhere to be found. No one available at the carving station to get a piece of ham or turkey. No hot items were replaced the entire time we were there. Not my usual stop- hall know I'm a weirdo about my food and a bigger weirdo about buffets. However, it was 7pm on Thanksgiving night and we already had Waffle House for breakfast so we ended up here. Vegetarian surprise delight! Cheese pizza, Mac and cheese, delicious fluffy mashed potatoes, steak fries, steamed carrots, steamed peas, sweet potato casserole, the best yeast rolls of my life, salad bar, fruit bar, desserts galore with carrot cake, chocolate cake, pies, ice cream, banana pudding!!! There was so much for me to eat and I was actually impressed with the cleanliness, the food temperature, food flavoring, our server was attentive with refills and clean plates. Downside was all the nasty children running around and tables needing to be cleaned because we got there after a rush. Also, parking lot is pretty shady due to our unhoused neighbors trying to make a buck or setting up their sleeping situation for the night. Only the second time I've been to a Golden Corral. This visit was after a long day of ceremonies celebrating Veteran's Day. Our DAV chapter ran the booth. Place was packed and a continuous line out the door, but they were able to move the line pretty good. Very satisfied with the establishment and the food was very good. Met my son here for breakfast because Longstreet Cafe was closed for 4th of July Holiday still. Kid suggested IHOP and I said no I want a buffet. Big mistake. What I ate was gross. No taste. I made a breakfast bowl with cheese grits, eggs, sausage, bacon, and hash browns. Kiddo got something similar and he said it was flavorless as well. I went back for real food like fruit (ok) and fried chicken (good) and added a cinnamon roll, which was pretty mediocre. How do you mess up a cinnamon roll? The buffet was large with many selections. Lunch salads were also offered. Omelette bar. Desert bar. The brightest spot was the server, Santana, who was chill and nice. My second time to this GC location and I have not been impressed either visit. Even though the staff seems friendly enough they seem to have a hard time keeping the bar stocked with food and the quality/taste just isn't there. My 11 year old son asked for a medium well steak and when he got back to the table he found 95% fat and gristle and what meat on the portion he received was bleeding profusely when he cut into it. I would be nice if those gristly end portions could be trimmed from the steak before cooking and Not served to customers. This visit was on a Wednesday evening 6-19-19 around 6 pm. The restaurant was busy but not anywhere near full. We did not wait in line to pay this visit but we did the first visit which was on a weekend. It may be a while before I go back (if ever), I thought of many tastier places to spend the $55 I spent on my family of four. read more

