Barbecue, fast food style. We needed something quick to stick to our road trip itinerary, this place showed no wait on Google, so we stopped for a fast bite. We were the only 2 customers in the restaurant. The food was out quick. Same young lady who took our order brought it to our table. The boneless wings and chicken fingers were good, real chicken, very crispy. Hubs said the ribs and pulled pork were OK. Service was friendly enough, but the 3 employees we saw were leaning on things, standing around with phones in hands, looking bored. The supervisor in me was really peeved by this; I'm not sure if there was a manager on duty, I didn't see any, but the restaurant is overall very dirty, greasy floors, and especially the ladies room, so gross. The food is average, the restaurant ambience is TRUE barbecue, this is cafeteria style eating, Service still asks for a tip, even though no services provided when you carry your own tray to your table, I went once, I will not go back. I have a million fond memories of sharing a meal at Shane's with my family. I'm just not sure what has happened to this place. Years ago we used to come here regularly and LOVED the food, played trivia here weekly, loved the staff staff, overall great experience! Our past two visits have been so bad I'd say they should just go ahead and close the doors. Dried up, cold, strange tenders (fried and grilled). Mac & Cheese that tastes rancid. Green beans that are "okay" but not up to par with what they used to serve. To top it all off, staff that don't give a hoot and/or are overwhelmed and a dirty dining room (even when empty). Don't even ask me about the back hall and restrooms on the past two visits. I want places to succeed and can't stand empty strip malls and storefronts, but sadly it's time for this Shane's to do a total over hall or just close the doors, it's embarrassing. read more

Shane's in Flowery Br has improved tremendously in the past year or so (2023-2024). We now love going there for take-out on a regular basis. We especially love the ribs, pulled pork and mac & cheese. They have special deals fairly often, so that helps with the price and draws us in. The people who work at our local Shane's are always nice to us, and helpful. I wanted to order a medium size peach cobbler as the menu board showed 3 sizes and 3 cups were on display to show size as small, medium or large. Use to enjoy coming here but, it has gone down hill. Took my family for the first time in awhile and I can honestly say I don't think I will be going back. The food quality has sure gone down. The portions have also gone down. Everyone at my table had something wrong with the meal. Chicken sandwich was dry, fries were cold. I ordered a grilled wrap and got fried and it was mostly lettuce and very little chicken in it. Baked beans are usually awesome but this time they were just ok. My first time 10/2 and I was very pleased with my very large cheeseburger w/grilled bun - nice, crispy hot French fries and onion rings. Consider hot food at the same time a concept most restaurants are unfamiliar with so bonus! A friend got the macaroni and cheese w/pulled pork which was tasty and a little spicy. Only issue macaroni was a little over cooked. The food was actually seasoned and tasty. Incredible. Staff was pleasant and helpful. Really like that the waitress opened the carry-out containers to show me the food. So many restaurants get the order wrong. She didn't! I ordered half a chicken, fried okra & potato salad with sweet tea. Best thing on the plate was the okra. The chicken was slimy & mediocre. Potato salad was good but did have a heavy portion of mayonnaise. But that sweet tea... you get a cup & serve your own tea. The tea had that stank flavor from not cleaning the urn well - with hot water & soap. Tea is a Southern person's heart. Having it be lightly rancid in taste set the tone. Not sure I'll be back. Have to give 4 since I've never been lead wrong. usually get the combo ribs/fingers/pork plate with great green beans and fried okra. Used to go here to get some BBQ, a beer, watch a game in the bar but new owners - bar is going away, no liquor license so have to say for this corner of spout springs road, I'm a bit disappointed that if I want to watch a game and toss back a few, its Taco Mac at the Mall and not near the house any more. But as for food, getting mostly to go now and have not been let down. Friendly staff, not real cheap but worth it. Their spicy BBQ sauce is the bomb! Now my staple take out, great food, value, staff! The chicken tenders were nicely fried and were generously portioned. My brother has a sensitive palette so he was happy to be able to add as much bbq sauce as he wanted on the side. Although the traditional wings arrived plain with honey mustard on the side the meat was still flavorful, juicy, and hot. I paid $20 to eat all of 50 calories worth of food. If you're on a strict diet, this place is for you because the portions will be the smallest thing you've ever seen. I ordered the tender salad grilled tossed in lemon pepper and my husband got grilled lemon pepper tenders with fries. I got a box full of lettuce and cheese with what looked to be one single tender chopped up on top. That's it. My husband got his 4 tenders (luckily) and all of literally 10 French fries. We returned last week, and they made good on the offer for a redo on their 4 rib lunch special. This time the ribs were like I remember, tender and fall off the bone. Much more like what I have come to expect from Shane's. Maybe the time before, the ribs were overcooked and dried out, I would suggest someone do a fork test to make sure they are tender and not dried out. Very close to a 5 star rating! I'm going to go ahead and explain why... For one, the wings had grease pooled under them. They should be drained before serving! But not a huge deal to me. Also, the tea was too warm and melted all my ice instantly which watered down their wonderful tea! Sad face. Now that being said, Everything else was WONDERFUL. First of all the service was great. I ordered a chopped pork plate with french fries and baked beans. The baked beans were OK and the french fries were nice and crisp. The pork was disgusting and dry. They drowned it with barbecue sauce thinking that would make it better it did not. I don't know if I'll ever visit This place ever again.
