We went for another anniversary dinner and as usual were so blown away by the food! It hits on all the aspects....taste, presentation, and quality. Our server Lillian(i think) provided us with phenomenal service and was one of the best to date! As always the ambiance for us is perfect. If you want a higher caliber steak house experience without having to drive to Nashville....you should try this one! We love this place!

On a stormy Saturday evening we were passing through BG and stopped for dinner. Highly recommended, we had to search for the front doors to the establishment. We parked in the back, near the commerce building. A beautiful interior, comfortable seating, nice music playing to relax to. I ordered a cocktail, hooked on a feeling was the name, it was delicious. My husband and I had not eaten all day, we shared a wedge salad. Which is big enough for 2-4 people. I had French onion soup, which I would skip next time. It wasn't bad, just not worth the expense or room in my stomach when there are better things to eat. My husband was intrigued by the carrots, we shared some and they are very unique. Sweet, savory, spicy, all the flavors melt in your mouth. The elk was tender, while the steak had a nice crust and was cooked to order. The Brussels were cooked perfectly, though I would have liked a drizzle of some kind of sauce or oil. The dessert was our favorite part. We both love bread pudding and this was the best version we have had in Kentucky. Thank you for a great evening!

Visited here to take our kids out for dinner. Inside has very nice decor! The food was really good and the choices were amazing! The New York strip our son ordered came out overcooked but the staff was quick to re fire and comped a dessert for us all to share! Truffle fries were a hit!

In town for our daughter's college volleyball tournament. Hickory&Oak was recommended... we absolutely loved it!! One of my top steakhouses I would say..of all time. Oysters Rockefeller appetizer may have been the best oysters I've ever had! These were Alabama coast oysters and being from Alabama and eating oysters in Kentucky I was skeptical... but absolute deliciousness were these oysters! Perfection. ‍ We followed with a wedge salad. Large enough to split for 2-3 people. The bacon on this was TOP bacon. The lettuce & cucumbers were COLD &. Crisp. The dressing- scrumptious. I had filet mignon. Hubby had ribeye. Both perfectly cooked with a side of steak fries that were out of this world! Our server was top notch! So descriptive & personable. The atmosphere & decor were superb without being stuffy. Casual yet elevated. Absolutely we will eat here every time we come to Bowling Green KY!

The service is always good. I normally get the salmon. It wasn't on the list this time. I ordered outside my comfort and got the pork chop. It came out in two big chunks of meat on top of jalapeños fried cornbread (very good) and a red sauce. The red sauce and chunks of meat is not a do over for me. I took the pork home. I can not eat meat in chunks it was not appetizing. It tasted ok a little dry.

Pleasantly surprised with my experience here. Being from Nashville where we have a ton of great food, I wasn't expecting much from a steak house in bowling green to be honest. We went for my friend's birthday and I really enjoyed my dinner! The ambiance was nice with the very unique decor inside that makes you feel like you're on an adventure with the hobbits (lots of wood with greenery accents). The service was nice a friendly and they even helped coordinate a proposal at the table next to us while we were there (she said yes, followed by a round of applause). See my take on the food below. Pro tip: make sure you bring a jacket! It's pretty cold in there and they have to keep it that way due to the nature of the building they use. -Wedge salad: huge! There must have been a pound of bacon just on top. It was very good. -bacon cornbread - excellent -8oz filet - cooked perfectly -blackened garlic butter - terrible; comes out cold and the steak doesn't need it; don't waste $5 -spicy butter (can't remember which one but it's the spicy one) - that butter was great! Wished it had gotten that one instead of the other -loaded mashed potatoes - excellent, although not much topping; I think I would get the regular if I went again -Brussel sprouts - good but not great compared to everything else -blueberry parfait - excellent -brownie with cherry ice cream - so good and very impressive; would definitely recommend 2 scoops of ice cream though because it's so rich (maybe one on top and one on the side) Overall great experience! I would definitely go back if I am in the area again.

    Steak and whipped potatoes

I was in town from Miami and was looking for a good steakhouse and this Hickory & Oak restaurant was recommended. I had a wedge salad with a boneless ribeye. Steak was seasoned and cooked to perfection. Sides were awesome as well whipped potatoes and Brussels sprouts. Restaurant has a good vibe in downtown area close to the University. Great meal and atmosphere without being gouged in price like Miami. Service was attentive and knowledgeable. Bourbon selection was excellent as well if you are a bourbon connoisseur.

