3 piece combo but couldn't finish the okra or the breast
    Mark E.

First time trying this restaurant after seeing it on Texas Eats. The first thing that was surprising was how over priced the food was. I just ordered a 3 piece combo and it came out to just over $16. Way too over priced for a fast food joint. I paid it with no problem because the way they hyped it up made it seem worth it. First of all the okra looked and tasted like it had been sitting there for a while. The biscuit was dry and stale. The dark meat was pretty good but the white meat was dry. Overall a mediocre experience. I suggest you decide for yourself but I definitely won't be back

Staff was friendly and food was fresh and hot! Love that they have hot honey available.

    No chicken.

Ordered a 4pc strip combo and THEY FORGOT MY STRIPS. It was 15 bucks for 4 strips and 2 sides which isn't cheap and I didn't even get my dang chicken. Also, lemonade tastes like it's stored in a dirty container. If I didn't live 25 minutes away, I'd go back, but it's not worth it for some prolly generic chicken strips.

I know I did a review for this place BUT today truly was the best experience, best customer service, tastiest food and great place to just enjoy some good eats! It's a hidden gem with workers that love their job and pride themselves with food that just satisfies. I didn't get the name of 2 specific workers but they really went above and beyond for my family. I will be back.

It's Open! Finally! Last week, I happed to see the sign that said Soft Opening so stopped in Fri 20 Jun with my Yelpy friend who stopped over for an afternoon visit. When she mentioned she was hungry, I asked if she wanted to try chicken. Let's go to Honey's! The owner agreed to let me taste Cole slaw and Mac & Cheese as I shared I'm really picky about both. This reviewer says both are really good. Although I opted for fried okra on this day which is freshly made per order. Okra was fantastic! Chicken pieces were large, crispy, full of flavor, and definitely juicy. Yum! Everyone seemed to enjoy their meal. Lots of happy faces! We've been watching this being built for past two or three years. Looking forward to seeing this business flourish for many years in the future.

This place was fiiiiiiiiiiiiiiyah!! They are in their soft opening so hopefully the hours expand soon. Everyone was very friendly and helpful. The inside was clean with many tables. Bathrooms super clean as well. We had chicken, tenders, and a chicken sandwich. All rated delicious. The chicken was so juicy and flavorful. The chicken breasts were some of the juiciest I have had for fried chicken. And large. Same with the legs and thighs. My 10 year old said the tenders were some of the best he has had. And this is a kid who eats tenders at every restaurant. My older son also enjoyed the chicken sandwich. Waffle fries fried perfect. And the biscuit is heaven. Just wish they were bigger. The only issue was the sweet tea. It's flat out terrible. All three of us switched to something else. The lemonade was good. Fruit punch also fine. Don't know what's going on with that tea but I'd start over lol It was a bit of a drive for us to get over there but worth it once we started eating. I'd return here in a heartbeat if I'm in the mood for fried chicken. And frankly who isn't always in that mood? lol

Now that Honey's Chicken Joint is finally open we decided to stop in and give them a try. Can't say I'm not disappointed. I've waited for quite some time for this place to open after driving past it regularly. I really wanted to like this place and give it a 5 star review but unfortunately it didn't meet the mark for me. Pricing is decent; the staff and service are what you would expect; but the food itself falls short for me. I want to be clear, it is in now way terrible or awful. However, the chicken is cooked well and juicy but something about the breading threw me off. The sides were nothing extraordinary but comparable to what you would get at commercial chicken joint. Wish them the best

It is a SOFT opening for this first week so it's open until five. 11-5. We like that it has a variety of food to choose from. I ordered a 6 piece chicken tender combo with a lemonade. The lemonade is delicious! Not too sweet and not too tart. I have the fried okra as the side and the combo comes with a biscuit. It came up to $11.99. My husband ordered the 8 piece mixed bone in. It comes with 4 biscuits and 4 oz. gravy. We have been waiting for it to open for a long time. The young lady was very friendly at the drive thru. It's clean inside and they do have a big screen like she said. The food is delicious and we really appreciate the seasoning game on it. The biscuits are soft, buttery and with a little crunch!

