    BEWARE!

Thought I'd give this place a try... huge mistake. Came 2 hours before they closed and they acted like I was causing an inconvenience by walking in. The hostess then tried to sit me at a DIRTY table, in which there were two other workers literally mopping the floors, and the place stinking cleaning products. I asked if I could sit somewhere else (the place is literally empty mind you) and they acted like I was asking for VIP service. Food was poor quality, made me feel sick as soon as I started to get up from the table to leave. Side note.... there was a mom with her baby not eating talking loudly on the phone behind me. The bathrooms smell like a Vegas casino and there was no music being played. If you enjoy a sad looking buffet like a cliche out of a movie, go try this place.

Roach on the wall in dining area next to table.

Roaches crawling on walls and table when we sat down with our plate of food. Another visit the waitress threw an out right temper tantrum screaming her tip ($6 at lunch) was horrible for waiting on four people. All the while she was taking our food m/plates before we were done eating. Constantly coming to our table in excess filling water when not needed and taking plates to rush us out. She was mad because she was wrong about a "group" coupon claimed it was only for one person and when she asked the manager about it her told her he was wrong. From that point she treated up terribly. When angered over the tip she threw it on the table. We complained and manager didn't seem to care. We have never been back and never will.

We haven't been there in maybe two months and this time when we walked in it looked all refreshed like someone had come in and redid their tables and they had new menus and it looked really nice. However, what was lacking was the quality of the service and the food. I remember feeling like I was at someone's house because it was very comfortable and family feeling especially by the wait staff this time we walked in and instead of saying pick where you want to sit like they used to some girl sat us over on a side of the room. OK no problem then they handed us these new menus and there was no soup. Usually they give you free soup then some other lady came over with the soup and put it on the table then they took our order and the waitress seemed like we were bothering her. They brought out the food. The quality of the food went down big time. My husband always orders the chicken yakisoba so does my daughter, my daughter also ordered a sushi roll. I ordered hibachi steak and instead of rice I wanted noodles. My husband and daughter said that their food didn't taste like it used to and my hibachi steak (now mind you I had a hibachi steak at a different Japanese restaurant in Georgia so I'm thinking it's going to taste the same.) She even asked me how I wanted my steak cooked and I said, medium rare. I got little squares of very overcooked pieces of meat that looked like they went to the store and bought some stew beef (at the other Japanese restaurant that we went to it was actually filet mignon.) The steak was hard and rubbery at the other restaurant. It was beautifully cooked. Also, my noodles tasted like they were drenched in teriyaki sauce, which I can't stand. Everything was too sweet and I will probably not ever go back there now.

We ordered a sushi roll as an appetizer -- simple enough. But it never came. Halfway through our meal, we realized our server had disappeared, and we finally had to flag down a different waitress. Only then did we learn the order had never even been placed. Even after that, it took more than 20 minutes and still no sushi roll. By the time it finally showed up, we were so fed up we just had it boxed to take home. And here's the kicker: it wasn't even a busy night. Well over half the tables were vacant. There was absolutely no excuse for such inattentive, careless service. A restaurant's reputation rests as much on service as on food. Ichiban may still be known as a Bowling Green favorite, but if they keep operating this way, that reputation won't last. Right now, they're failing their customers in a big way.

I really wanted to like this place, but honestly, I left feeling a little disappointed…read more I am not sure but, I believe this restaurant has been around since around 2006, and I really hope the owner will consider making some improvements. There are several things that stood out during our visit. First, cleanliness was a concern. When I went to the men's restroom, there was a significant amount of urine on the floor around the urinal. Unfortunately, it made me question how much attention is being paid to cleanliness in general. There were also quite a few flies flying around while we were eating, which definitely affected our dining experience. Our server seemed fairly young, so I don't want to blame her personally. However, there were several basic things we had to ask for. When our sushi roll was brought out, we had to ask for the small dishes normally used for soy sauce and wasabi. We also had to ask for a spoon for the bibimbap, and the spoon that was brought was more like a small soup spoon. We also had to wait and wonder when our water would be refilled rather than having it checked on regularly. The bulgogi was another disappointment. As you can see in my photo, there were a lot more vegetables than meat, and the pieces of beef were quite small. When people order bulgogi, I think they are generally expecting a reasonable amount of meat. I believe this could definitely be improved. Also, at most Korean restaurants, steamed rice is included with bulgogi, but here we had to order it separately. Thankfully, there was no extra charge for the steamed rice. I consider these points areas for improvement, rather than reasons to give the restaurant a low rating. Unfortunately, it doesn't seem like the owner pays much attention to the reviews on Google or Yelp, which is a shame. I really hope they will take the time to look at some of the lower-rated reviews and see what customers are saying. There may be some valuable feedback there. So why am I still giving 5 stars? The owner was very friendly, and I really appreciated that. Also, the servers at the Hibachi table next to us did an amazing birthday celebration performance. They were singing and playing along with such great energy that it almost felt like watching a marching band. That was definitely one of the highlights of our visit! Overall, I hope the owner takes this review in the spirit in which it is intended. There is a lot of potential here, but cleanliness, service details, and food portions could definitely be improved. For Korean visitors who are specifically looking for good Korean food, I personally would not recommend ordering the Korean dishes here.

As a result, it feels like the lettuce was drowning in dressing to try to cover up the older lettuce pieces. I didn't enjoy the salad because of this, but everything else was really good.

This is again one of the best food I've ever had in my life. I lived in Tennessee and I never miss stopping by when I visit Bowling Green, Kentucky. It is my home and I will never choose any other hibachi place other than this one. I recommend you go because if you don't, you were going to regret it. Also, they have the best Yum Yum sauce. I didn't know what she meant so I said I want sit over here by the bar. I didn't want to sit where they cook right in front of you and throw food at you. Anyway, we sat down and a waitress immediately came to our table to take a drink order. I asked if they had sweet and low and she affirmed yes so I got an unsweetened iced tea with lemon. My husband got a Sprite and my daughter got a Coke zero. She came back a bit later with our drinks and informed me that they did not have any sweet low in the whole restaurant and there was no lemon in my iced tea or with my iced tea. We weren't sure what we liked and the girl said the hibachi plates are really really good with the Yum Yum sauce. It's delicious. So my husband and I did the two for $50 and we got the hibachi steak and chicken which came with rice cooked vegetables, and noodle . My daughter got shrimp and scallops with asparagus on the side. My husband and my dinner came with soup and salad, and my daughters came with a huge salad. The waitress came back with my lemon for my drink and brought over our salads and soup. She then brought out my daughter salad. I had barely finished my soup and just started eating my salad when our entrées came out. I believe they came out way too fast, which is why there's a three star rating because I don't like dinners like that. You should let people have a chance to eat their soup and salad and then bring the food out. My husband never even touched his salad. In my opinion, the plates had too much food on them. They tasted OK. I don't think I would go back there for that kind of food. As you look at the pictures, you'll see what I mean. I sort of wish I would've got the bento box. My daughter's food looked way better. I wish I would've got that. The Yum Yum sauce? It was all right. At the end of the meal, my daughter asked us if she could have a piece of cheesecake and we said yes to go because we wanted to go home and the lady brought it out wrapped and when you see the picture of it that's slight sliver of cheesecake cost $10.. Our entire bill came to $134.05 . This isn't the kind of place. I don't think I would frequent. In other words, I wasn't impressed by the food, the service, or the ambience. Maybe a nice place to go have a drink as it was really dead and quiet by the bar.
