I do not understand why this place is rated low, it's a buffet and sometimes it's not good but most times it's great! Manage your expectations - it's a buffet so if you come when it's not busy the food will sit longer but if you come when busy everything is fresh and delicious. Want to consider is some restaurants are better than others. I have noticed that the restaurant in Winchester Kentucky is better than the restaurant in Lexington Kentucky so that's where we go. The difference is freshness of food and service. But for the cost of a meal of all you can eat of all varieties it's well worth the money I would recommend to anyone who hates to pay $15 for one plate of food and still be hungry. We all fell ill after eating here. The fried chicken was cold. Not room temp, but cold. I saw them put "fresh" chicken out so I went back for a new piece. It was warm, not hot. The rolls were flat and dry. The ribs were dryer than beef jerky. The mac and cheese was flavorless and the noodles were overcooked. The dessert bar was lacking and pitiful. My first time at this Golden Corral. It's pretty nice. There is an amazing assortment of foods. All that I had was cooked nicely and tasted good - just like home cooked. Better actually, and I didn't have to clean up afterwards. I am amazed at the folks that pile their plates high and then leave most of it - what a waste. The staff was very friendly and efficient. The ladies bathrooms are DISGUSTIN!!!! no manager around to report it to- no one would answer the phone even when I tried to call and talk to a manager. and it wasn't just from someone not monitoring their child well enough and letting them mess around- no this was weeks of not months of built up filth and scum EVERYWHERE!! the walls, the floors, the toilets- everything. We eat here about once per month, and take friends and family sometimes. No one is ever disappointed. Food quality and selection is very good. Great salad bar. Good fish and shrimp. We were in town and didn't know what to pick so we decided on Golden Corral. That was our first mistake. This place is absolutely terrible. The food was either overcooked or undercooked. The baked potato was crunchy in the middle. The mens bathroom was disgusting. The only positive was the waitress. She was on too of it. We eat there at least once a week sometimes more! The appearance & quality of the food is always good if not excellent. This is not a new location so while worn it is always clean. However it is the staff that makes this our favorite GC between here & Fort Walton, Fl., they make it special; like family (only better;) read more

Stopped for a carryout plate just now. We were both "treated" to badly cut, fully half fat steak, nauseatingly loaded with gristle. This used to be a decent restaurant, but it isn't the first time of late that we got shoddy, poor servings of beef here. The single most horrific experience I've had ever had at a restaurant of any sort. Golden Corral is a nasty shack that holds a buffet inside. The food is bland and tasteless and just plain disgusting. As I walked into Golden Corral the smell of poo and dirt welcomed me. They overcharged me for my buffet, charged me for four buffets when I only ordered two. Ridiculous. As I seated myself and went to get my food on the dirty buffet the power shuts off. Here I am in a stinky Golden Corral that has no power. It's dark and I have to scrummage for some food. Everyone suddenly gets up to get food because the power is off and they can't cook anymore food. It's like the Hunger Games as I squeeze through people to get my pitiful chicken tenders. I couldn't even see the food on the buffet because the lights and power were off. This is the worst dining experience of my life. This place needs to be tore down. I have a deep distain for this sorry excuse of a buffet. Since the power was out no one could get drinks, warm food, and ice cream. I like Golden Corral better back before they had a buffet. The buffet is okay, standard fair, about what you expect from any restaurant that serves traditional American food. The Hub and I went on a date I chose this place... To be honest when I first started out each plate I grabbed was dirty had food on it, so I kelp putting the dirty ones to the side until I found a clean one. By this time I was ready to go! I did eventually find a clean plate, and I ate the steak, llama beans,cheesy potatoes and a very small portion of bourbon chicken and rice rolls and a salad, and chocolate pie. I am usually not a Golden Corral fan but this was a great dining experience. We were with a large group, and they easily accomodated us. Our server Ms Debbie was amazing, constantly in motion, and checking to see if we were ok. Although Golden Corral isn't known for fine dining cuisine, the food was great for a buffet style establishment. I've visited this location a couple different times, and each time it's been great. The food is always hot and fresh and the staff are friendly.
