I enjoyed my appointment at Serenity. I received a pedicure on what was probably the most beautiful fall day in New Orleans. They had the backdoor opened allowing for a nice breeze to blow through. I think I enjoyed my visit more because of the ambiance. I called an hour before arriving to make sure they could fit me in. When I arrived, I discovered this place has a surprisingly large parking area but you'll be sure to find parking on Tchoup or the side street as it is on a corner. They quickly showed me where to select my polish and sat me in a pedicure chair. I waited about 12 minutes before someone sat down in front of me. Could've been quicker as I called ahead but hey. The weather was too nice to worry. Once Phat (manicurist name) began on my feet, I felt all my worries leave my toes. I recently spent days moving so my feet needed some TLC. She gave me the most amazing foot massage and that was standard - no extra cost. It's only been a few days, but if this polish stays, I will certainly return. read more

The guy who did my dip nails and gel pedicure did a very sloppy job. He has dip residue all over my fingers, he barely buffed or filed. The dip I had applied yesterday is already peeling off. My toes look like my 3 year old niece painted them. He didn't completely paint my toes. My girlfriend had her nails done by the girl (and the girl did an awesome job). I got a regular manicure at Serenity Nail Spa, using two different OPI colors and it's FANTASTIC! My manicurist, Tu (though her name tag read Julie), was phenomenal! I don't like squared off nails. In fact, I don't even like most rounded manicures on my long nails because the nails end up the same width all the way up to the tip, creating something pretty phallic. As much as I'd explained that I want the tips tapered and pointed in many, many other establishments in NOLA (Ritz Carlton, Guerlain, Atlantis Spa, Rocket Science, The Retreat), I never really got what I wanted. But Tu delivered. Finally, someone who can file nails! Tu's skills went beyond filing though. The polish looks absolutely exquisite. All the way down to the cuticle on the sides and the bottom in a perfect, straight line, something that I've also found hard to get at other NOLA salons. She was even happy to redo two fingers I botched by prematurely reaching into my bag. She also gave one hell of a hand and lower arm massage. The salon itself was also an awesome surprise. The atmosphere is really beautiful and relaxing, quiet with soft music and a waterfall. Also, everything is absolutely immaculate. I went to Serenity based on a recommendation and I didn't have any idea what to expect in terms of price. So, when she told me my total was only $18, I nearly fell over. Given the prices I've paid at other places for inferior service and atmosphere, I was floored. With these prices, I will definitely get manicures more often. As others have mentioned here, they do take credit cards, but tips are cash only. It's really no big deal though because there's an ATM at The Whitney two blocks away. It took all of five minutes to shoot down there, grab some cash, and return with a tip. You also don't need an appointment. I just showed up and didn't have to wait at all, but it's worth noting that that was on a Tuesday afternoon. read more

I got a great pedicure but the lady across from me did not wear a mask throughout. I was very upset but didn't say anything as it is up to the manager and nail technicians to inform her. When i left i asked the person who checked me out if a mask is required and she said yes, of course. I told her about the incident and she said ok, thank you and that was it. I have been a customer here for 3 years or more and will not return until they can keep people safe. I am very disappointed !!! read more

I've never had to wait to get a spa chair, their color selection is great, the staff is super friendly, their prices are the most reasonable in Uptown, and THEY HAVE A PARKING LOT. I was really disappointed with the service I received here. The pedicure was really bad. Granted it was a Friday and they were really busy but they should've just given an honest wait time and not rushed. The experience was not relaxing and the message portion was more like having lotion rubbed in. Even though I had been asked if I wanted my toe nails cut and responded yes they weren't cut. The paint job was sloppy and none of my calluses had been removed. Maybe it's different on week days but my experience on a Friday afternoon really turned me off and I will not return. read more

So this place does ok pedicures. I don't leave wow'd, but I leave satisfied. My recent visit I left feeling humiliated. My tech asked if i would like a scrub added on to my pedicure. I said "yes," and requested peppermint. I relaxed (some time passed), and noticed we were at the end of services once she was putting you shoes on. I casually ask "what happened to the peppermint?" I was looking forward to this part, but ultimately didn't want to be charge for something I did not receive. She smiled and the tech next to us speaks for her and says "do you want a peppermint or something, what are you saying?" What?? I mention I was expecting the peppermint scrub as a part of the of my services. The tech next to us says "oh, well it's over now, you can go." Brushed me off LOUDLY and dismissed me. I didn't mention it earlier in the services because I was getting gel polish and I know sometimes they will do this after applying polish- same with paraffin. I get to my car after paying and realized I didn't tip. I walk back in and they are talking yo me from the other room like I'm a nuisance "what do you want?!" Incredibly rude and embarrassing. I usually go to serenity as they are convenient and good. I had a bad experience on Friday and will not go back. The manicurist did not apply cream and do the normal hand massage and when she said I was done I told here she had missed that part of the manicure. She said no she didn't and left to take my money!!! I paid her (no tip) and left. When I got to the car, I noticed a broken nail and other problems. I've tried a few places that are more conveniently located and comparably priced ($26 for a pedicure) around the city, but I always return to Serenity. I've had maybe 1 or 2 less-than-perfect pedicures there, but the service has far more often exceeded my expectations. It is quiet and calm with none of the grating banter often found in walk-in nail salons. All of the tools come out of sealed autoclave packets and the employees are friendly, efficient, and professional. Credit cards are accepted, but tips are cash-only. read more

This place was terrible...clean but not much else to offer. Received the most horrible pedicure and asked for a different person. Didn't happen. It made me extremely uncomfortable and when I made one of the managers aware of this she began raising her voice! Completely embarrassed I just paid and left. Pedicure actually worsened my feet's appearance. I also added the hot stones to my service ...a waste because no massage accompanied the service. The stones were literally passed up and down my legs. Several ladies I work with love this salon but I didn't see why. This was my first visit and maybe if I become a regular I'd begin to like it. I am not the type of person that wants my mani/pedi to be fast (if I'm in a hurry I just schedule/request a polish change). I made an appointment for the Friday afternoon before Mardi Gras so I expected it to be crowded. I was in and out, after a full mani, a spa pedi and time to dry, in less than 1 hour. I was out of my pedi chair before both people beside me, who were there before I got started. They do a good job and most of the technicians are meticulous and neat. I did try getting a design done on my nail once. I just got a manicure here the other day and it looked like I painted my own nails. They did not cut my cuticles and there was nail polish all over my fingers. The whole process only took 10 minutes, it was as if she had a timer set and needed to be done in 10. The ladies that work there are very rude and bossy. I went in with a gift card for a mani/pedi, but I asked for a gel manicure so I expected there to be a price difference I would have to cover....it was an extra $17 for gel, which I thought was a little high. Then I had to leave, go to an ATM down the street, and come back to bring a tip, because they only accept cash tips. My pedicure was perfect, literally one of the best I've had, but my manicure looks like I could have done it better myself. The technician did a great job with cutting/shaping my nails and removing the cuticles, but the actual paint job was really sub-par. She didn't paint the whole nail; the tips are showing a considerable amount, and she also did not paint the sides of my nails at all. I used to go to this place whenever I had my nails done and I LOVED it. But last night was a really bad scene. The place has not been kept up and is nasty. So was my mani-pedi. I have jagged edges all over my nails that are snagging on my silk dress this morning. There is polish smeared about my baby toe! The man used to be so nice when I arrived.
