We had an ok experience out first time (over a year ago) but this time was amazing. Everyone was happy and having a great time (there were quite a few friends there) and the prices were great. The selection was massive and the desserts were so good (trust me, I tried all of them) it's definitely a step up from before. Our server checked back frequently and took all 14 of my plates. We had a large family gathering after my mother's funeral and the restaurant was able to seat us all together. I did notify them a week in advance so they wouldn't be surprised. As soon as we got to check in, my mother was called an "old lady" in front of the cashier by what seemed to be a manager. He was not joking, but tried to laugh it off as soon as I took offense. My party was large and we were just trying to figure out the billing (there was no one behind us). The food was bland... the most bland Golden Corral I've ever tasted. Our table was rarely checked on and the place was very messy. The floors were sticky like a cheap motel and as the host of my family in Gulfport, I will never come back. I don't how long it has been open since the remodel. It is kinda far north on highway 49 in Gulfport but well worth it tho, in my opinion. This is the only location I know of that is on the coast that I know of? But great news, it is finally open for business! It has been closed for renovation for a while. If you are in the mood for American style buffet for the family or casual buffet; this is your restaurant. The staff is very friendly and helpful. I personally love the new layout. You get discouraged when you drive by and seems so busy and not worth it or have any tables. Far from it. Yes, they are super busy and hard to find parking, but if you can find a spot to park; they will hopefully have a table for you. We went on a Sunday morning, heavy traffic time, especially after people were getting out of church or morning errands. They offer many options. They have a decent steak station make fresh for you. Be sure to stand in line and tip your chef if they are making food (omelet, steak, and etc.) if you can? I love the yeast rolls but disappointed tho; that they don't offer honey butter for them anymore. So, I grabbed regular butter from the salad bar. Might try to ask your server if they still offer honey butter? Plenty of food options. Be sure not to over stuff yourself and save room for the great dessert bar. The food is good for the money. If you want a better buffet, look elsewhere. I think it is good for the price! The food tasted fresh and hot. Look good too! They usually have booth seating at most restaurants. However, at this location, they only have tables seating. With that being said, the seats have no padding (hard wood seats) but don't expect to be super comfortable in them but are good to sit in for your stay. They change the drink order tho, usually you order when you pay and get your drinks then. You just tell them your drink order and they bring it to you by your server; instead of getting it at the (2 lines) register. I believe it is free refills on most drinks? They offer free WiFi, just ask for the password. They do military discount for active, reserve, and veterans with valid ID. They also do senior citizen discount. No mask required. I never thought I would consider Golden Corral a 5 star establishment, let's be honest. Today, however, changed my mind about Golden Corral. I'm not sure why I decided to come eat here today, honestly I was never a big fan of the place. When I first walked in I was greeted by the manager and I asked him if he minded if I checked out the buffet to see what they had and how it looked. He obliged politely and said, "you're more than welcome to have a look". I walked in, did a quick run through and decided to give it a chance. It was $12.07 for the lunch buffet with a drink. The food though! I had a piece of fried chicken, sweet potato casserole, lima beans, turnip greens, pulled pork, mac n cheese, a mini burger - not quite a "slider" with sautéed mushrooms and the bourbon chicken over white rice. everything was spot on. the only minor complaint I have is that the bourbon chicken was a little over salted. Other than that I can't remember a time I had such a variety of food that was all cooked so well. My waitress was named Tonya, and she was more than accommodating. She came by several times during my meal to see if I needed anything. I've eaten at this establishment in the past but it's been years and all I can say is wow. Most improved restaurant in the city by far! If you are in the mood for a large variety of food at a more than reasonable price I would recommend this location in Gulfport. I know it's a chain restaurant but the cooks, management and servers at this location are doing it right! Glad I decided to come give it another try. She always has a wonderful smile, demeanor, and takes care of us with the best of customer service. Today, after attending the