DO NOT GO HERE!! My family and I visited the Winchester location of Applebees on Sunday, November 9, 2025 at 2:15 pm EST. When we entered the restaurant, we noticed the numerous amount of open tables. Several employees looked at us standing at the hostess stand and continued walking. No one greeted us for at least five minutes before my mother went to the bartender and asked if we were supposed to seat ourselves. The bartender said the hostess would be with us in a moment and pointed to the hostess who was wiping down tables. She went to the back and grabbed some menus, then came out and told us it would be at least a 25 minute wait. However, there were only four tables that were being served along with five individuals seated at the bar. That is all that was in the entire restaurant and we seen at least five waitresses walking around. If you do not want business, close your doors!! read more

This was by far the worst Applebees I've ever been to. I hardly ever chose "chain restaurants" but this was within walking distance from our hotel. After driving almost 10 hours we went in for a family dinner. The server, Parker, was awesome! Everything else was awful. There were 5 of us dining, the 1st entree and appetizer came out first.. 12 mins later was the 2nd entree, 7 mins after that was mine and then it took another 10 mins for the last 2 entrees to come out... our server seemed to also be the bartender for the entire restaurant. He was so professional and friendly, I honestly felt so bad for him. His service was outstanding, however the rest of the experience was absolutely terrible. I believe the AC was out because they had a fan blowing and it was uncomfortably warm in there also. If it wasn't for Parker trying so hard and profusely trying to make things right we would have left. It was horribly understaffed and seemed as tho the "manager" had absolutely no clue of how to properly manage the front of the house. read more

I went to this Applebee's on Tuesday January 10th about 7pm. I was with my wife and my dad and one of his friends. We all ordered meals and the service was good, except the 10 ounce steak my wife ordered was undercooked and very grisly. She tried to eat one bite but couldn't eat it. I called this to our server's attention and he was pretty indifferent. He asked if we wanted to see the manager, I made the comment "not unless they can make this steak better." He told us all the steaks were USDA "approved" ( I think all steaks in all restaurants are) and walked away. I haven't eaten at an Applebee's in years and after tonight I doubt I'll ever bother again. Another comment- the parking lot is dangerously dark at night. Once you're past the front sidewalk the lot lights either do not work or are turned off. This day and age businesses should value the safety of their patrons more. You could easily be accosted or suffer a bad fall in the dark. read more

The service was slow as usual, but the food came out quicker than normal and was actually good!! I had previously sworn off this restaurant, but my mom was hungry and loves French onion soup!! The restaurant was not crowded at all, which is also not unusual and not related to the current COVID Pandemic!! My salad was very good and had chopped tomatoes and cucumbers and lots of cheese. I usually really like Applebee's. The one in Radcliff, KY is very good consistently. This one, however, was not very impressive. My sister and I had lunch on a Saturday. We had great service but the food was NOT GOOD! I got French onion soup and spinach dip. The soup was fine but not very full at all. The spinach dip was terrible. It was really runny and tasted watered down. The chips were stale and had no salt. My sister got the bourbon shrimp and chicken. She said her shrimp was really good, but the chicken was undercooked. She had to send it back to be put back on the grill. Even when it came back out, it was inedible. She said her mashed potatoes were good though. I don't get to Winchester often, but I don't plan on going back to this Applebee's unfortunately. read more

Hats off to Applebees for feeding our local military Vets for free. I went in on 11/11/18 and true to their word they met me at the door with a smile, I told them I was a Veteran when they asked and gave me a Nice table and the vets menu. I chose the 6 oz sirloin with garlic mashed potatoes. Med rare as always. After a 4 minute wait they brought me a plate and included a nice serving of broccoli. Steak was small but cooked perfectly and very tender. All in all a very nice experience. Ices tea was also free. They gave me a $5 off card for my next visit. I must say this time was better than last. And thanks to boy scout troop 22 in Winchester for the embroidered star. Very good job Scouts! And thanks Applebees for supporting the troops! read more

I travel for my work quite a bit, and the Winchester Location is by far my favorite Applebee's. I eat dinner at this location with my family about 5-6 a year for several reasons. First, they do a superb job recognizing Veterans Day. Second, it is always clean. Third, the wait staff is very friendly. And finally, the food is consistently good. Service can sometimes be slightly slow, but I think that is across the board at all Applebee's locations. But if you are willing to relax and enjoy some time with others, this location can't be beat. read more

This was apparent once she tasted the rice that is now tough and chewy. My wife ordered the three cheese cavatappi which was tasteless for lack of a better description. We usually visit Applebee's once per year, when we are in the Clark County, Kentucky area, as it is one of the few dining options in the area that has a bar. Otherwise, this is not the type of place we'd frequent. The only reason we're writing this review is to express our intense irritation about this national chain's current menu. At present, the only items on the menu that are vegetarian are fried appetizers such as cheese sticks and potato "twisters" (chips), spinach artichoke dip, and tomato-basil soup (note: even the entree *salads* all have meat on them). It is unacceptable that Applebee's doesn't even have one entree option for vegetarians. There used to be a spinach flatbread pizza option, but it is gone. This is nuts, because even places like Burger King and Buffalo Wild Wings (other stops we frequent on our yearly trek to the midlands) have vegetarian options (BK has a gardenburger and BWW has a gardenburger, a black bean burger). There is no reason why this chain can't have a bleeping package of garden or boca burgers in the freezer so a diner can substitute it for a meat patty. On a side note, the servers might not want to laugh when diners inquire about vegetarian options. Our server also suggested that we simply order, for instance, a salad without meat. We refuse to pay anywhere from 10-12 dollars for a salad comprised mainly of iceberg lettuce. Boo. read more

It's been awhile since we ate here. And it will be years before we come back again. It isn't 30 minutes to Hamburg as someone earlier pointed out, its only about 15 minutes on the interstate to get to Hamburg from the Winchester Applebee's. Your life will be much better and you will have a much better meal if you drive to Hamburg. Let's see it took 1 hour after ordering before we received our appetizers. And that was after we asked a manager to check on our appetizers because we had not seen our waiter in 20 minutes. Our waiter was very off. Carried water glasses and drinks pressed up against his chest instead of on. Tray. Grossed me out and I told everyone at our table to use straws. Then came our steaks. We ordered Medium steaks and baked potatoes. Received rare steaks and hard potato's we could barely open. Sent them back and received slightly better cooked steaks and just a little bit softer potato's back. Next came the bill where we were charged for a different wine than we ordered. When I questioned the waiter about that because it was a $3 difference for each glass, he reached in his pocket and threw $4 on the table he says to make up the difference. When we left the manager asked me at the door how the meal was and I said "terrible". He offered to get us some discount tickets for our next meal but I said no I wouldn't be back for at least another 2 years even though I live in this town. Well to top off our wonderful experience at this Applebee's we just got our Hepatitis A vaccinations. Anyone who ate here between 11/14 and 11/25/18 was most likely exposed to Hepatitis A and it is recommended they receive the Hepatitis A Vaccine. My insurance covered it but it cost my mother a little over $92 dollars read more

Had a girls night out at Applebee's tonight. Ordered a cheeseburger with "no pink". The only part of the burger that was "no pink" was the outside. Fries were cold and limp. I guess that I would judge Applebee's by the baked potatoes. The last few times I ate there they weren't all that good. I wish that they would bake them in foil and bake them until they are creamy inside. I'm not sure how they are cooked but they are almost hard when they bring them to the table.