I was pretty disappointed with my experience here. The chicken tenders were small, overly salty and seemed to be mostly breading with very little actual chicken. The biscuit completely fell apart after the first bite, which made it difficult to eat. The fries were okay, but unfortunately they were the best part of the meal. The service was pretty neutral, I ordered through the drive-thru, received my food, and that was about it. Overall, the food was just mediocre and not what I was expecting.

Best Fried chicken in the city! That is bold but they are getting it done right. I ordered a 3 piece, bone in regular meal with a side of fried okra. They have blues playing on the sound system, great tunes, very clean, and a great place to relax. They brought it to the table. The chicken is moist, even the white meat. Not too seasoned, just right to add flavor. The crust is crisp and golden brown. The okra was battered and fried on site, delicious. The biscuit was light, filling of flavor - I could eat a bag of these! Overall a great meal and great value. I am definitely going back!

Really amazing place. The food was fresh and the staff was so nice. The restaurant staff was friendly and they are really just striving on how to make the customer have a good experience. I highly suggest checking them out. The prices are fair. Did seasoned well. They have a military discount as well. Please go support this place. Overall great experience. Go check it out.

The chicken was just delicious, very juicy and flavorful. My kid had the chicken tenders and he stated they were one of the best.. one chicken tender was very sad looking.. super flat and very little meat.. so I ordered another order of tenders a la carte, explained situation and we got extra tenders on our order. It is quite a drive but will definitely be back.

Some refer to it as being home to the "best dogs in Texas" , serving up hotdogs, smash burgers, and more with a flavorful twist. Oh, and everything is 100% HALAL! Oh thank goodness for these guys! I've tried them out in Houston and they live up to the hype! Their creations are super cool like their elote dog, brisket dog, and specialty mad dog to name a few! Most often I feel like restaurants that serve hotdogs are not the greatest but this location was phenomenal. I was not able to go in person but I ordered from the restaurant and even then everything arrived in great condition, good packaging, and still delicious. I enjoyed the corn hotdog the most, it was a nice combination of flavors. The buns were thick, fluffy and the sausage itself was juicy and good size. Thanks again!

It tasted great and it made me excited to come back and try the other options they have! The curly fries were also seasoned well and very crisp. They might've been a bit understaffed because there was no one at the register when I walked in so I had a wait a minute or two before receiving service. But when she took my order and gave us our food she was super nice. The food also didn't take long to come out either. I very much enjoyed the outdoor area I sat at with my friends. My partner and I went on a Sunday morning just after 11am and there were already people coming in to eat. It's popular for a reason! I've eaten here a few times and had a very consistently good time, but this review will be about my most recent visit. We visited on a rainy day, but luckily we were able to snag one of the inside tables, we ordered at the counter and our orders arrived very quickly. I got the Ratchet dog which is a beef dog with queso, hot Cheetos and fried jalapeños. Dogfather uses quality dogs and buns for all of their gourmet dogs. I found the Ratchet to be meaty, salty with just right amount of spice from the jalapeños. My partner got the Pop it like it's hot, but removed the jalapeños. This was good but lacking a bit of flavor, however she and I both agreed that was on her for taking the jalapeños off the dog. Both dogs were extremely tasty, and we devoured both. I also got an order of curly fries loaded with their chili and cheese. For me, these did not have to go as HARD as they did. The chili they are using at Dogfather is seriously good, with a slight tang and a good amount of spice. It thrills but does not take away from your meal with too much heat. Very tasty. My only feedback is that Dogfather needs a larger space! There's a good size outside seating area, but for times like today when it's raining people need some coverage. They're doing it right and the crowds want to come! As I have stated this is a local favorite. If you live nearby, make it a regular spot. If you live in San Antonio, do yourself a favor and make a trip over at least sometimes. If you like hot dogs you won't go wrong.
