Was so happy to learn that the rumor of their closing was incorrect. The BEST egg rolls anywhere in this area and the egg drop soup is sublime. Also the sweet n sour chicken is large in portions and large on taste. Like very much that their s&s is not in a sauce but it's on the side. The lunch crowd packs the place. The seating is limited to about 12 small tables. The food is good, but some dishes are prepared a little differently than what you have probably experienced in Chinese food. We had the General Tso's chicken and orange chicken. What is different are the sauces. Most Chinese restaurants serve a heavy syrupy, oily sauce with these dishes. Not here. It is more like a broth. It tastes good and is very light. My General Tso's chicken had way too much batter on it. That didn't work to well with the sauce. It just soaked up and made the over breaded chicken soggy. Also they do use a lot of red peppers in the dish so, if you don't like it hot you better tell them when you order. (I like it hot.) It did taste good though and I like the lighter sauce. The orange chicken had the same light sauce, but the breading on the chicken is different and better. It was lighter and crispier. It was like the texture on a fried egg roll. It tasted good too. They have a good variety of items on their menu. There was a curry dish served that smelled and looked fantastic. The place does not have a buffet. The service is a little slow. I ordered the sweet and sour chicken dinner, I wasn't expecting the chicken to be made this way.. The breading they used on this chicken is awful. Taste like they cooked it in dirty grease. Not appetizing at all.. the rice is even worse... It stinks like a very bad burnt pan and it taste like dirt. I'm really not trying to be mean I wanted to give it a try despite how it smelt. One day I decided to look at Yelp reviews and decided I had to try it! We came in, saw how tiny the dining area is and opted for takeout. It was Friday night so not sure if it's always a 30 minute wait for takeout or not, but it was perfect for us because we had an errand to run. She even said she would call us when it's ready which is great so the food doesn't sit cold. If you are in a hurry, call ahead so you don't have to sit and wait too long. This place was busy, which is always a good sign. Now to the food; the quality of ingredients is fantastic. It is definitely above average for takeout Chinese food. Not greasy, good quality meat, fresh vegetables and good portions. The prices are a little higher than average, but it reflects in quality of ingredients used. While the flavor is not the best I've ever had, it's good and I am very happy to have found what will now be our go-to neighborhood Chinese take out! read more

My husband and I love to drive for food. So when he seen it was rated high we thought we would try it. This is a 3 hour round trip for us. I don't might paying higher prices for food if it's good but it was not good at all. No flavor in the rice, noodles was dry, lacked flavor on everything, chicken was boiled to death. Full of veggies, seasoned ground beef, spices rolled up in wonton skin and deep fried. Ask for some orange sauce to sip them in. I love their orange chicken, well any of their fried chicken dishes, like sesame chicken. Their chicken is strips of lightly battered white chicken (no weird dark meat pieces) so you eat the chicken and not a mouthful of batter. Their orange sauce is thick, orange, and tasty!! He wraps up the items well so there's no chance of the sauce leaking into your other containers. I like their plain fried rice over their steamed rice. I can't remember this place never being in Tulsa. The food is good and the garlic fried chicken is off the hook. Unlike other all you can eat buffets where you serve yourself, Golden Gate has waiter service where you request specific items. The food is always good, the staff is extremely friendly, and the price is on point. There's a tip case on the tables or nailed to the walls, because the waiter works for tips only. I don't know if that's his motivation, or if the waiter is just that good but, either way the waiter is always making sure diners are happy. I had take out on my last visit, and ordered the lunch special. It was more food than I could eat in one sitting and for 5.99 you can't ask for a better bargain. The restaurant only seats about 30 people tops, and everyone really seems to enjoy the food, i.e. smiling and empty plates waiting to be refilled to enjoy more deliciousness. My only complaints are, they only take Mastercard and Visa, and after being open since the dawn of time, the walls and ceiling need a good steam cleaning. Since I am on the road a bunch for work I tend to rely on Yelp and hotel staff for recommendations on where to eat. This place is no exception. It was a cold, rainy night but I really wanted some good Chinese food and the desk clerk at my hotel and Yelp both sent me to the same place that was well worth the 15 minute drive. After a drive and a few wrong turns I finally found this gem tucked into its hole in the wall strip center. With only 15 tables this place has got to have great food to stay around for the years that others claim that it has been around. I sat down and looked at the menu and was greeted by one of the owners who quickly made some suggestions and rapidly got to know me and what I might like to eat. I tried the Dinner special and some egg drop soup. The soup was a thick, well flavored chicken stock with plenty of egg ribbons throughout. It was just what was needed to take the edge off of a cold rainy night. They even offered me more soup to warm up after my first bowl. It was also worthy of all the praise it seems to get from the local papers and other Yelpers. The dinner special was a collage of several different items that showcased some of the different items that they have to offer. Clean place with nice people. We had the buffet. Choice of soup was egg drop and chicken and rice. They were both hot and good, chick and rice best. They bring you a plate with food, if you want more, they bring another plate. I would describe the buffet as home cooking, Chinese style. There were noodles, rice, chicken and veggies, fried chicken finger, egg roll, sweet and sour pork, what mighty have been crab Rangoon. Nothing grabbed me as "Chinese" food, but it was hot and good. The buffet is an excellent value and you will not leave hungry. Next time, I will order a specific "Chinese" dish. I liked the small business atmosphere, they knew many of the people that came in.
