Friendly staff, but disappointing food for breakfast. Kids pay $10 and there is just no way they could ever even eat $5 of food. One had two bowls of cereal and a brownie. The other ate a mini waffle and like five pieces of bacon and a brownie. The potato casserole was under cooked and the juice machine was Semi-broken. read more

Nostalgic to the days of Old Country Buffet (OCB) this place brought back memories. When you arrive you pay right away before entering the dining area to eat. $17.99 all day on the weekends for adults. Age 3 and under are free. There are a variety of options. Salad bar, taco stuff, soups, even steaks being grilled on an open grill in front of you. Overall the food was salty in my opinion. They even had pozole, which was salty but overall flavor was good. The typical mac and cheese that I was expecting at a buffet like this. I have always wondered what Golden Corral would be like now I know. The yeast rolls were good- those reminded me.of Texas Roadhouse rolls. If you are looking for quality food with a lot of variety you will find the variety but not so much the quality overall. There were some items that were decent. I suppose for the price it was okay. They even had an icee machine which was a total hit! read more

To be fair, I decided to pay another visit to this golden corral. They must have new management, because food was very hot and delicious. The staff was very hospitable and welcoming, and I especially thought the salad bar improved 100% since my last review. Fully stocked, and the vegetables and toppings were very fresh. The steak was prepared, perfectly to my liking, and I even complemented the cook. The general appearance of the restaurant was very clean, although the bathrooms could use a little bit more attention. All in all I have to raise my score. read more

Yesterday my family and I enjoyed an excellent meal. I recommend this place for family groups.

The quality has really gone down. We went on Labor Day at 7:30pm. They told us right away they were out of steak and had BBQ ribs, chicken wings and ham left. We decided to go in anyway. The ribs were dry, the chicken wing varieties were all spicy and the ham was very salty. There was no roast chicken, turkey, roast beef, fish or seafood like they used to have. The vegetables and rolls were good. They were running out of desserts and wouldn't bring any more. The ice cream is like ice milk now. The blueberry pie I had was second rate. At about 8:00 pm they started cleaning up, taking everything away while people were still eating in the restaurant! The place closes at 8:30. I felt very rushed, couldn't find what I wanted to eat and what I did eat was mostly not the best. For $18.22 per person, it was a big disappointment. read more

