I was in the mood for buffet and had a free meal coupon for my birthday so we headed to the Corral. First, the absolute best thing was the fried fish, then the yeast rolls. We got there, as was planned, at changeover from breakfast to lunch. The bacon and link sausage were good. My eggs were cold. The fresher ones were nicely cooked. For lunch I tasted my husband's fish and it was super yummy. I love Lima beans but had to spit them out. The Mac n cheese and fried chicken were not as good as I remembered. Same with bourbon chicken. The fajita steak was tough. I forgot to try meatloaf but hubs had no complaints. For once I had room for banana pudding and it was good. I made a salad too but the Caesar dressing was not to my liking and croutons were stale. Server was fantastic and always bringing fresh coffee and the Diet Coke was perfectly refreshing. The food here is terrible. Steak was dry and room temperature and had no taste. The fried fish was so overly seasoned it tasted like a cardboard salt lick. The yellow rice was super bland. They didn't have seasonal advertised items like the strawberry salad ingredients or the dragonfruit flavored drinks. The worker at the carving station just stood there (we actually thought there wasn't any cooking going on at that station until we leaned in and got his attention). The bourbon chicken was dry as a stone and had to literally be scraped off the bottom of the pan. The chocolate ice cream was out for the night. The ice cream condiments were questionable looking. Got there about 6 on a Friday night and the place was half empty. Now we know why. The cashiers were friendly but the manager was combative and two employees were in the women's bathroom going back and forth between 2 stalls and then in one stall together. Our waitress was slow and distracted. It was all Very odd and unwelcoming. Overall it was a terrible experience all around. We won't be back and we'll make sure to let everyone know. Came back today because I was craving a nice salad bar and must admit I was not disappointed. Everything was well stocked and fresh. I probably should have gone for a larger plate of salad as it was so good, but would it be a buffet if you didn't have a warm meal too? I opted for the meatloaf, green beans, potatoes, Mac and cheese and collards. It was very good too. Mac and cheese was so creamy. Meatloaf was flavorful and well cooked. Green beans and mash were also very good. Collards weren't great! Clearly the restaurant had been busy as the wait staff were very busy cleaning tables, however they were very friendly, kept my drink filled and took away my empty plate without delay. If you're craving pure comfort food, I'd give this place a try. A bit expensive for someone like myself who only eats one plate, but it was exactly what I wanted. It's been my experience with Golden Corral that the quality of the food varies from location to location--don't get me started on the one on Normandy Blvd. in Westside Jacksonville! Seriously ... just don't! But this place on Blanding in Orange Park was terrific! I personally love how much they celebrate the military--strange, however, they don't offer a military/veterans discount. But I digress. I went to breakfast here with a friend and was not disappointed! The food was great--well ... great for Golden Corral--and the service was attentive and friendly. Four out of five stars. I've visited this location a few times and haven't had any real issues. Like some have said, this location can be a hit or miss. They do give senior citizens a discount and that's a good thing because I'm usually with my grandma if I eat here. The overall layout of the restaurant is spacious enough for large groups of friends who need a convenient place last minute with a lot of options for their discerning palates. And your server will bring you your beverage of choice before [or while] you head over to the 5-6 buffets of hot food, salad bar, dessert station, Mexican station, pasta/Italian station, meat carving area, and more of what other Yelpers describe in their reviews. I feel like if you don't expect much, you won't be disappointed. I don't know if there are any good buffets left in the world lol this place isn't terrible. Just low quality. We came right at four and it seemed like there weren't very many fresh things out. The service wasn't terrible, but it definitely wasn't great. Our waitress, Shirley (I believe), was kind and attentive and that made the experience better. I just thought there'd be more options like a Ryans, but it was all just average. The prices aren't terrible. We just wanted to try it out as I haven't been to one since I was a kid. I doubt we'll be back, though. we really wanted to love it. read more

First, I really appreciate this restaurant's commitment to our Nation's veterans. Their free meal is not on the actual Veterans Day but another day so as not to conflict with others. They had a celebration in their parking lot prior to opening for the free meal. They teamed with the local DMV (Disabled American Veterans, who managed the celebration. Inside the restaurant was a host of amazing servers who really showed their appreciation for the veterans. The owner cooked steaks to perfection. Came near the grand reopening of this place! I used to love this place growing up and always looked forward to going! Sadly this time was not the case and I regret spending my money there. The food was either bland, dry, mushy, hard, or even had mold on some (bread). I'm not kidding but the cupcakes taste exactly like if the corn muffins had icing on them. Not only that but the icing and cupcake were as hard as a rock. The ice cream machine was barely working and was beeping the entire time we were there. The pizza tasted straight of a school cafeteria. The pot roast was slimy and undercooked. The fries, macaroni, and banana pudding tasted like nothing and were just bland. We have never had a problem at Golden Corral until this visit. We came in and everything was pleasant until our waitress started neglecting our table. I had to put our dirty plates on another table 3 times , and I had to ask for refills. The second the time that I asked for refills , I told the waitress that I didn't appreciate her neglecting our table and for her to please refill our drinks. The waitress become outraged that I pointed this out. She asked did I want a manger and I told her I just want our table serviced and can we have refills , then she proceeds to the next table to talk about me complaining about refills and that she hadn't had a complaint in the 5 years that she worked there. I told her it was unprofessional for her to talk about me to the next table and that now I want to speak to a manger. She then yells loudly and points