no plates cleared, no drinks refilled. What's going on??
    Carl W.

I normally really like this location. This instance though, the staff servicing the tables was shockingly bad. My parents picked the table but a tipoff was the neighboring tables with piles of plates and used napkins on them. Aside from dropping off our drinks, we never were attended to at all. It's not even that Tatiana was busy--she was just hanging out in her work area most of the time. 1st time in a restaurant, especially a buffet, where the wait staff was nonexistent.

Food was cold, had a thick crust on the top of everything as nobody has turned the pans. Nobody was behind the bars to carve the turkey, pork or ham. When i asked for a piece of steak they refused to cook a piece as they had a small dried out piece they would rather serve to the paying customer. The restaurant was clean, but the staff is more worried about eating and recording each other instead of taking care of business. Seen a manager walk past a couple times with not a clue how to run an establishment. To many places to eat in sandusky, please don't waste you time and money here!

Our server - Angel - was amazing! She was incredibly friendly and sweet. She made our visit wonderful. My son even requested a photo with her at the "photo op" wall, and she agreed. :) The restaurant was also themed. There were a LOT of themed decorations. When we visited in the summer of 2023, it was pirate themed, and we were told the theme changes periodically, but I can't remember how often. It was very cool. The singing, wandering "busser" robots were interesting. The food wasn't amazing, but it wasn't bad at all. It seems weird to think/say/type, but the ambience at this Golden Corral truly made it a special place. If we are in the area again, this will probably top our list of restaurants we want to visit!

1st it's a Sunday afternoon and there was NO line. The food was 100. Everything we ate was on point. In Michigan/Westland the line is out of the doors, long wait, crowded and food is not too good anymore. I'll drive an 1.5hrs to Come back

Had a great experience here. The hostess/cashiers were very nice, and we discussed them being twins and meeting our triplets. The food was good and the service was nice. The kids love being able to choose what they want to eat. Also, all the deserts you can eat isn't bad. I just dont like how I over eat everytime then feel like I'm in a food come. Oh well, that's what I get. Still won't keep us from coming back. Wish they had onion rings I could trt.

Typical Golden Corral but brand new as it just opened up and you can definitely tell as it was jumping on this Saturday night! So I've been to one of their locations before back in California and it wasn't the best but that's not the case here as everything I had was quite good and really just hit the food coma spot! It was some of my coworkers idea to come here so we did for that all you can eat action of this that and everything in between for that so grab some of this grab some of that and you know your going to want more so it's all that! Overall it is what it is when you come to Golden Corral if you've been to one before then you know what to expect so from that I really hope that this location keeps up as from what I've heard things in Sandusky just don't last!

As a Pescetarian in Northeast Ohio I have meaning to try Jolly Roger Seafood House for a while,…read morewell I finally got there and the big question is why I waited so long. Jolly Roger is located in Port Clinton right on Lake Erie; I was expecting something ordinary or just a bit dated and boy was I wrong. The building is very modern and clean from the outside, white and angular with big windows. Inside white walls, rough hewn wooden tables and just the right amount of decor makes for a modern seaside feel, casual but also classy. The setup is fast casual, you order and pay up front at the counter, get a number for your table and then get your own drink at the service station. The menu is understandably very heavy on fish and seafood with a couple of other items. While there are the expected fried fish meals, but also oysters, shrimp and salmon, salads and even some tacos. The reason I came was of course for the fried fish, I decided on the Perch and Chips, which is $18. I grabbed some water, hot sauce and lemon and settled onto a table. The meal was brought out fresh and hot by a food runner in a couple of minutes. The meal was 4 nice sized perch fillets on top of a generous portion of fresh waffle fried potatoes with a side of tarter sauce. The fish were excellent, fresh and perfectly fried with a nice crispy cornmeal crust around the delicately fish; moist with a slight sweetness and perfect texture. The waffle fries were exceptional, fried to a crisp outside and tasty inside; usually fries at a seafood place are an afterthought, here they actually are well worth getting and eating. Even the tarter sauce was very nice, nothing special but creamy with a nice pickle contrast to add a little extra flavor. Usually when I see a place that has been around this long and has great reviews I am a bit let down when I give them a try; Jolly Rogers Seafood House exceeded my expectations in almost every way. Although set up as a fast casual restaurant with a typical fried seafood menu, the actual restaurant feels more upscale and modern with a great inside and a very nice patio looking out onto Lake Erie. The food is not cutting edge, but it is expertly prepared and delicious. Prices are moderate with large portions for your money. Some of the best fried perch and waffle fries I have had. I will be back any time I am in the area, a very high recommendation as long as you are looking for fish or seafood, go and enjoy.