In town for work. Came here at the recommendation of a local. Was not disappointed! Dined alone so hard to get all I wanted to try. Got the focaccia bread based on previous pics - delicious!!! Ordered the rainbow trout and was pleased - nice preparation and flavors. Green bean almondine was delicious and buttery. Definitely impressed by the bourbon selection! Very nice barrel pick old fashioned and finished with a pour of Weller Full Proof. Craig was excellent - friendly and attentive with good recommendations, he was training Reece who also was super nice. Sat outside on the patio with excellent weather and a good view. The music was nice and not too loud. Would definitely recommend and am very glad I stopped in. Would definitely come back next time I'm in Bowling Green!!

    Argentinian steak
    Shawn P.

This place was recommended to me, and in fairness it was the best meal I had in Bowling Green. The menu was interesting and made choosing something difficult. I went with the Argentinian steak and wasn't disappointed. Desserts were also delicious. Prices aren't cheap but dishes are huge and well worth it. I ate at the bar area. Service was friendly if not very attentive. They have bourbon galore if you're into that. Reservations are likely a must so plan ahead. Park on the street or in the nearby park. They have an indoor dining area, bar, and covered patio area.

Tasted great but sooooo dry/over - grilled.

100% would recommend this restaurant!!!!…read more we arrived right at 5pm when they open back up for the day. firstly the atmosphere and customer service is top tier. everyone is super attentive and welcoming. we started off with mixed drinks, with a very wide selection, each drink we tried was perfectly mixed and balanced. we definitely would recommend the french martini and vette city. as for appetizers, we tried the fried pickles and jalapeños. the batter was light but crunchy and flavorful and the house made ranch paired perfectly with them. main courses i would 1000% recommend the chicken rosa. such a delicious dish with a creamy mash potatoes side and perfectly seasoned and sautéed fresh vegetable side. the lemon caper sauce paired with the chicken was stunning. chicken was cooked perfectly and still very juicy. the basil pasta dish was al dente with a rich, herby, and creamy sauce. the crème brûlée was the most delicious dessert to end the meal with a perfectly crunchy sugar top not too charred and the crème part was flavored very nicely with a good vanilla taste. 5/5 WOULD RECOMMEND

We had a hard time deciding between the two, and agreed to split them when they arrived. It's hard to pick a favorite because they were both so good! The combination of flavors on the Fig & Brie was delicious and the egg on the KY Sunrise was divine! You can't go wrong with either of them. We both had sweet potato fries with a side of the smoky aioli for dipping. They were perfectly cooked, which is hard to do. Often sweet potato fries are either burnt or undercooked, but not these! So glad we found this gem on our short stay!

We have eaten here several times and it is usually our stop on the way to Nashville…read more Our first clue should have been a near empty parking lot at lunch time. We were greeted by the hostess and told we could sit whenever we wanted and we chose the bar. The bartender got us a couple waters while we looked at the menu. After several minutes she came back and we asked for chips and salsa. Several more minutes passed before she came back and we placed our order for food. Not a complicated lunch. I ordered Chicken Tinga Tacos and my wife ordered the Chicken Chile Relleno. We waited about 20 minutes, food hadn't arrived, we had eaten all the Chips and Salsa and the bartender was ignoring us. We could see the kitchen and it didn't look like the cooks were even working. Not sure how you could not take care of probably a total of 10 people during lunch. We told the bartender and manager we were leaving because we hadn't gotten our food and to cancel our order. What has happened to this place? Has it changed ownership? We had been avoiding it like the plague since then, because why would I want to give my money to some jerk off who thinks we're "inbreds" (his words, you can look it up). All that said, we were talking to some friends the other day and they said we should try it again because the seafood selection was fantastic, soooooo we decided to hit it up for our anniversary. We got the oysters, and they were some small guys but out waiter Eli (ask for him) said that they were easy coast even though they typically get west coast. It was nice to have a knowledgeable wait staff that was super friendly and happy to talk through anything with us that we had questions on. We got the steak and sea bass and both were great! Creamed spinach and baked potato as sides were a good call as well. We took some friends with us and one of them got the shrimp and grits, and those grits were LEGIT. Soooooo, if you're looking for a fine dining experience in Bowling Green you could really either do Tony's or Hickory & Oak. In my opinion, Hickory & Oak gets my vote because Josh is one of us and I doubt I'll ever read any articles about him ripping off his employees or calling Kentuckians names, but this experience was so good at Tony's that I might swallow my pride here and there and stop in every once in a while for a delicious steak or some really great bourbon and wine.