My husband took me out to The golden corral for my birthday, the service was terrible, meatloaf looked like dog food, my husbands fish was cold and mushy , mashed potatoes had no taste . If I could choose zero I would. My husband and I have eaten here two times and we don't eat a lot at once but it's convenient for us when it's late and we are tired and it's across the street from our hotel. We are from Texas and Golden corral in Texas is awesome and the management is extremely amazing..... however the female night manager at this location is a distorted person who did the absolutely most brutal inhumane thing to me I have ever experienced in 56 years of life. The most brutal cold night of my visit to Kenosha Wisconsin I accidentally lock myself out of my hotel while the manager had stepped out to run to the store or something.....I was freezing and in pajama shorts and my keys and phone were inside along with my service dog a 3 pound Yorkie who I never leave alone. I was forced to get to the highway and cross 8 lanes of traffic and enter the Golden corral. My face was so frozen that I sat down under the hand dryer and was crying. A sweet Hispanic employee came in and she couldn't speak English but was so sweet and kind and took me by the hand to the manager lady office. So I began to tell her what happened and asked to please use the telephone to call my hotel. I have eaten here twice and I don't care for the food at all plus I eat about as much as a 3 year old at a time. I'm disabled due to a botched stomach surgery and I am a 56 year old woman and mother and grandmother from Texas. I never complained about the food and I always tipped well. I am a Christian woman. However the female night manager this bitter cold night saw that I was desperate and asking for help and she literally responded to me like a narcissistic DEMON. She said that she would not let me use the telephone to call my hotel......she then proceeded to say that I could not stay there and had to leave. I WAS SHOCKED .....then she said that I needed to call the police because I couldn't stay there and needed to leave. I responded with Mam my phone is locked up in my room and my keys and my service dog.....can I use your phone to call the police please ? ...... YUP she said no and I needed to leave.....So she refused to call the police for me and she refused to let me call the police and she told me I had to leave. She must be a incredible devil of a narcissistic DEMON person who is probably on drugs or who knows what!!!! I was thinking OMG I couldn't believe she denied me the right to call the police in a dire emergency and I was so scared and cold and in a strange state so very far away from home alone.....thanks be to God when I get back to the hotel the sweet manager and his son were back......I reported her actions to corporate and spoke to a man who was also from Fort Hood, Texas ironically. He said he was going to address the issue with her actions immediately and was shocked that a person could be this extremely inhumane and sick. I asked him for a follow up call about the issue but never received a call back. He was very kind .... however I will be addressing this with my attorney and corporate for Golden corral just to ensure that no human being would ever be denied the right to call 911 in a emergency of dire need by this person ever again and put out to freeze alone . It was actually sleeting at the time with wind gusts so hard I couldn't barely walk upright. I'm about 127 pound white Caucasian disabled female. I have never been to a state where it's cold and I don't know anyone here except the hotel management and HE was shocked that she would not allow me to call 911......I do believe that in Texas she would have been arrested for interference with a 911 call and that's a felony. However I'm a Christian woman and I'm not trying to get her in trouble that way. It was just so incredibly inhumane and sick and she told me to call the police but then she denied me the use of the Golden corral phone and refused to call for me. Knowing I had locked myself out accidentally and had no keys or phone and no warm clothes or anything!!!!!! I will never ever delete this complaint from YELP and I will be also adding a blog on Google permanently and contacting Corporate. By the way this is the worst Golden Corral I have ever eaten at and I'm 56 years old and have been a patron of the Golden corral all my life and taken my family and grandchildren to Golden Corral all over Texas and never been disappointed or dealt with bad management in Texas. apparently you can't bring a special needs child in there. We have a kid with special needs who was running but instead of saying something to the parents they were yelling at the child. My daughter went back in to complain that they should have talked to her instead of yelling at him. They won't let her talk and were talking over her i went in to explain won't let me talk. As we were Leaving the other employee started yelling at me and acted like she wanted to hit me so I started yelling back and I asked the manager if her employees do this all the time and what was she going to do about it she told me it was none of my business. They changed the free kids day to Thursday... I found that out when we got there. Grrr. We are big fans of golden corral. We go to them all over the state. Usually the customers are kind of gross... At this one- it was the staff. They started out by asking me if needed change so I could tip the server. Lol. Then when it was time for meat- the guy behind the glass was nowhere to be found... for a long time. Finally we all reached in and grabbed knives and cut our own ham and ribs. Usually this is our spot after being at the outlets the whole day. The food is delicious but the service is better! Our waitress was so nice and loved the fact that mostly everyone there spoke Spanish. The guy cooking the meat was so funny and spot on with how we wanted our meat cooked. We've been coming here for a few years. During this past year, this place seems to have gone downhill. It has a weird smell, the plates and silverwear are often dirty and the quality of food and food preparation has gotten worse. We came in for the brunch. It was breakfast with fried chicken and cold fries. I waited from the time we sat down to the time we left for fresh fries...they never came. The salad bar looked great however, the dressings were low quality and didn't look good at all. I have never liked their dressings so I don't typically care for salads from here. It's too bad, their salad bar looks great. I tried biscuit and gravy, couldn't get my fork through the bottom of the biscuit. I tried watermelon, it wa good. The bacon was so greasy I couldn't get it down. The only consistent thing is the friendliness of the staff. The quality of their service has always varied. This place has lost us as customers. What was once a clean, comfortable place to bring the family has sunk so low that it's not worth our time and money anymore. I can't believe I went to a Golden Corral. I was pleasantly surprised that the quality of the food is better than I expected from a buffet. Way better than OCB. This was my first time here (or any location), so I'm not sure if the menu is rotating or pretty static. However, on a Saturday night they had a ton of fish choices. And not just the OCB choices of fried or baked white fish...no. We're talking Salt and Pepper flounder, Coconut shrimp, a seafood puff pastry dish, tempura pollock (OMG, so good), and jalapeno baked tilapia with some sort of sweet sauce, and others I did not try nor retain to memory. My only complaint, I guess, if it is a complaint, is the chaos and "flow" of the restaurant. First, the front desk/cashiers willingly or unwillingly create an insanely long and angry line. Our party had already paid for us, and were seated, so we sort of whisked past all that madness. I expected a fully packed restaurant with no free tables, but this was not the case. The restaurant was probably only half full. I'm not sure if they were short staffed at the cashier, so they were moving slow or if this is a regular practice. If it is the latter, its sucks. Second, the people are sort of rude...they push past you in line, there are a ton of kids running around unsupervised, in one word: chaos. In their defense, I don't go to a lot of buffets especially during peak hours. I suppose peak dinner time could bring out the inner beast in some people. The wait staff was really on the ball, (they bring you refills, there are no self service beverage stations), and my glass was never empty. Kudos! I liked the food, but found the experience a little overwhelming. I prefer a calmer dining environment. I would return but not at 5:30 PM on a Saturday. read more