I got a pint of reasonably priced beer while I waited on my order. So I ordered a 9" pepperoni and mushroom pizza and some breaded deep fried mushrooms to go. My order came out within 15 minutes. The pizza was pretty good. The crust was thin and crispy. The sauce was pretty decent. There were a fair amount of toppings although they weren't spread out very evenly. The price was about right ($12) but the breaded mushrooms were a little steep ($8) for the few smallish pieces I got. The staff was friendly and they do have a reasonably priced pizza buffet that would definitely entice hungry families on a budget. Chet and Matt's is a 4 star kind of place.

There also appeared to be a salad bar that we did not get a chance to try. We ordered two orders of breadsticks with cheese for the table, cheese pizza, meat lovers pizza, redskin potato pizza along with fried cauliflower. I wished the waitress would have offered some advice when we ordered that much food. The breadsticks with cheese were essentially a ticker cheese pizza and we were completely full when the actual cheese pizza arrived. The red skin pizza was good as it was something new I don't typically see around. The best part of the whole meal was the fried cauliflower which I wish we had a bigger portion as we were trying to split with the table. I'm not sure if I would come back here. The food was fine but nothing to rave over other than the fried cauliflower that I feel we didn't get enough of.

They have really good egg rolls and other appetizers. I haven't tried every item on the menu, but my favorites are Almond Chicken, General Chicken and Mongolian Beef. The portion sizes are very fair & filling. Almond chicken is battered white meat chicken pieces over a little bit of fresh cabbage. Slivered almonds on top and DELICIOUS sauce. The General chicken is different from most other restaurants I've visited, but I still like it. Same battered white meat chicken as the almond chicken dish, but a tasty/spicy brown sauce instead. If you like spicy dishes, the mongolian beef is great. Strips of beef with plenty of fresh veggies. You can order it mild, medium or hot. I only have two negative things to say, but they aren't enough to sway me from frequenting the restaurant again. One, I wasn't a big fan of the fried rice that came with the entrees. It was a little plain, but no big deal. Two, as others have mentioned in reviews, the food is served in sorta flimsy styrofoam containers. It can be a bit messy carrying your items home with the sauce leaking out. (I love how you get plenty of sauce in your meal, though. So, I'm hesitant to complain. lol)

The price for a family suit on a Wednesday with 4 passes to the water park is very reasonable. Upon arrival check in was simple and went pretty quickly. You are allowed to start your fun before the room is ready, which is good because the waterpark closes at 8 and opens at 10 am. You can also continue to play after check out. We found this very nice because you wouldn't get much time to play if not. Our room was ready early but our bands didn't open our room so they gave us new ones. The girls working were friendly and helped us sort it out quickly. We were disappointed to find hair in both of our beds. We called and requested fresh bedding because we wanted to get playing. They never came but they did give us a new room, also with hair on the sheets. Our cleaning person came in and we watched her replace the pillowcases with clean right off the cart and guess what? Still hair! This is a laundry issue but we were relieved to know it wasn't because our beds were dirty. This was our only negative issue. Our room was clean and spacious. The pull out sofa wasn't the most comfy but we were so wore out we slept well. The Waterpark wasn't very crowded and it was very fun for our boys! My grandson said he felt like a VIP and they will both remember this fun time. The workers keep a very good eye on things. We felt safe. There's a Dunkin Donuts in the lobby and you can order on an app which I recommend because I ordered at the kiosk and waited 30 mins for 2 coffees. ($9) I would recommend ordering ahead and pick it up when you get a text to save waiting too long. We brought in snacks and drinks to our room. We had a fridge but no microwave. The kiosk check in process was a breeze, and I LOVE that water park wristbands double as room keys because it's one less thing to worry about losing. The onsite Dunkin offered good food at reasonable prices. The drinks were really good and felt like they justified their price because they were huge. The hotel rooms were very nice. The arcade was nice, and provided a good variety of games. The bad: Paying for parking is a huge turn-off. It's $20 per day just to park in an ordinary parking lot, which seems like an excessive charge that the resort knows it can get away with because people have to park. Strategies like that feel like they're trying to squeeze every nickel and dime out of patrons. The water park, itself, isn't great. There's two nice-sized tube slides and some very short body slides. The lazy river is also very short and filled with empty tubes in a way that feels claustrophobic. The hot tubs are nice. But it just doesn't feel like there's anything particularly exciting to do. Once you've been down the slides a few times and checked out the hot tubs, that's mostly it unless you're a little kid (there's a few activities that are geared for young kids). Overall: If you want a good resort experience, you can get it here. If you want a good water park experience, you've got much better options nearby.