memorial service for Amber Barnett, my family and I decided to stop by Golden Corral of Hwy 49. We were greeted by the staff, as usual. There was a black girl working the cash register and a white girl working the drinks. I was talking with my family members when I guess we were a little too loud. The black girl (whose name I didn't get) asked me, quite rudely, "Why you gotta be so loud for?" I apologized and tried to play it off by saying, "Aww, baby, I'm old, I'm from the country,and I'm colored. I don't know no better." Several people in line laughed at my joke, but the cashier replied, "I'm colored, too." As I was leaving, I apologized again and said "goodnight" to the staff. The cashier made a rude and dismissive gesture to me in return. I'm not trying to get her fired. I just want her to understand that being rude and disrespectful to your customers is a good way to stop your customers from coming in. If she had just ignored our loud conversation (or politely point out that we were being disruptive to the other dining guests' experience), this would have been the end of it. However, her attitude and dismissive gesture proved to be too much this evening. I believe she should be reprimanded for her actions and reminded that customer service goes a long way. read more

I love going to Golden Corral to eat and this one didn't disappoint.They had a good selection of food from steak to shrimp, the gentleman cooking the steak was willing to cook your piece longer if you ask him to. Everything was kept full. The people who took care of your drinks and taking care of your empty dishes off the table and refilling your drinks were very friendly. So after my mom bugged me to go and eat at Golden Coral, my grandson and I took her to the one close to home. Although you eat as much as you want, you do not get the food yourself, rather they bring you what you want. Now the original sit down was good and food was hot and there was plenty. However every time we requested more of something or something new, it took forever and by the time you got it, you were ready to leave. Our server was friendly and we left a tip, because we kew she was over worked. We did not see many servers. Now for the eye opener. The manager on duty was not actually a manager and just apologized and said he hoped we would bone back again as they were striving to do good. Yet he admitted himself to the servers that were there and how they needed more training and not to be on their cell phones. Lots if old, negative reviews posted that do not reflect the current reality. My wife and I are elderly and she suffers from Alzheimer's so she is unable to cook. I am able to cook but I am too lazy and we can afford to eat out so we normally eat out for our main meal seven days a week. While we have a big variety of restaurants available, Golden Corral is one of our regular places. It offers the variety and quality that we like. We eat early so the restaurant is always clean, all the dishes are fresh and hot. If there is any fault to be found it would be that the vegetable dishes are over cooked. Otherwise we are satisfied with the food and service. Since the virus crisis they have been closed so we miss dining out at all of our favorites. read more

I was in town for business and the grandchildren wanted to eat here. I remember when Golden Coral was being built. I thought it was a decent clean restaurant but sadly it was far from. The appearance is run down with old food on the buffet at opening. General manager sat in his office never checking the buffet line. Saw other manager but I guess he thought the food was ok to serve. The cabbage was sour, I told our waiter but when we left it was still on the bar after he said he would let them know, the dessert bar was a complete WRECK, completely destroyed cake and pudding and peach cobbler that looked like animals got into it and it was just left there and not replaced, icee machine was broken, no vanilla ice cream. Dropped in for dinner the other night and the only words that came to mind was "PACKED!!! Even though this place was filled to the rim with hungry families and the like, we paid and were seated in under ten minutes. Our waitress Suanda was awesome (**** 1/2 stars) she kept are drinks full and our table stocked with hot, fresh from the oven yeast rolls (**** stars). I love their ranch dressing and their clam chowder (**** stars) was full of clams and small cubed potatoes, which is how I prefer it. The grilled steak (*** 1/2 stars) which being a buffet was actually quite good. The turnip greens (*** stars) were good but the black eye peas (** stars) were slightly undercooked and tasted somewhat watery. For my main course I went with the baked chicken (***1/2 stars) which was tender and moist. I just could not get over how many people were here on a Friday night but for the price and selection, if I had kids, I probably would prefer to bring them here then cook on a Friday night!!! read more
