I had been wanting to check this place out since it's just down the road now from my house. I came in around 2pm on a Wednesday afternoon. There was only one patron there who was just about to leave. She was having a conversation with the owner who is a nice Asian man. I got the large egg flour soup and the teriyaki chicken yakisoba noodles to do. $22.00 total. I got home and the food looked delicious. As I got into scarfing down the noodles I notice a stale taste and it was the chicken. It's like they had a piece of chicken already cooked from days ago, there it on the grill or microwave to warm it up, cut it up and put it on top of the noodles. I did like the broccoli and cabbage they put in the yakisoba noodles but the sliced carrots seem to be stale too. I tried the egg drop soup and it had a funky taste like a fishy flavor to it. We dropped by here on our way back from Seattle. They have a lot of to-go orders but if you are going to eat there they will wait on you and take your order at the table. Small little joint about nine tables total and none were full on this day. A lot of take-out orders so that is probably all that is needed. I got the sesame chicken which had wayyy too much salt in it I had been wanting to drink more water but on this way. Haha. The veggie wraps were great, I would definitely order those again. I went to Rising Sun because my regular Teriyaki shop was closed on Sundays. While Rising Sun is competent (mostly), it is a bit bizarre, and I'm not planning on returning. This is a TINY shop, with only two tables for dining in (doesn't appear to be COVID-related, that's just how small this place is). Upon my arrival, there were two diners and nobody behind the counter. After about five minutes, an employee came from the back to take my order, and promptly disappeared again. While I waited (approximately 20 minutes), several others arrived, and also had to wait for somebody to come out of the kitchen are to help them. Most appeared to be picking up phoned-in orders. For each, the apparent owner of the establishment came out and chatted with them, complaining about the fact that he'd not eaten anything that day, that the city made him pay for inspections even during COVID, that the soft drink vendor charged them for the soda fountain and maintenance, etc. even during COVID. This seemed a bit too personal and unprofessional to be discussed with brand-new customers within earshot. The most troubling was his mention of "rat poop", but I didn't hear any other details. He was also wearing dollar store flip flops, which also smacked of unprofessionalism. Portion size is bigger than expected, but the ratio of protein to sides seems to be disproportionately skewed toward the cheaper ingredients. Flavor is lacking, and the noodles were far more oily than I've had anywhere else. One star extra because they're open on Sundays. read more

I have come here several times and I really like their food taste, quality and customer service BUT myself (and my family) have gotten food poisoning here several times so we've stopped going. I'm not sure what is causing it but I hope they fix it fast, because we do like the food a lot and the owner and his wife are so sweet, but it's roulette when eating here with the getting sick. read more

Kung Pao chicken with no zip at all. It was slightly more spicy than grandma's snickerdoodles and if "bland" says Sichuan cuisine to you, have at it. Peppercorns were AWOL. Could it be that supply chain issues are to blame? The brown rice was worse, with an odd taste that was, well, get out the sriracha to give it some soul and cover that oddness. Our family has eaten here often and have always enjoyed visits with the owner, he's such a nice gentlemen! However, we ordered take out tonight and the food was different and not near to what it usually is... We did not see him tonight and I am hoping it's because he found staff and was able to take a step back and take care of himself! Our order was missing the vegetables which we love, regular teriyaki chicken was dry and chewy and our other order was not what we ordered. I'm hoping this is just a temporary adjustment as staff are adjusting, I'm not sure? We came here because the lines at other places were too long to wait. We were driving past and decided to stop. Boy are we glad we did. The amount of choices are amazing. Most other Chinese/teriyaki places that you go to that offer this many choices, you expect sub par, bland tasting food. But not Rising Sun Teriyaki! OMG! The food was fresh and tasty. We started out with the Egg Drop Soup. Oh man. It was hot and fresh. It was not over salted or too spicy. It was just right. And they made it fresh just for our table. The owner said that the grandmother was in back making them. (My wife snuck a peek in the back and sure enough there she was making them). We were driving up to Battle Ground to visit family and wanted to pick up dinner for all 9 of us. I called while we were on the road to order food to be ready when we arrived around 6:00. We discussed how much food to order and he said that he would call me back with a price. He called back in 10 minutes with a price that I agreed with. We arrived at 6:10 and the food was well packed and ready to go. I paid and we went to the house we were visiting, the food was hot and delicious, and the sauce was in squeeze bottles on the side. I got the Korean pork from there the one time I've been there so far. I enjoyed it, not the best Korean pork I've ever had but my biggest issue was the size of portion I got. I didn't believe that it was worth the around $10 I paid. However this place has a big menu and I'm sure they have some items that taste even better. BG is just not the place for teriyaki. But if you wanted teriyaki then I would prefer the other one in town. Only been here once for dinner and never going back. First impression I got was the greasy utensils at my table. I ordered chicken yakisoba. When that came out it was really oily. Because the yakisoba was so oily it was almost like noodle soup. My wife, son and I ate at this restaurant for the first time tonight. I researched some places on yelp and the wife read the reviews and decided we should try this place out. We live in Washougal so its a 30+ minute drive not bad for taking the back roads and after eating there tonight, it was worth the trip. Its a nicely decorated restaurant, its not your suite and tie place but a causal place where the owner greats you with a smile and from all the return customers it was clear they loved the place for they were all on first name basis and the owner remembered all there names, kudos in my book for the over the top customer service experience. The menu has a great selection of food and for those people liking spicy dishes? though a dish may not say spicy, never fear the owner is there to make you happy, you want a dish spicy? just ask and you shall receive :). Its also kid friendly, with dishes any kid will love. All the dishes were amazing this includes the appetizers to even there cold brew Asian coffee. We had calamari and crab puffs for appetizers, chicken pinto box, spicy chicken dish, and my son had the mini chicken bowl. Tasty and pleasant! The restaurant is well decorated and has a good vibe. We ordered the bibimbap, beef bulgogi, spicy ramen, and pho. All were tasty--the bibimbap was the most delicious. (Pro tip: when you're served, let the food stay in the bowl for an extra minute before mixing to get the rice nice and crispy!)
