We came here for the very first today. The employees were nice, unfortunately the food was not so great. I ordered the crab eggs benedict, my husband ordered the chicken fried steak with eggs over easy and home fries. My daughter's ordered the kids meals. Two had the pancakes with bacon, one had french toast and one a chocolate chip pancake. My kids loved their food, the pancakes were shaped like Mickey Mouse, which I'm not sure it's always that way or if it were because they had Disney princess inspired Mickey Mouse ears; either way it was cool! My crab eggs benedict was drenched in "hollandaise sauce", I'm not sure if it was even hollandaise sauce. The crab tasted like a crab salad and the imitation kind and the home fries were basically raw, no crisp to it. The eggs were nicely done though. My husband's chicken fried steak tasted like scrapple, not cooked well either. In my experience with this type of platter, the steak should be flattened, then breaded and fried, this was thick and not crispy, more like mush. His homefries were also mushy, no crisp to them. This is my 3rd review on a Levittown food business and this is the only one that had any positive feedback. I hope I can try this place again with a better review. read more

Still a dive. This time hostess walks you to table throws menus on table doesnt even say anything . Two problems Order was for two omelets both called for sour cream and salsa and came without it .Second I asked for onions in home fries and that didnt happen. Everytime we have been there there is an issue . Didnt complain because all the past times they make it seem as though your a pain in the ass . Never again I should have followed the advice of friends and workers how the place changed and they stopped going their . Guess it took me longer to learn my lesson . read more

I don't think there is anything bad on this menu. Breakfast here was awesome the last two times I've been. Each time ordering something different. I do recommend trying the breakfast panini. You will not be disappointed and can thank me later. But let's cut to the point why I gave Golden Dawn 5 stars. If there was more allowed, I'd give them 100 stars. I am a BIG French onion soup junkie. I'll order it anywhere and everywhere I go hoping to find the best. There is a diner in Bordentown, called Town and Country that I swear makes the BEST French onion. However, that may now be up for debate. Wow!! Their soup here I think takes the cake. It was salty but not too salty. And the onions were perfectly cooked. I also had their chicken salad, which is also a favorite of mine. It was okay here. I thought a bit dry. I have try a few diners in the area and found this one to be the best, fast service mostly, a few slope poke servers at times, large food portions, big desserts, large menu with lots of items to tempt your tummy. If you like grill cheese they make the best ever. I even had there version of "Surf and Turf" and it was good, not a big fan of their tomato sauce kind of lacks any real taste, and please keep away from the Zucchini ewww LOL I like to see bread plate when bringing bread, or when bring appetizers you have to eat off the same plate. Give more salad dressing two cups be fine for there salads. I found the atmosphere to be nice for a diner some renovations should be done, been the same for to long but still OK, I am not a fan of the people aloud to smoke right out side doors nothing like walking into a cloud of smokers. WORST diner around. More for the people that own it and work there. Bunch of trash. Ordered medium rare, came out not rare, sent back, came back out worse than the first time. Said just take it off the bill. Check comes and they charge me $3 for soup ( I guess I could have thrown up the soup and given it back since it came PRIOR to the wrong entre) and $6 for a small side salad ( which was not even eaten,) Waitress was an idiot, only had 2 good ones in 7 months there. Owner came over and proceeded to tell me that my entrée was medium rare and that he didn't care because I was wrong. His trashy wife then gave me $10 too much and chased me down, got in my face and other waitresses saying they would spit in my food. No class. Although Golden Dawn gives very generous portions (easily like three meals put into one), I would have honestly preferred smaller portions at lower prices. I choose the cream of turkey soup, salad with Italian dressing, mashed potatoes with gravy, french fries, and jello for dessert. The waitress first brought out salads, soups, and bread sticks with marinara sauce. The cream of turkey soup literally tasted like gravy with a few chunks of turkey... It really did not have an appetizing flavor or consistency. The salad filled a full standard dinner plate with the cup of dressing on the side, and the bread sticks tasted a bit stale.. The steak was FREAKIN' HUGE. It was seriously twice the size of steaks you would get at other restaurants, but it was pretty thin. My sides were meh... the mashed potatoes didn't have much flavor, and the fries looked and tasted old. The jello.... was jello. EVERYTHING WAS BLAND. The soup, the bread sticks, the steak, mashed potatoes, and the fries. -_- Everything needed more salt and pepper. Bottom Line: Portions are definitely worth the value. Just moved to the area and came here for brunch. Pretty good food. I got a cheeseburger and it had two pieces of cheese which I loved and it came with fries. My husband got a turkey blt which came with fries as well. I noticed a good amount of entrées came with fries which I love because fries are awesome! We will be returning customers! Go on, ask for whipped cream. You won't be sorry. The Golden Dawn moves with the ebbing & flowing hustle or meandering that comes with any hometown diner. Their menu is extensive, and I can't say I ever had anything there that I didn't like. The wait staff is always nice, and the prices have gone up over the years, but nothing outrageous. It's a great place for brunch or breakfast for dinner, or just to drag your old hometown cronies out for a night on the town like you did in high school if you're home for the holidays. I am so DISAPPOINTED. The food was so NASTY, from the appetizer to the main dish. I ordered chicken afredo. It was so oilly and tasteless. The same with my sister's meal, she ordered the chicken sorrento. The pasta was so soft and soggy. On the positive side, our server did a good job. She was very attentive and polite. there are three types diners. Good, normal, BAD. This is a normal 24 hours diner, because of that a lot of the food is pre-made and frozen or delivered frozen. Good serving sizes make up for the lackluster of some not so dinner classics, but you really can't go wrong with eggs and breakfast foods. read more