her finger in my face and tells me to get the manager myself! My husband & children immediately became upset. My children cried at the table while I went to go find the manger. I explained the situation to her and then the waitress runs over to defend herself all while pointing her finger in my face again, I had to shout at her to not put her finger in my face. The manager even had to yell at her and tell her to leave the area! The manger gave me a refund but that didn't solve anything. This was a complete disgrace! My children should not have witnessed or experienced this, especially in a family restaurant! As a HR professional I was disgusted by the way this staff member treated my family! She needs corrective training! The waitress had no respect or self dignity the way that acted out and she should be fired. For someone who worked at this establishment for 5 years , she should know how to pick up plates & refill drinks ! Came in after a 10 yr hiatus to try again. Salad was good, service was good, food was terrible. A piece of chicken i got was so dried out that it was like jerky. I didnt know if i was chewing bone or meat. None of the labels matched the food under it. I was extremely disappointed in the quality of the whole meal for as much as i paid. I will not be back. 1/23/22, visiting Fam in Florida and had a good dinning experience with the evening crew. Front cashier was quick with drinks, attentive, and courteous. No issues with crew or food. Cooks and assistants were always clearing/cleaning food display areas so there's no mess. Did not see bathrooms so no input. Parking is a medium size lot. When i walked in i was impressed at first. newly decorated and refurnished. Looks nice i like it.The food was awesome and the service was pretty good. Everyone had full happy Timmy's when we left. What got me though is that the ice cream machines out and we told two people. For twenty minutes neither of them passed a long the news. I watched. Weird ? Oh well. A second thing is when I saw the kitchen doors open all I could think was YUCK!!!! Oh my god how could you work in something like that. Floors and sh** everywhere. Doors close thank god. My 6 y/o daughter loves this place. However, the family just goes because she enjoys it. But yesterday was a disaster the food was definitely left over from the lunch setup! All dried out. I'm vegetarian but the food look down right awful. My daughter complained about the food as well. The meat looked discolored they just put the old meat on the grill when someone asked. It was horrible my son tried and he couldn't chew it. My favorite bread pudding smelled like Raw Eggs and tasted the same. Lastly the staff was rude or at least the one I asked for lemons her reaction was if I asked your for her first firstborn ... I'll never return I told my daughter we'd find her a new favorite place where she can eat all the foods she enjoys at once. There is no doubt that this place is popular. If you have a group with diverse tastes then this place is suitable. Prices are very low. The serving area seems clean the tables and wait staff are very nice. The food is diverse. Unfortunately, the bathrooms are absolutely disgusting 90% of the time. As a customer who likes to wash their hands before dinner this place is alarming. It is as if there is an out of sight out of mind policy there. I makes me wonder since the kitchen is also out of my sight, what is the kitchen cleanliness and maintenance like. Went for Easter Dinner and man what a disappointment. The place was not busy and they just took there sweet time refilling empty food trays. Mind you it was around 5:30 and I couldn't even get a decent meal. Had to keep going back and check to see if the replenished anything. The lack of care was definitely present. This past weekend my family of 4 found ourselves very hungry and everyone wanted something different and we started looking for a buffet and we saw one of our favorite signs "Golden Corral". We arrived on Sunday at about 1:00 -- right when all the church folks start hunting for their Sunday dinner place. uggh!! parking lot was full, and there was a small line inside, but after getting in we were able to find a table very easily. And, it was really clean too! All of us hit the food bars all looking for something we each liked. I thoroughly enjoy the shrimp scampi and broiled fish; my husband the carnivore he is has to have his steak, my son likes the fried chicken and lima beans and my daughter really just wants to stick dozens of strawberries & marshmellows under the chocolate waterfall; but will eat some fish and shrimp and a few other veggies along with me, before I will let her indulge in the chocolate lovers fantasy, of dipping everything you can put a stick in with warm chocolate "gooieness" . (I enjoy this almost as much as my daughter does!) Our waitress kept our dirty dishes cleared away and our drink glasses full and had a wonderful smile. Even the bathroom was clean and smelled fresh at one of their peak customer hours. When I was eating here, I was disgusted for SEVERAL reasons- the ceiling was leaking, I could smell the bathroom from my table, my chicken smelled like cigarettes, which I found made perfect sense after seeing what must have been a cook smoking cigarettes and walking back in, and worst of all, I had a woman named "Penny" who said she was a manager, making several racist comments to another staff member right beside my table. It's Golden Corral. As a rule, I try and avoid buffet places, but mom wanted to check it out. Nobody expects gourmet, but it could have been better. On some of the fried items, there was too much pepper (mainly the fried okra.) The white rice was more bloated than cooked, a pet peeve of mine. I wouldn't recommend getting anything even remotely seafood like here. The fish with lemon and herb sauce on top tasted more like eggs. How? I don't know. Popcorn shrimp had no taste but the fried part. The pot roast was really good, though. Probably because it's a dish designed to sit in a crock pot. As always, the rolls were FANTASTIC!!! Let me start by saying that I enjoy Golden Corral I have been to many in town and also out of town and it's the only place I go with some family members. I understand that it is a buffet but certain standards need to be met for any restaurant. While the wait staff was very friendly which was the only positive part of my experience. Several of the cooks were rude to not only their fellow co workers but to the customers as well. The food looked unappetizing and far from fresh and the selection was poor at best. I'm sad to see that the closest Golden Corral to me is the worst one I have ever experienced. I will return to Golden Corral but unfortunately not to this location.
