We heard that Shenanigans Sports Bar and Grill was opening again in Barneveld Wisconsin! Their new location is on the same block as the previous but this building was long known as thousand island bar. I saw a new sign outside and stopped in, I was told that after lots of cleaning and renovations they will officially be open on Monday, April 2! Breakfast was terrible. Husbands pancakes sat under a light for over 5 minutes. Two separate couples came in after us and got their meal before us. Waitress came to apologize and that they were working on our order. Ordered crispy bacon. Came half raw. Sent it back. Cook was not happy. Bill came no comp. read more

This bar was "Lucky's", but now has new owners and a new name. You wouldn't know anything has changed by going there. A date and and went after having dinner at Hooterville. Well if you read my old posts about Lucky's you know how I complained about the service. Trust me when i say, it hasn't changed. My date and I couldn't even get a drink. We walked in and sat at the bar, and waited for 15 to 20 minutes while we were ignored by both bartenders. I'm assuming we were not old enough? The average age of its patron was 60. I really hate this places. Its a shame this place cannot get an award for the worst service. If you are in town go to the 1000 island bar, or drive the 5 miles to Blue Mounds and go to the Hooterville Inn, where people are friendly. read more

I came here on a week night with a friend to grab a drink after work. We sat at the bar and waited and waited for a bartender to approach us or even make eye contact with us. I put a $20 bill on the bar and waited. We got up and left when we sat there for a while... The bee wasn't busy or even crowded, and there were 2 bartenders. I don't know.. I spent some time here with friends after a wedding. The bar was spacious and clean. The server/bartender came to our table right away to take drink orders. She seemed very confused by simple drink orders, I had to explain to her what a vodka soda was. She was very friendly though, and our drinks came out okay and it didn't take too long. The same thing happened when we ordered food, she seemed confused about everything. We had to clarify basic special requests (ex: a side of mayo,) it was pretty odd. The food was good when it came out, your run of the mill bar food, but it hit the spot. I will say the fries were pretty bland, like they forgot to put salt on them. I really liked the chicken tenders, they were crispy and satisfying. The server split our checks up for us without being asked, and despite us ordering a lot of food and drinks, everyone's check was correct. Would I go out of my way to go back to Shenanigans? No way. Would I stop by if I had some time to kill in that area? For sure. read more

Great service, good food, very efficient waitresses and bartending staff on weekend nights, I haven't been in other nights than Thursday-Sunday. The only complaints I have is with the manager. She yells at her employees in full sight of customers. It's uncomfortable and unprofessional. I would have given 5 stars if not for her. She seems to only talk to her friends too. I'm new in town, the staff made me feel welcome, and if she had just paid more attention to the rest of the customers, I'd have a more positive review. First and last time I will EVER go to this establishment! After an hour of waiting and watching tables and costumers being served who came in and had their order taken long after us, we were treated incredibly bad, despite us trying to understand they were busy and poorly staffed. Due to having to be somewhere an hour and a half after walking in, we attempted to have a calm discussion regarding the extremely poor service with the presumed owner who replied "I don't care." As we begrudgingly paid for our food I heard a women say, "Don't come back." The same man who said "I don't care.", said "This is bullshit.", When we considered not taking or paying for our food, due to not having time to eat it and the manner in which we were being treated. He also said "I don't know where you're from, but we don't do this shit in Barneveld." To that I must reply, I don't know of anywhere that treats customers with this level of disrespect! If you don't want to be accountable for your decisions to poorly staff your business and if you don't want to respect your costumers enough to listen to their concerns, no matter where their from, you should get the f*** out of the service business! Shenanigan's is my new "Cheers," as a new resident of Barnveld. It's just a short trip up a hill from home, and a great spot for just a drink or for beer and a burger or pizza. The menu is actually a little more extensive with various pub fare, and things like Mexican night Wednesdays, So far, I've only tried the house (Shenanigan's) burger and the pizza. The latter was a delightful surprise when I ordered the sausage/mushroom. It was chocked full of both, and a real deal for $12.00. The burger which is 1/4 pound with very crispy bacon, a special sauce and onion ring is $6.50. Fries are a la carte. Great burger. Service is fast except on weekends where you just have to be patient on Friday Fish Fry night, or Saturday family night when it's Cheers meets ChuckECheese. Have to say the kids are pretty well-behaved here. And the parents, too! It's right on the Military Ridge trail, too, in case you're biking through Barneveld. Friendly, staff, good pub fare makes for an all around good time. read more

Our burgers were excellent as were the waffle fries recommended by our waitress. We had quick service to order our drinks and then food. The atmosphere was great and I enjoyed the background music.... Old country at just the right volume. TV's all over so coming here for a game would be great. Can't wait to come back and try the fish fry! read more