the waitress (black hair, big lips, some tattoos) was rude and threw the straws down on the table and didn't bring the cup of hot water i asked for to the table nor did she tell us her name. i asked another waiter (white guy with tattoos) for a straw and he was rude/giving attitude telling us he's can't give us a straw because he's not our server even thought he had at least 100 straws in his apron. This past weekend (May 23rd 2021) was the second (and last time) I will order from this restaurant for take out. I have gone there in person but since COVID, I have ordered twice as take-out and both times was horrible. I called an order in almost one hour before pick up and when I got there, I still had to wait almost 30 minutes for the food order...which was completely wrong! One was a Greek salad that I expressly ordered NO anchovies and it came WITH anchovies, the other was a simple spinach and feta cheese omelet with ham added and there was NO ham. Worse part was that the order slip had NO ANCHOVIES clearly written and the ham I repeatedly told the clerk answering the phone that I wanted was not even written on the slip. I gave two chances; they failed both times. Don't bother; quality of food was terrible, especially for the outrageous high prices. read more

My wife and I visited Golden Dawn Diner last night. We were greeted like always with a smile and friendly conversation. Our server was Kelsey, she was wonderful. She explained that she is a new hire and was advised that we were great customers. The service and food was excellent. Kelsey took the time to make sure my wife got her take out order right before we were ready to leave. Golden Dawn is our favorite, which we visit frequently. The chicken noodle soup is to die for. We had a party of three, and we're all deeply dissatisfied with the food. The salad was fresh, that's the best I can say. The salad dressings were horrible. French was salty, Thousand Island was separated. The cream of turkey soup was bland. The breadsticks were dry and bland. The fried eggplant was tasteless. The stuffed flounder had two problems: the paper-thin fish was overcooked and tough, and the crab stuffing was lukewarm and runny. The stuffed chicken parmigiana had terrible sauce on it. This is not only really good food, they give you a plate FULL of stuff. We both had the beef pannini which comes with home made soup and fries. It was outrageously good, it cost just a little over six bucks each and we walked away stuffed (with doggie bags) for a lot less than 20 bucks.
