I got the two-piece Chicken and fries with a piece of fish. The chicken lacked seasoning. I don't feel the chicken was fresh before being fried. The fish was not edible. The chicken had zero seasoning, completely flavorless from the meat to the breading. Had tp dip it in gravy, hot sauce or ketchup to make it edible. My boyfriend said it was the worst chicken he's ever had and I'm inclined to agree. I don't know if they were off their game or forgot to put the seasoning in, but I'm not sure I can bring myself to give it another shot. Omg. Why have I not tried this place sooner!!! I've always passed up this place on my way to grandmas and man I tell you I had a craving for chicken today and I said let's try golden nugget out! And omg I'm glad I did another one of San Antonio's hidden gems! The chicken(not pictured I tore it up lmao) was amazing!! The breading had some lemon pepper seasoning or chicken seasoning on it and omg!! It was delicious it comes with bread and a jalapeño,fries and omg brown gravy a tiny portion but my god it completes the whole meal! I definitely recommend this to people who are tired of KFC and Bland Churches Chicken! The owner is a really nice guy says he's been here for 48 Years!!! Come support this man!!! Very good fried chicken. I hesitated to try this place, (if you KNOW this side of town, you'll understand why), however, don't judge a book by its cover. Chicken is delicious, he uses a lemon pepper seasoning on the chicken, it's just delicious. Something so simple, but yet, delicious. His fryers get emptied every day!! That is just awesome. Loved the thick crinkle cut fries, and he gives you jalapeños and sodas with a family order. His pricing in on point as well. Just a great little hole in the wall I'm glad I tried. Customer service is a nightmare. Prices are never honered and change on the daily basis even if you order the same thing everytime you eat at Golden Nugget. Don't even bother asking for a receipt because you will get threats by the owner himself especially if they know they shorten you money on your change back. Plus the food isn't all that good. The fish is alsome! The price is just right. My kids will not eat fish only if it's from the golden nugget! I always order the 20 pc. fish! yummy! I whent this passed friday for Lint and omg so busy! i witnessed a fat lady& her what looked like a just released prisoner giving a worker a hard time. I just remember the lady pushing costumers aside to get to the small window u order from. She was yelling about her order taking too long. You would think people have manners!....she cussed at this young lady and stormed away. She clearly had no respect and jus missed out on the best fish. She knows were the best fish is because she was there for lint. I feelt bad for the young lady and tipped her because she looked like she was working really hard and then to take that from that lowlife. I mean what was that fat lady ganna pay with foodstamps!