This place was disgusting. The dining area was clean but the food handling left my mother and me uneasy and wondering if our stomachs would be upset later. The spinach in the salad bar was wilted, the seafood/crab salad tasted rancid, the cabbage in the coleslaw definitely was bad. Most of the foods looked like they had been sitting there for way too long. Even stirring down of the items didn't improve it. Meatloaf was mushy, pulled pork over and under cooked in different places. Rice was mushy. Even the desserts weren't right. The previous review of this place by Eric V. really pisses the crap out of me. Especially after that guy gave a Taco Bell 5 stars when it is the same as any damned Taco Bell. This place is one hell of a lot better than OCB and it is the best thing I could compare it to. The concept is the same as OCB, but done way better. Some of the food here is not that great (like the mashd potatoes and macaroni), but it is really fresh. The desert table has a crazy amount of different cakes and a lot of stuff to put on your ice cream (even candy corn and gummy bears). The real reason why I come here though: char-grilled meat. No, not like Burger King where they probably just put some grill lines on the burger with a Sharpie pen, but really charred. The day I moved to Kenosha, I unknowingly walked in at 3:30 and got the lunch price around $7 with a drink. They were grilling burgers that were awesome. When 4pm hit, they started grilling steaks that tasted Great. This is why I return here again and again. read more

GC Kenosha ... Golden Corral is a relative newcomer in this area, but they've been here a number of years and have established their reputation. Relatively inexpensive large buffet, they have a wide variety of salad, dessert, and all the normal buffet items to keep a family happy. We've been to a number of Golden Corrals, including ones in other states, and the one in Waukesha. Unfortunately, I have to report that the Kenosha location falls somewhat short in its housekeeping, and our last few visits have left an impression that they should close for a day and just do a general hosedown of the entire joint, touchups/fixups, etc. The waitstaff tends to be a bit surly and we often have to ask for plates or drink refills. Despite that, the quality of the food is generally above average for a buffet restaurant, maybe one in ten things are "bad", with a large percentage of the rest above average. We like the pot roast and the bourbon chicken, be sure to try them. I'm giving this location a "wouldn't recommend", the ones in Waukesha or Illinois are preferable. read more

For $12, you get all you can eat, drink, and then eat some more. You can never beat that- I stuffed myself on steak and what's nice is that the chef will prepare it how you like it. I asked for medium rare and that's what I got. There isn't much selection though, which was surprising. They had the normal, mashed potatoes and macaroni & cheese...and that was pretty much it. The other sides didn't look too appetizing, but I'm not too hard to please. The chocolate fountain was pretty cool, but I went right to the soft-serve ice cream to enjoy the basics. Waitress was attentive and was always around to refill our drinks. The only problem with places like this is how rude and inconsiderate other guests are. Some people have no concept of courtesy or or control over their kids or themselves. However, that's not Golden Corral's issue, because with some of these people- you get dinner AND a show! They ask you to put on a glove to serve yourself but you see the cooking staff come out to check on the food without gloves themselves! Scratching at their legs. The Good: The chocolate wonderfall was everything it looks to be on the TV and so was the cotton candy. I started and ended there. YUM. The other food was as good as anyone can expect from a buffet and there was a wide variety. The waitress annoyed me but my family loved her. The waitress treated them like old friends. She was loud and invasive and kept them laughing. She was kind of the life of the party! The Bad: One week ago we called to reserve a room for a party and were told that 2 weeks prior they stopped reserving the room for parties. We showed up and sat in the room. We were told we had to leave the room because the room was reserved. We challenged about the policy change and were allowed to gather our party in the room after someone concluded you cannot reserve the room on weekends. The Ugly: Chaos at the cashier's station is an understatement. You don't get your own tray and you don't pick up your own cups. I picked up 2 for my mom and me. The lady looked at us, threw the cups over her shoulder, picked up 2 cups of her choosing and filled them with ice. "What do you want to drink?" she asked. She then went on to load our drinks and 6 other drinks on one tray. We stared in confusion and she said, "We put all the drinks on one tray and split them up later." Why???? We also learned that there is no "matinee" pricing on Saturdays nor will the cashier give the senior citizen discount. read more