Updating as I said I 06/14/2019 Friday 630 pm About 3/4 full, so fairly busy. I first ckd the dining room and saw that ALL the steak sce bottles had the caps on them. Good start. I looked at the buffet and saw plenty of fresh salad items and hot items on the other buffet. Looking good. Checked the 3 styles of Ribs and they were all fresh and the gentleman carving was on the spot and knew when to cut a good size rib section. I tried all 3 - hot n' delic ! Pulled Pork was moist and flavorful. Smoked Chicken was very nice looking and not dry at all. Plenty of hot black eyed peas and other legumes. Corn looked very nice as did the turnip greens and onion rings. Nice line at the Steak counter - I looked over the window and could see some very nice Steaks - wish I had the room. Line was not overly long either, it was moving at a nice clip. Catfish was loaded up nicely as was the popcorn shrimp. Deserts: Chocolate fountain was running and people were eager t o get to the strawberries and chocolate. The pies however were scarce - 1 whole pecan but the others were pretty much demolished. I chkd back 2 more times but did not get lucky. I do realize how Georgians do indeed have a affinity for pies and you could probably skeet shoot them across the dining room and still not get em out fast enough so I get it on that. If ya want some ya might have to wait but HEY, it's pie - so it's worth it right!! The misses did manage to get some pie and had a nice cup of coffee w/it. She really enjoyed that. Waitress - "Merkuria" if i'm reading her name right - was very attentive, pleasant and in good spirits. Alisha at the register/counter was also on the job answering questions of customers. I met friends here for a recent early dinner on a Monday night. Talk about a busy spot!! It was bustling at 5 PM and we had to wait a short time for a table even after we paid up front at the cash register. There was vast array of just about every type food imaginable - Asian, Mexican, Italian, seafood or just good burgers! I initially tried to taste lots of things with the plan of going back for larger portions of what I liked! That didn't work, because it was ALL pretty good! There was never any bread available, had to ask for a clean plate twice. The food was dried out, in very short supply, and grossly over cooked. First time waiting on steak, I gave up and decided to go back later. Second time there was still a line so I decided to try again later. Finally, the third time I got steak. It was burnt. If you've ever been to the Golden Corral in Winder Ga. you will be so disappointed by the one in Gainesville! Went in on the weekend for the advertised prime rib and it was awful. All that they had out was the ends and I had to ask 3 different carvers to bring out more. When the finally brought out a new roast the sliced into the middle and it was so done it could have been shoe leather. He sliced a normal size piece...then cut it in half and put the small piece on my plate. There was a line behind me waiting so I just took it and kept my mouth shut. Good thing too since it was probably the worst prime rib I have ever had. It was over cooked by at least an hour. And the side dishes tasted more like hospital food. We love the one in Winder but this one is really bad. read more

We are longtime customers of the Buford, GA location (since it originally opened) so there are many differences we noticed today - several of which left us feeling like we are better off driving to the Buford location instead of to the new Gainesville location. The process to get seating is ridiculous. Seating held up the line to pay for nearly 20 minutes - the line moved NOWHERE. We could look around and see plenty of empty tables but there we stood going nowhere. In Buford, you pay and go find where you want to sit, get your plate, and eat - takes 5 minutes or less usually on a Saturday afternoon. We've come by this location on several occasions but the line was out the door so we didn't go in. Today was our first visit and this is what we encountered and boy was it aggravating. The other items were things like over-fried chicken - it was overdone, overfried, and too hard to eat. There was no butter nor sour cream anywhere around the baked potato/sweet potato bar. The hushpuppies were overdone (but Buford has done the same lately). I love the rolls but the only rolls I saw during our entire visit were attached to my cheeseburger - not good. We spent a minute or so looking for the plates - this is a new location so perhaps the wait staff or staff at the cash register can point out where things are or maybe add signage to help customers learn this location. On the plus side, the desserts were better than Buford, the mashed potatoes were better than Buford, the cheeseburgers were better than Buford (though a regular bun instead of the rolls would be nice). Our waitress, Angelice (or Angelica?) was nice and kept our drinks filled. The banana pudding was superior to Buford's. read more

My wife and I have been big fans of GC for many years while living in Florida and looked forward to our frequent visits to the Fort Walton Beach location. Never once did we have any problems and loved the buffet and superb service. There was not a GC location near our house when we moved to Gainesville GA last year. So we got excited to learn that one was under construction nearby and eagerly waited for its opening. We went there after the store had been opened for a couple of weeks. The new format was a big disappointment to us and we calmly informed the manager (who was very polite) of our displeasure and why we missed the original format. The store was congested and it was difficult for us to maneuver around the customer and service people traffic in the aisles. A couple of friends dining with us were upset too and said they will never come back. We gave it a second try on 7-18-2019 and saw no improvements. The acoustics were bad for our hearing aids and we had to turn them off. To make matters worse, there were two four year old kids constantly screaming and running back and forth in the aisles. We politely asked the mother is she could help us out by controlling them because they were ruining our meal and she dismissed our request by saying "What did you expect?: They are kids !!" We are 83 and 81 year old seniors who paid $33.00 plus tip for two meals and two ice teas which we thought was excessive. Needless to say, we will not be back and will continue to go to other buffets in the area. Sad, very sad. read more
