A pretty average place for Chinese in downtown Joliet and it might just be the best around here. Golden Dragon is fairly cheap and it has big portions. It certainly isn't very good but it's still not that bad though. Basic Chinese American menu items. The food is about as good as the price so it's pretty okay for what it's like. It has some basic Americanized Chinese. Pretty much about what you expect. The prices are pretty acceptable for this. Has a few healthier choices among the vegetarian friendly items. There's a few to get that are big portions. Bean Curd With Country Style is the actual name. It's $8.95 for the lunch portion. This has lots of broccoli and not many other vegetables. Flavor is okay. This isn't like others how it could be overly salty. Good for cheap tasting Chinese food. If better is available get it but this isn't as bad as expected upon seeing the cheap looking exterior of the building it's in. The food is fast too. read more

I moved to Joliet from Chicago, 3 months ago and have experienced a food desert. Seriously, this town sucks for great food alternatives. I've lived in Chicago South Loop, just 3 blocks from Chinatown and was CERTAIN I would never get good Chinese food in Joliet. Boy was I wrong! It wasn't good, it was awesome! The food here is your basic chinese Americanized cuisine. The egg rolls are probably the worst thing I had here. They were terrible and tasted old. Do NOT order here ever! This is NOT GOLDEN DRAGON! that you expect!!! Just a cheap Chinese place that is infringing on the Golden Dragon Name to give you bad service and shit as a side order! I placed a $40 dollar delivery order and was missing 2 extra scallops and 3 extra jumbo shrimps from my soup, I specifically ordered 5 extra jumbo shrimp and five extra scallops at a dollar a piece extra that were charged on the order at a $10 upgrade. Also. I requested extra dipping sauce for the steamed dumplings times two. When the order arrived I was missing four dollars in extra shrimps and scallops and the dipping sauce for the dumplings was not there at all. I decided to give the place a chance and not say anything that night since I had guests to entertain. I just poured regular soy sauce on the dumplings and forgot the missing jumbo shrimp and scallops that I paid for that night. The next day I called this place up only to explain their mistakes from the night before just to let them know what happened with the delivery. I got put on hold twice, and after waiting to speak to them, I got a really rude woman who yelled at me over the phone, and screamed that everything was placed in my order and delivered fine. After a 10 minute one way hostile conversation with her, I finally gave up and told her; This is not how you run a business, only to be told screw you and to get hung up on. Sad, Will never again eat here or even try to call up and talk to these people. CONSUMERS, STAY AWAY! I REALLY dont like chinese food but this was delicious. I would absolutely eat here again. The woman on the phone sounds like she has an attitude but it's only becasue of the slight language barrier. In person they are very nice. The food was honestly amazing. My wife and I got the garlic chicken combo and the mongolian beef combo and wolfed them down. The only other place that could even possibly compete is China kitchen, but for $14.00 on a full size mongolian beef, full size garlic chicken with chicken fried rice and two eggrolls there is no competition. Carryout or delivery only here. I wish they had a few more beef options for the lunch specials but the price is right ($4.60 with soup or eggroll) so I deal with it. Tried the man's curry chicken last week and it was fantastic. Huge regular menu with plenty of yummy options. The Mongolian beef (my fave Chinese dish) is fabulous. The one star, I guess you could say is because it was so cheap. I tried this place after not being too wowed with anything closer. I should have stuck to the old places. It was one of the worst Chinese restaurants I have ever ordered from. I got the dinner special which comes with pork fried rice and a rather large egg roll. The chicken was really greasy, very bland. The sweet and sour sauce was a bit sweet but had no other flavor at all. The fried rice was really dark for whatever reason. It had what looked like frozen vegetables (cubed pieces of carrot and old shriveled peas) in it. The meal looked like something straight out of a school cafeteria or frozen dinner. The egg roll size was impressive and it almost looked tasty.... Then I bit into it. It was no better than a frozen one from the grocery store, filled with God only knows what. It had an unrecognizable bright red meat of some sort inside. The color was really unappetizing. I guess I'm used to chicken or shrimp in my egg rolls.