I have been to this location twice, the first time I loved it, the last time, not so much. We purposely drove to this further location because our first experience was so relaxing and good that I wanted to go back to this one vs. the one closer to my home area. Apparently the first time was a fluke or a much earlier time because it wasn't bad at all. It was a Sunday morning which if anyone has gone to GC you will know Sundays are just a CRAZY day and they are packed all day long. Food was ok but not as much variety as other GC locations. I would have thought they all have or carry the same foods. (Being a chain) I do have to say it was kept pretty clean though and the staff was maintaining that on a constant basis. I know this because I was lucky enough to sit by the carpet sweeper that they kept coming to grab. :) Overall, it's Golden Corral, there's good days and bad. Aside from the crowd that was rudely leering at my cousin and her boyfriend as if interracial couples were a "sin",, we comically enjoyed our night here. Our server, Kayla, her aura is perfect. She means business but she isn't so uptight like most of the staff, she has a wonderful personality. She clears the tables so fast and brought our beverages out even faster.. We sat by the door on the left side upon entrance. Wanted to kick my cousin's ass for sitting us there but it was a great thing we did because the other waitresses looked...stiff. Aside from Kayla, there was an older woman there who was entirely hilarious. I didn't catch her name so I could add her into the review :(. Our food was delicious... except for a few complications... the pistachio pudding needed a dose.of Jesus in it. Lol the ice cream was my favorite laugh of the night. After pulling an old country buffet move I had built the PERFECT sundae. Lol literally by the time I got away from the ice cream area and back to our table the beautiful sundae that I had children envious to make.....had melted. :( I wanted to cry and throw a tantrum lol but it worked out perfectly with that overly fudged brownie they had sitting out. Went there this evening. As usual, this location rocked! Food good, employees friendly and professional. Didn't have to even ask for a refill, server was proactive. The server even asked what we were drinking, remembered it, and gave us refills when we didn't even ask for them. She said that our cups were going empty and thought we'd like refills. Once again, this location rocked compared to the Gurnee, IL location. I have not gone to the Gurnee location since experiencing the service here. The management team should be commended for their superb service. The Gurnee location should take notes on how to improve their service to their patrons. read more

I was very skeptical in going to a buffet during these times, but I would definitely go there again. I went here with my family yesterday and was so surprised by the changes! The employees are wearing masks, the tables have been socially distanced and who gets served at a BUFFET?! It was AWESOME! The menu was great and the food was amazing, especially that bourbon chicken. OMG. Shout out to our server who constantly checked up on us and made sure we had everything we needed at all times. This place isn't that bad. This was my first time at GC. I've always been an OCB guy. I went on a saturday afternoon with my wife. The worst part was the rude cashier. After that the rest was ok. The food was a bit better then I expected. The steak line is placed right in the middle so everyone is trying to get by you or squeeze in for something. My wife and I never got a refill on our drinks but we don't guzzle it down like some people do. For early evening/late afternoon there were a good amount of seats open. We ate all we could with no real problems. One review said the steak was to red. Well it's cooked to order. The guy ask how you want it an if its not what you want you get a different piece. As I said we didn't get one refill on out drinks so I guess that's just who is working. But I think everyone will agree the cashiers are rude and or inconsiderate. If you want a lot of food for a decent price you can't do much better then here. Sorry OCB. read more

It began with the cashier taking my $30, never saying a word, not even a thank you, and then later using the "F" word with another employee. The manager was chit-chatting instead of "managing." This used to be a decent place for seafood on Friday nights. I'm sure I've had a worse piece of steak...I think it may have been when I stole my dog's piece of rawhide. There are very few selections of vegetables. Even my soup bowl was cracked. The salad bar is limited compared to what it used to be. We almost went to Applebee's or Olive Garden. I must have hit my head or something to make me choose this "Corral" but it's not even fit for livestock. Went for dinner around 7 pm and the salad bar was half empty, most of the hot food looked crusty and was Luke warm at best.
