WOW! My husband brought this home after work. I was so surprised at how good it was. The breading alone on the chicken tenders and pickles were amazing. The tenders are on the smaller side. I was pretty disappointed with my experience here. The chicken tenders were small, overly salty and seemed to be mostly breading with very little actual chicken. I went through the drive-thru where I waited 20 minutes. The poor lady was tending the drive-thru, dining room, cashier, and putting orders together. With all that, she was still very pleasant and apologetic. The 2-piece combo was reasonably priced, but the sides were WAY overpriced. It's Open! Finally! Last week, I happed to see the sign that said Soft Opening so stopped in Fri 20 Jun with my Yelpy friend who stopped over for an afternoon visit. When she mentioned she was hungry, I asked if she wanted to try chicken. Let's go to Honey's! The owner agreed to let me taste Cole slaw and Mac & Cheese as I shared I'm really picky about both. This reviewer says both are really good. Although I opted for fried okra on this day which is freshly made per order. Okra was fantastic! Bathrooms super clean as well. We had chicken, tenders, and a chicken sandwich. All rated delicious. The chicken was so juicy and flavorful. The chicken breasts were some of the juiciest I have had for fried chicken. And large. Same with the legs and thighs. My 10 year old said the tenders were some of the best he has had. And this is a kid who eats tenders at every restaurant. My older son also enjoyed the chicken sandwich. Waffle fries fried perfect. And the biscuit is heaven. Just wish they were bigger. The only issue was the sweet tea. It's flat out terrible. All three of us switched to something else. The lemonade was good. Fruit punch also fine. Now that Honey's Chicken Joint is finally open we decided to stop in and give them a try. Can't say I'm not disappointed. I've waited for quite some time for this place to open after driving past it regularly. I really wanted to like this place and give it a 5 star review but unfortunately it didn't meet the mark for me. Pricing is decent; the staff and service are what you would expect; but the food itself falls short for me. I want to be clear, it is in now way terrible or awful. It is a SOFT opening for this first week so it's open until five. 11-5. We like that it has a variety of food to choose from. I ordered a 6 piece chicken tender combo with a lemonade. The lemonade is delicious! Not too sweet and not too tart. I have the fried okra as the side and the combo comes with a biscuit. It came up to $11.99. My husband ordered the 8 piece mixed bone in. Best Fried chicken in the city! That is bold but they are getting it done right. I ordered a 3 piece, bone in regular meal with a side of fried okra. They have blues playing on the sound system, great tunes, very clean, and a great place to relax. They brought it to the table. The chicken is moist, even the white meat. Not too seasoned, just right to add flavor. The crust is crisp and golden brown. The okra was battered and fried on site, delicious. At the counter, my tab was $14.23, gave the lady $20.23 and she gave me back $5.77, I told her I had given her the change and she looked confused so I just let it go, was not going to complain for 23 cents, I saw them put my order into the basket and she said they will bring it to my table, I always set the timer just to see how long service takes, 15 minutes later I walk up to the counter, still see that basket sitting by the chicken, I tell here Im waiting for my order and she goes, Oh here it is, The chicken was ok, nothing special, not delicious just ok, skin was soggy not crispy, the bisquit was very small but lacked flavor, the mac & cheese was dry but Im not a mac & cheese guy so maybe this is the way its suppose to be. My friend was nice enough to treat me to Honey's Chicken at his place. It was my first time trying their food. I was very disappointed. The chicken was very dark and not that flavorful. The chicken was very salty. Very salty! The sides were nothing to yell about. They were just okay. We had the mashed potatoes with gravy,mac and cheese and coleslaw. I can't recommend this place to anyone unless you're working hard to raise your blood pressure. Save your money and eat at better quality places when you're hungry for fried chicken. Note that they have only "soft opened" at this point; there hasn't been an official grand opening, but my daughter and I swung by to check it out. Casual but not to the point of being divey, and I can see it getting a lot busier and word of mouth spreads because the chicken was fantastic! Think Cane's but better. The chicken was tender, juicy, and breaded just right. The waffle fries were pleasant. Could have used a little more seasoning, but that's just my taste. Not knocking the fries! They had a nice selection of dipping sauces, and self-serve ketchup, Hot Honey, and comeback sauce. Finally a chicken place that isn't stingy with their comeback sauce! The honey butter biscuits were bite sized little treats. Green beans could have used a little something extra as they were a little bland, but I made do with the on-hand salt and pepper. They allow you to choose your side for the combo. It took about 5 minutes to bring my order and that's good time. They provide variety of sauces but I went with no sauce just to see how good it tasted without it. The chicken is good and the breast was tender and if it wasn't I'd be an unhappy person. Once they brought me the fresh chicken, I couldn't even take a bite because it was extremely salty! Like unbearably salty, there's no way anyone could eat that and enjoy it due to the amount of salt. I even took the skin off and it was still salty. I honestly don't understand the hype and don't ever plan on coming back here again. I was better off going to Gus's. The only good thing I had were the biscuits which were extremely tiny so I'm glad I ordered 2. Other than that, please skip this place. You will be disappointed. Flavorful, crunchy, not greasy at all and that hot honey/comeback sauce is A-1 since day 1 and I do recommend going spicy chicken/tenders as their seasoning had the right amount of kick.
