This is the most awesome RV park we've been in in many, many states. It is right across the street from the eagle nest lake state park. We arrived with a serious electrical problem, and Nathan - the owner/manager - promptly helped us by re-wiring temporarily, so we could have air-conditioning and electricity for our two days stay. He then called Albuquerque, New Mexico - which will be passing through after we left this location - and ordered us the electrical component to fix our RV. Because we would be arriving there on a Saturday, he also made arrangements with a mobile RV tech to install that part! Everything you want is at this location; from a wonderful restaurant, to laundry facilities, to conveniently located for the recreation facilities nearby, and a wonderful store. Nathan would not take a penny from us, for helping us!!! I cannot tell you how my wife and I, and dog, appreciated all he did for us, to make our stay just fabulously wonderful!!!! My wife and I arrived at Golden Eagle RV Campground at about 9:15 pm in the evening and I was pleasantly surprised to find a young man by the name of Nate still up waiting for me to arrive. He had me follow him to our site and then continued to help us get situated. I found this to be pretty much the standard as Nate was always helping someone in the campground. We fell in love with Golden Eagle the year before when we met Bruce and Bridgette (Nate's parents) who told us they would be passing the campground on to Nate and Lisa. Sometimes you worry when you get that kind of news. But we found that nothing has changed in the warm and professional atmosphere, and the changes that Nate HAS made to the facilities are awesome. It's a fun and unique place to visit. Always something to do with local vendors showing up on one day with their homemade wares of jewelry, fresh bread, jams and beef jerky and then some really great musicians and singers on another evening. (Take some time to look at their events page.) And don't miss the evening movies. Just prepare to enjoy the fun. One of the nice surprises for me was their Grill where you could enjoy a delicious breakfast, lunch and/or dinner. I started with breakfast and the sausage was the best I had ever eaten - and I'm a Cajun boy. I had a great cheeseburger for lunch and my wife had, she said, one of the best chicken salad sandwiches she had ever had - but were not able to stay for the beef brisket special for that week. Hopefully it will be back when we return. (I believe you can see a copy of their menu on their website, but the specials change weekly.) In any event, we had a great time and will be returning in a few weeks for the balloon launch. I can't really add anything to some of the other nice reviews that give you more detail about the facilities, but Nate and Lisa were great and always accommodating - just good people and a joy to be around. My husband and I have been on a two week camping trip with our travel trailer and we have to say this has been one of the best RV parks we have stayed in! The staff is super friendly and a wealth of information about the surrounding area. They had live music the first night of our stay and everyone made us feel right a home. We have stayed at this RV Park for the last couple of years and let me tell you this place is GREAT!!! The people who run it are SUPERB and all around just good people who will do anything they can to accommodate their guests. The facility itself is awesome and they have showers with bathrooms and a fish cleaning station. The Park is also quiet and relaxing, clean and is literally 5 minutes or less from Eagle Nest Lake. We were there on a weekend and the park had this HUGE fire pit which they lit a fire in and they also had a guy set up a small amplifier and he played guitar music for the guests in a nice relaxing atmosphere. Our experience there was exceptional. We will be staying there again and hopefully for years to come. If you are looking for a GREAT RV Park to stay at this place is the one for you. read more

This an above average Rv park. It has all the amenities you could ask for. It also has on-site grill with breakfast and dinner. Very good breakfast and good pizza. They have a store with supplies and a farmer's market on Friday. They offer movie night and karaoke. The owner Nathan and his wife are excellent hosts. Would definitely stay here a again. read more

What can we say except EVERYONE who works here goes out to their way to see that their stay is amazing. We stayed several nights in one of their park models. Turn-key doesn't begin to describe it. If you do find you need anything mention it at the store. It's provided before you know it. RV'rs are guided to AND into their spots! Locals eat in the grill so you know the food is good. We tried several different menu items & enjoyed them all. Perfect location to explore northern NM. Angel Fire, Enchanted Circle, Taos & Cimarron Canyon are all very convenient. Look for day excursions from the RV Park. The lake is at your door front. Elk & other wildlife are in abundance. We were fortunate to have rain & thunder showers in the afternoon. We have spent three months here at the Golden Eagle RV Park and have loved it. The scenery is beautiful and this Park provides activities for those who want to participate. The staff is exceptionally friendly and go out of their way to help the visitors. The location is great as you can take day excursions and be close enough to be back by evening. The store in the Park carries groceries, ice, RV supplies and american native jewelry. The "Chuckwagon" provides excellent food for a modest price. I ate here for the first time on July 4th. I live in Angel Fire and work 9 miles from Eagle Nest, and have wondered how on earth I've missed this place. I had one of the best green chile cheeseburgers I've ever tasted - and was impressed enough to go back the next day. This time I got a cheese quesadilla, with green chiles,of course - and wished I had ordered more because it was delicious! This place is truly a "best kept secret" and that needs to change! The three best things about this park: the owners and staff, who treated everyone very, very well; being in the mountains with lots of beautiful scenery; it's a small town, and that's where we like to be. They were having wi-fi problems while we were there, although I have to admit that we use more than the average person. We were there from late April through May, had a few snow storms, which were absolutely beautiful. Snow on everything and particularly on the mountains. I love it. read more
